Annoyed, yes, b/c no matter who the father turned out to be, nobody won. Thank God Paula Cwikly & Peter Brash had the good sense to retcon that potential disaster.

Absolutely agree. The 2000-2001 era seemed so bad back then, especially on most of the message boards. However, it was definitely more "DOOL" than anything that has aired since 2006 (especially the Hogan era) and there were some things that Langan did get right.

I sorta remember this issue and their reasons I think.

Yeah that pairing was boring, the bad writing for the couple was a disservice to Tricia Cast and a waste of Francesco Quinn. It's no wonder they left in early '01.

Susan Lemay played by a teenage Brittany Snow was great, I don't why Kriezman all but erased this.

Both were bad, although their choice for Best was miles ahead of blind Reva and the doctor guy.

I remember there was a lot good press about this but I didn't particularly care for it.

The only time Katie really got a full smack-down and comeuppance for all of her stupidity. ^_^

I can stand by this, because I remember ATWT turning into a good and watchable show in 2000. I pretty much enjoyed Sheffer's ATWT run for the most part until 2004 with the whole Pilar's return, Doc Reese, Cabot, Julia etc. whatever crap was flying around that awful summer.

I too voted for Stefano, because having him be the father sounded a lot better. Plus there was rumors that if John and Hope were going be paired up, that Bo was going to sleep with Marlena and they would become a couple. And that repulsed me, because I couldn't see show's two biggest couples be turned into a quad. It is weird they chose Days as Most improved because it always seemed like it was getting worse until one day it finally hit rock bottom the island stuff and this:

(Yes, I will always use any excuse to show off bald Chloe and Mermi :D)

I did enjoy a few stories from Days in 2000 such as Eric stuck between heaven and hell with Isabella, the Bo and Hope wedding, and I didn't think the plane crash was all too bad for the show but Days certainly didn't improve in 2000.

Bo and Marlena? That would be all types of wrong. The only coupling rumor I ever heard about Marlena was her and Dr. Craig Wesley. That would've been... interesting? But I think it would've come across as a fag 'n hag (not that it didn't come across that way with Nancy too)

Hey, she might've looked pretty hot... loved her hair and total look in 2000, with her hair grown back out past her shoulders and sometimes she'd curl it up... She'd still look like she was dating her "brother" though. He wears the leather jacket while she wears a sensible blazer.

    • I'm not sure it's as unpopular as you think.  I just think the show knew they were in a bind, and needed a proven couple for the viewers to invest in. Trying to reunite Vanessa and Ross had just failed in 87. I don't think Ed and Holly's affair was well received, as Simon and Garrett had a brother/sister chemistry. Enter Billy and Vanessa, who give you history and an out not to try and do a Josh/Reva/Billy triangle, which would've really wrecked the relationship between Josh and Billy. I'd have been ok with trying Vanessa/Ross again, and doing a Vanessa/Ross/Holly/Billy quad for a while. I hated Nadine. HATED. She had to be the most insufferable also-ran before ATWT's Julia Lindsay.
    • GROSS. Michael Swan was hot back in his ATWT days. Now he's 76 and WAY past his hot years.
    • Since she kidnapped, locked up and tried to kill her father's wife I'd say that is still a pretty big deal
    • I'm good with the gushing, too. There aren't many soap icons like John Black, and that's important to celebrate and remember. And yes, life does go on for other characters, but as they say, timing is everything. Going sky diving the day before the funeral? And during a week of shows that were so powerful emotionally? No.
    • No. There might have been a slight pause for dramatic effect after his "death," but pretty soon after they showed him in France getting plastic surgery and getting involved with his doctor, then planning with her to bring Christina to France. (She thought he had good reason to do it; she wasn't a bad person or anything). Now that I think of it, there must have been some kind of pause before that, during the 70s. Rita was accused of killing a private patient for an inheritance when she lived in Texas. Part of the backstory was that Roger had been there, too. Not sure exactly when or how long that was.
    • I've already stated that I don't like Doug being written as this meek and submissive. It was so lame watching him leave her like that. Vanessa can divorce him, but she then needs to get her thot ass into therapy. She's not only having sex with every guy she runs into, but is now having  sex with a skeevy perv on a poker table. I'm going to give the BTG some credit here. For months, many on this board were delighting in the Vanessa/Joey flirting and what they saw as chemistry. I think we're now seeing what the writers always intended -- that Joey is a disgusting POS wannabe mobster.
    • John Black actually was the ultimate good guy soap hero. So I don’t mind the town gushing over him. It’s deserved.
