I don't think even changing HW's will help AMC. I'm not a doom and gloomer, but IMO it's got one foot in the grave and from what's been said NO ONE wanted the HW job at AMC which is why we got K&S

They do need to get rid of the awful B&E though

Is that a trick question? LOL, of course they don't, heck they don't even having anyone who watches continuity between episodes, why would they bother with something like this?

Utterly stupid to air repeat going into sweeps

Well, 1.8 seems to be the new normal. I remember people bugging out when ATWT hit this number 19 months back. GH took a hard fall this week but Days held that position a few weeks back so nobody ought to be that worried. Most of us thought that OLTL and AMC would always be fighting for fifth place but it really seems like all non-CBS shows are now tied for last place. Overall ratings seem to drop with each soap cancellation. Right after GL bit the dust, ATWT and OLTL suddenly started dropping lower; now, with the end of World, there seems to be more carnage with lower lows.

A few months ago, I said we'd be seeing 1.5 soon enough and it really wouldn't shock me if this happens before the 2011. A lot of people will be shopping between Thanksgiving and X-mas. Hope for bad weather so people will stay home and watch soaps ;)

I think the best performance of all 6 soaps is Y&R and even B&B, down only .1 or .4, DAYS, GH, AMC and OLTL all currently have horrible numbers especially for this time of the year.

ETA:

I'll wait to see what happens through January/February, but it definitely could be that the middle-pack and back-end soaps - aka all non-CBS soaps - are settling into their low end numbers being the new high (2.4 to 2.5 million). It was just a matter if time if this is so.

Exactly, Angela. I think it is laughable how OLTL fans are trying to spin the bad news.

The cold weather rises may come later in the year. The weather is still pretty decent across most of the country.

Also, you are right that Y&R and B&B are the only two soaps relatively holding onto their demos. Y&R continues to be the champion of the soaps.

Dreadful numbers by all soaps. B&B at 2.2?....GH hitting a 1.5 for Friday......All the shows losing viewers this week.....Brenda's return continues to flop.....OLTL will drop again next week....AMC...so dull to watch...the whole mid week reruns for ABC soaps is hurting their shows.

They are going to hate you for saying that. I agree with you. Yes, they went up in HHs but went down in viewers again. Those 18-49 numbers are dreadful for all soaps.

AMC is in big trouble.....and GH in last...just wow.....lol

It's going to go down..I can guarantee it! The big events were last week.

    • Oups!! I guess when i was doing the editing, i left a part of 3169, too (RTL Lounge airs 2 episodes per day back to back). Sorry about that ! Tonight i ll try to record 3171-3172. If i m not mistaken 3172 is missing from YouTube.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
