These scenes between Craig and Lucinda just personify one of the reasons why ATWT was my favorite soap. Just watch and enjoy!

These three scenes deliver so much of what is missing from today's remaining soaps. These scenes between Craig and Lucinda just drip with venom and verbal jousting.

Just when you think that Craig got the upperhand and Lucinda will be duly chastened, she delivers a final jab before delivering a venomous kiss on her lips before departing.

Savage!

I've seen some improvement from Y&R but nothing anywhere near this level. This is what's missing from today's remaining soaps.

*Note-- it's unfortunate that no matter the scene, you still get the same screen grab and the first few seconds. The software wasn't sharp enough to fix this.

Thanks for trying on these. I always love their scenes in the Bryce and Hubbard era. They had such a layered relationship - the type of thing that many insist soaps never had because viewers wouldn't "get it." It's only when the execs started really believing that the soaps died.

There were other great scenes- one between Sierra and Tonio (the one that left Tonio stricken) and Tonio and Lucinda where Sierra sarcastically remarks that Lucinda should marry Tonio herself if she thinks he's such a great husband, then Sierra (or maybe Finn) adds on "Oh it would be perfect!" with the subtext implying that Lucinda and Craig were a mismatch but Lucinda and Tonio would be well suited and unlike Craig, with Tonio, Sierra wouldn't give a damn.

I hated that we had that whole several months of Craig going missing, just when Sierra was hitting her stride and Finn's fierceness was top notch fiesty.

And then Finn Carter left in '88 and I think she filmed Tremors around 88- '89 because the movie came out in 1990 (presumably after post-production).

The unfortunate side of having such talented actors showcasing their talent on a well written show. They don't stick around.

Considering the fact that Julianne Moore, Lindsey Frost and Scott Bryce and Finn Carter had stepped away, you'd have thought that ATWT would've worked harder to keep Hillary Bailey Smith on the show.

I shipped Craig and Sierra.  It came off as totally believable that these two characters were hot for each other.  They were together for such a short period of time.

Lucinda and Craig were good for what they were but Lucinda would've drove Craig to murder her.

Betsty might have worked and as much as I liked Lindsey, she had some anti-chemistry with quite a few characters so I don't trust that.

I can't really get past anything post-1996. I think because I had high hopes for FMB and she really let me down. I watched some of that vile Sheffer (I wish I hadn't) and I watched the last year (which I don't regret, even if it was a mediocre/poor ending), and that's about it for me. I don't rewatch anything from 96 on.

    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
    • I don't mind the actor who plays Brian. He's fine. The problem for me is that Paige seems so wishy wishy. She doesn't seem to have much of a personality at this point so I don't see why Brian would be so besotted with her. She just lurches from one trauma to the next. Granted, it's only been a month, but she's not as vibrant as April or even Deborah who has had minimal screen time by this point.  I do worry about the influence of GH on the show since I'm in fall of 1979 and characters have conversations and there's not the drive to "youthify" the show. However, I think Marceau (sp?) is gone. He was given a rather tame sendoff. How long was the actor on the show? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I worry the show is setting up a murder mystery around one of my favorite characters and I will be mightily annoyed. I also noticed in recent Search for Tomorrow episodes uploaded to YT that the actors playing Logan and Eliot showed up. I don't watch the show but they were in the screencaps. When does Larkin Malloy show up or has he already left? Joel Crothers hasn't shown up either unless I've blinked and missed him.
    • Dr Linden. She treated Vanessa's drug addiction (although Vanessa seemed to forget that by Henry's suicide attempt) , and she's mentioned during Reva's PPD. Although I can't recall if she's actually shown right off the top of my head. She probably was temporarily shelved when Sonni was a therapist (between her crazy times) And I think Billy sees her after he falls off the wagon after Reva's death.
