I'm glad you shared that information. I've been trying to find any information on Paul Roberts, but all I could uncover was that he worked on ONE LIFE TO LIVE with Agnes Nixon and Don Wallace.

Does anyone know anything at all about K.C. Collier or John Saffron? Both worked as HW's on ATWT during the early '80s.

I will always remember this explosive storyline. I still laugh at when Kim asks Bob if he used protection with Susan and Bob say's somwthing like " I didn't exactly go there with a box of condoms and Kim goes into a rant about Susan's past and all the men she's been with and him catching something.....LOL

I'm re-watching the soap Classics DVDs and watching the episode where John humiliates Lisa and it opens with Mark and Connor. Were they popular? Because I can't stand either actor, their both cringeworthy. I felt like I was watching a parody of a soap opera. The show wasn't exactly exciting then but they stood out as terrible to me.

I wouldn't call Mark/Connor popular. Allyson Rice Taylor was---she was fired shortly afterwards, and the recast was an epic failure. Mark (I think) lasted until '97, but Oakdale was Kasnoff free I think by June of that year.

They weren't that popular together, although they had something of a fanbase.

AR-T was one of my favorite actresses on the show in those years, although I had to stop watching at that point because the show just felt so alien to me. I think when the ABC people came in they assumed no one cared about her because she wasn't a big name. There was a huge backlash over her firing, and it got them off to a bad start, which they never recovered from.

Nice to see some ART talk....I miss her on TV. I don't believe the couple were popular. I think most hated that Cal was thrown to the curb. I thought Connor was better as an independent woman. She didn't need a man in her life.

I agree. I do think they had a few fans, but I wasn't one of them. I preferred her with Cal, or on her own. Back then women on ATWT had an identity beyond men, although that was starting to change. Connor was such a rich and deep character. My favorite part about her was her relationship with her brother and mother.

Connor was great with Cal, they were both very headstrong, independent characters that worked great as a couple but also as individual characters as well.

Connor was friends with Lily, Damian, Emily, and Rosanna while sharing a love/hate relationship with Lucinda. I liked that Lucinda/Connor never were as close after the Walsh takeover. Nowadays, the two would have become soul sisters within a year.. but back then, characters with bad history would normally never be close.

The Lucinda and Connor dynamics were great! Their story was one of my favorites. Of course Douglas hit gold again with Neal and Royce...too bad MKA didn't stay long enough....she is another one I miss on tv.

Thanks for sharing all of that. Perhaps it was just that one scene/episode. I wanted to like Connor but my mind was made up on Mark. I'm going to have to YouTube some Lucinda/Connor, that sounds like it could be great and I could see ART with a talented scene partner.

Speaking of Connor, she's in some of this episode (the last half of an October 1994 episode - not great, but it's OK, some better than others...it's nice to see some of the last era of business stories, even if they'd run out of steam and become just talk talk talk by this time). The highlight of this for me is probably the scene with Duncan and Devere - great acting. I also like the warm parting of the ways with Kirk and Connor. Lucinda has a scene too (I keep forgetting she still wore somewhat sexy outfits at this point), with Shannon, which was a surprise. I miss that character interaction on soaps. Some good scenes with John too.

Part of an October 1995 episode.

The stuff with Orlena is pretty weak but I did enjoy the Jeremy/Margo scenes (before Margo became so bitter) and the scenes with Nancy, Kim, Mac, Bob. Helen Wagner does a great job.

    • I thought the story had it’s moments, I much preferred the story once Greg was meddling, trying to keep her away from Tom Ryan. I loved them together!   And there was a story they could have developed from this. Laura stopped having a lot of scenes with the ensemble. She's the only one missing during the big finales of seasons 5&6, and I would have been cool to play on that! For one, Laura being a more cutthroat business executive just made sense to me. Also, the point I was trying to make regarding Mary Robeson was that I wish they had focused on a story from her family /background beforehand. You could play the Vin artist from many angles.
    • Nielsen Ratings for this same week 39 years ago May 5-11 1986. North & South Book II mini-series pre-empted a number of ABC shows. What the heck was NBC’s Fast Copy about?

    • I think the arrival of the Spauldings (Alan/Elizabeth/Phillip) caused the erosion of Sara's character on the show since Elizabeth took over Sara's place in the whole Justin/Jackie story.  Sara's brief marriage to another deceptive man sounded like it paled in comparison to the previous deceptive man story that she had played the decade beforehand.. and it was probably done because of the whole Alan/Jackie/Mike/Elizabeth cluster that took off story wise.   I know the show had introduced Brandy, the woman Justin cheated on Jackie with... but I don't believe she lasted more than a year.. and didn't make much of an impression. While the Dobson's were good at writing/juggling multiple characters/stories.. they weren't perfect though they did manage to make use of characters not in the front burner like Sara, Ann, etc. I do know that Sara/Adam looked to be starting up at the end of the Dobson era with a jealous/regretful Barbara looking on.. which played out during the Roger/Holly rape story and Hollys prison story.   I don't know if Marland was as inspired by that story when he took over
    • If you ever make it to the Paley Center in NYC (fka Museum of TV and Radio), in their viewing room, you can watch Days 1/1/73 featuring Denise Alexander as Susan. It’s her last month on the show before switching to GH.
    • Overall I was impressed with this week and fall out from the revealation.  I am looking forward to seeing the Nicole/Dana showdown next week.  I do wonder if June is going to be tied to Hayley.
    • I thought Adam and Sara got married? Although I do not remember any mention of her when Adam returned for Blake's weddings. But MA certainly got the short end of the stick storywise, as Marland's obsession with therapy reared it's head.
    • Didn’t Meg Bennett return to SFT as a writer in the last few years. I always wondered if they tried to get her back as Liza.
    • Millette Alexander got the short end of the stick once they killed off Joe. The Justin thing was a non-starter. Then she was briefly married to Alan's corrupt lawyer and HE was killed off. She was paired briefly with Adam and that ended because she believed Holly over Roger about the rape. Definitely, Marland had zero interest in her except as the therapist for the many, many of his female characters who needed therapy. It's not odd she left the show. One of the rare 1978 episodes on YT shows Alan going to Cedars for a physical check-up. He ends up with Sarah as his doctor. In between making mysoginistic comments about women doctors, he also openly flirts with her. It's very obvious they were chem testing Sarah and Alan. It's a really good scene. Bernau is both obnoxious and charming and Millette is amazing, trying to be pleasant and profesional without rolling her eyes at him, but at the same time maybe a LITTLE bit attracted to him. An interesting what-might-have-been. So it appears the Dobsons were actively looking for someone to pair her with, they just never found the right one for a long-term story.
