Though I'm not a fan of the new 'do, I don't think they're doing anything to make Diane look older. They're trying for a more sophisticated look than we're used to seeing on MW. It's not DD's absence that's glaring---the man is still ten years older than MW. It's the fact there are NO male characters between 35 and 50 on the show. (And for those of us who remember the days of Pool Boy Brad, it's hard to believe he's not at least 50) Okay, no straight men---PhillipIII must be 40-ish. This show desperately needs an influx of new male blood. Unfortunately, even if they get it, they'll likely be himbo hair models who can't act. Suddenly Lane will have problems, it will be all Lily's fault and Cane find comfort in the next beautiful Caucasian 24-35 female. The twins will be lucky if they came out the closet twice per month.
