September 2, 201015 yr Author Member I'm not even sure I quite get it but I'm still shocked For the record I think, face wise, James and Ford do look a lot a like--Nate not much at all. I was ok handling James out of all of them, till they made him obnoxious endlessly texting Starr on that one awful episode. Yeah, that's attractive... What I still don't get--while some of it is feeble indeed (hoping to distract John by pushing Marty), how did Rodney at the insane asylum know Eli again, in the first place?? And how did Eli find out Melinda saw a pic of him and showed it to Rodney? Even for a soap these are huge, bizarre coincidences. It's not clever, Ron Carlivati, it's just weak. I think that Rodney witnessed the attack on Melinda or something...maybe I'm just crazy. I've been sort of zoning in and out while watching OLTL lately.
September 2, 201015 yr Member Blair and Eli's showdown was as rushed, poorly scripted and acted as most climatic moments lately on this soap. Look no further than the Tea is dead reveals. They packed her bags up and rushed back to RC's next plot point. I respectfully disagree that KDP and MW gave it any dignity. I winced watching that dreadful mess and the only real saving grace was both actors looked as pained as I did by their material. I give KDP a nice nod for looking at camera and all but saying look I know it's bad dialogue, a really sucking ending but bear with me. Then again I feel that way a lot watching OLTL lately. But is it an ending? I thought we were implied that Eli would continue to pop up for some time to come. Yaye.
September 2, 201015 yr Author Member But is it an ending? I thought we were implied that Eli would continue to pop up for some time to come. Yaye. You know by now that, as far as OLTL is concerned, things aren't always what they seem.
September 2, 201015 yr Member But RC said he always planned this path for Eli. RC always claims as much.
September 2, 201015 yr Member Wow I knew Madame could be dirty but not THAT much (of course I only saw2 some of her horrendous sitcom and the BIZARRE appearance she has in the bizarre black gay 70s film Norman Is That You which TCM randomly showed a few years back--after I had long read how unintentionally homophobic it was in The Celluloid Closet--I assume you've seen it--it's a gem!) Actually Madame and her umm "host" were pretty dirty... You know by now that, as far as OLTL is concerned, things aren't always what they seem. If only lately, that were a good thing... September 2, 201015 yr Member BTW what happened to Kelly's British "friend"? Was that meant to be part of a Todd triangle that never happened? Or was he meant to be a red-herring as to who the real killer was (if so, and I suspect he was, he was probably the WORST red herring I've ever seen on OLTL, which is saying something--I doubt anyone even slightly suspected him)
September 2, 201015 yr Member Carlivati claimed that he was written out earlier than anticipated because the audience didn't like him. I have my doubts about that as he was not on the show long enough to really test audience response, since the show films far in advance, and also because negative audience response has never stopped OLTL before.
September 2, 201015 yr Member I think Ron is lying about Reed and Eli. A friend told me they had some serious names in mind for that Reed role, like Sebastian Roche or something, maybe he was bullshitting but whatever the case I think they miscast, that role tanked and they scrapped it and went with what people were actually responding to: Blair and Elijah Clarke. A strategic move perhaps, but it torpedoed B&E on the show. And they could've used having that couple in their back pocket when it is inevitably time to [!@#$%^&*] around with Todd and Blair again, something none of us look forward to though Todd and Tea are nothing special either. Unless a paradigm shift is in en route with Roger Howarth - and God I hope so. But I really liked Matt Walton, I wanted him with Blair permanently. I don't understand why they mangled two popular alternate pairings for Blair (Ross and Eli) in under a year. Something must be changing BTS and they didn't know which end was up. I don't understand how Ford can teach his brother's class, or that of the underage girl he fucked. His sexploits have been all over local news. How is he still employed? At this point I'd be more intrigued if Marty or Kelly began an activism campaign to get him fired, and wound up [!@#$%^&*] him in secret. Edited September 2, 201015 yr by Vee
September 2, 201015 yr Member I've only seen a clip of the Norman movie on YouTube, Red Foxx, right? Yeah, Wayland and Madame, quite a pair. It felt so weird, everyone going back to school today with their little messenger bags. And that mini-seed of James and Gigi being planted, that was kinda random and weird. He's gonna make Twee'col jealous. Langhorne looks like a Real Housewife with that new 'do and I really wish they'd just quit with her and Ford. Ford can be good, but then he has these weird OTT kick-ball-change acting moments with weird faces. I dig Matthew, that's my boy. I've said this at least three times before, but that first day they wrote him as being a snarky little dick to Bo and Nora was the best thing that ever happened to the otherwise snooze of a character. He's my favorite youngin' on the show.

Exactly, I don't buy that. He was barely on as is, and in the low budget thread people claim OLTL films sooo far in advance--which would mean fans could barely react to one or two of his appearances before he was gone. (though I guess he lasted longer than some "failed" OLTL characters like the drunk professor who flirted with VIcki, Mark LaMura was wasted on for 15 mins)

I don't understand why they mangled two popular alternate pairings for Blair (Ross and Eli) in under a year. Something must be changing BTS and they didn't know which end was up. Amen. I liked Matt a lot with Blair too until he turned bad which (and I don't really blame the actor) just isn't working--even keeping in mind how awful his story now is, he plays bad, well *badly*. I guess there's no other way to do some of this material... Yep. And that aside I don't buy for one second he'd have the credentials to go from reality tv show producer to ta to full tennured PROFESSOR so quickly (of course this is the university that just hired Christian, so who knows...) Yeah, what they did with Mark LaMura and Kevin Dobson was criminal. I completely forgot about DObson as the GOvernor.
September 2, 201015 yr Member I've only seen a clip of the Norman movie on YouTube, Red Foxx, right? Yeah, Wayland and Madame, quite a pair. Yes! ANd Pear Bailey (well as a cameo and singing the song). You have GOT to see it--it's not on DVD but TCM shows it in the middle of the night sometimes. There's a great write up with pics here: http://www.cinemademerde.com/Norman_Is_That_You.shtml I dig Matthew, that's my boy.
