I forgot about ABC Family, especially The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Pretty Little Liars. It does shock me that ABC Family get higher ratings not because of the quality of the programs but because the CW seems better at getting buzz.

Speaking of the CW's sucky ratings....

Despite tough times for sitcoms, ABC latest to try all-comedy night By The Associated Press – 2 days ago

NEW YORK, N.Y. — It's hardly the golden age of sitcoms, but ABC is now the second network to fill an entire night's prime-time schedule with them.

ABC last week devoted its Wednesday night schedule to six sitcoms — taking the lead from NBC, which does the same thing on Thursday nights. For its first try, ABC had bragging rights, with its comedies delivering an average of 6.4 million viewers to NBC's 4.7 million, the Nielsen Co. said.

ABC's "Modern Family" was the week's most popular comedy for only the second time in the show's history. It helped that CBS' "The Big Bang Theory," which is generally more popular, showed a rerun.

The networks' experiments have less to do with the strength of comedies than with declining ratings for expensive dramas, which typically fill the 10 p.m. Eastern hour on ABC, CBS and NBC. In fact, only two sitcoms, "Modern Family" (No. 17) and CBS' "Mike & Molly" (No. 25), finished among Nielsen's 25 most popular prime-time programs last week.

NBC's "The Office," approaching the exit of star Steve Carell, has been inching up in the ratings and was seen by 7.9 million people last week.

The two editions of Fox's "American Idol" topped the week's popularity list, although CBS was the most-watched network.

For the week in prime-time, CBS averaged 9.2 million viewers (5.8 rating, 10 share), Fox had 7.9 million viewers (4.6, 8), ABC had 7.8 million (4.9, 8), NBC had 5.2 million (3.3, 5), the CW had 1.5 million (1.0, 2) and ION Television had 1.2 million (0.8, 1).

Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision led with an average of 3.7 million (1.9 rating, 3 share), Telemundo had 1.3 million (0.7, 1), TeleFutura had 680,000 (0.4, 1) and Estrella and Azteca both had 220,000 (both 0.1, 0).

NBC's "Nightly News" topped the evening newscasts with an average of 8.7 million viewers (5.7, 12). ABC's "World News" was second with 7.7 million (5.2, 10) and the "CBS Evening News" had 5.5 million viewers (3.7, 7).

A ratings point represents 1,149,000 households, or 1 per cent of the nation's estimated 114.9 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.

For the week of April 11-17, the top 10 shows, their networks and viewerships: "American Idol" (Wednesday), Fox, 23.03 million; "American Idol" (Thursday), Fox, 21.92 million; "Dancing With the Stars," ABC, 20.93 million; "NCIS," CBS, 19.87 million; "Dancing With the Stars Results," ABC, 15.96 million; "NCIS: Los Angeles," CBS, 15.46 million; "Criminal Minds," CBS, 13.59 million; "Castle," ABC, 12.33 million; "Bones," Fox, 11.45 million; "Survivor: Redemption Island," CBS, 11.09 million.

I don't think The CW's shows even get that much buzz anymore, especially Gossip Girl, which is depressing as hell to even watch. Of all the shows on CW and ABCF, I'd say Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars get the biggest buzz of them all. Secret Life isn't the monster it used to be, Make It or Break It has always played second fiddle to Secret Life and PLL, and the CW shows are just...blah.

As for The CW's pilots, Secret Circle and Hart of Dixie (Scott Porter  Cress Williams ) are the only two that interest me.

Supernatural and Smallville do get talked about because of the fanatical fans they have and Nikita gets some buzz because of critical acclaim( it's one of those "too smart show especially for the CW" and "why aren't you watching shows"). If it weren't for the gay storyline, less people would know 90210 is still on.

Heart of Dixie is having problems because Rachel Bilson can't play a convincing doctor. http://www.deadline....y-buzz-edition/

So I read an article that came out a few months ago with new CW president Mark Pedowitz. He says he is looking into more sitcoms and broadening the network's audience. I hope 2012-2013 brings changes to this network.

It's really pathetic. The Vampire Diaries is the ONLY show over a 1.0 in the 18-49 demos.

    • Thank you for the info about SFT related to EON. I thought about adding SFT to my watch list, but I don't know if it's the kind of soap for me. I know very little about it except for a few of the actors and that it was on two different networks. I also know based on this board or somewhere else that the two Lizas both died young from cancer. Warms my heart to see so many EON people on SFT because they are such good performers and I wish they had been moved to other shows. Perhaps, they were and I'm just not aware of it.
    • There was a few times when Silk Press Sheila came into her apartment after going grocery shopping.. she could have been unloading her items as she talked to Eva or Ted and saw a few of the products on the counter that are P & G products.
    • I enjoyed today's show. I liked seeing Mona again and her confronting both Eva and Leslie. I did feel for Eva, especially at the end of their confrontation, when Mona said "Good", when Eva mentioning losing everybody she cared about. Though, I can understand Mona's anger and Leslie deserved every bit of her ire. Both Leslie/Eva betrayed her especially Leslie. Mona put her both her professional and personal relationships with the Duprees on the line and what Leslie/Eva did put her in an awkward position. Speaking of Leslie she continues to act trifling and caring only about herself and her needs. At this point, it only seems like she cares about herself and wanting Ted for herself. I'm not even sure how if her feelings for Mona were even sincere, though she called out about people turning against her after Mona left. I have yet to see Leslie really display that she sincerely cares about anyone, and I do think that needs to change at some point. I enjoyed Nicole and her scenes today with Leslie/her children. I also like that Martin took a more sensible approach regarding how the family should handle Eva. He did straight up acknowledge she was his sister, and it seemed like he was opened to up to accepting her. I think he will be among the first in the family to soften towards/accept her. And in spite of the way she was introduced into their lives, he will end up being happy to have two little sisters. I wonder again about Kat/Eva being twins/Eva being Nicole, when Martin/Kat brought up them being the same age and Kat even used the word "twins" in disbelief, when Martin suggested they shared a connection from the beginning.
    • LOL! They did show a Pantene and Dawn commercial today. Image them incorporating those into the show.
    • He joined Julian in Bermuda when he getting a divorce from Ivy. And, was the one who tricked Theresa and Julian in to believing that they had gotten married there. That would be nice.  That was such a good book, and it was too bad that the show retconned it so much. I still have my copy somewhere.
    • Instead of Febreze, Eva pulled a few tissues of Puffs and cried into them. Hayley comes in with a pack of Always and is like "Well, Bill turns out I'm not pregnant." Andre and Derek sharing a bottle of Pepto after eating Ashley's cooking. Vernon and Anita drinking up their Metamucil.
    •   I liked the actress who played Tina. She was not the typical soap hire. I hadn't thought of her in many years until I saw a Spauldingfield video of her. It makes sense if they were planning to make her Frank's daughter as she was tied to the Coopers and nothing else was done with her beyond singing and the relationship with Marcus that Rauch never cared about. David was hurt by Monti Sharp leaving the role. I don't blame Monti for leaving, as he was getting less and less to do, but Russell Curry was a very generic actor was too old for the part. Yes, black don't crack, but he was nearly 40. When David returns at the end of the decade they cast an actor who was a little too young, which just shows how little interest the show had in the character or black characters in general (and random recasting would return with the Boudreauxs). Marcus is a character who got a lot of buzz early on and then the show lost interest (again).  Anyway, if you stay watching, be warned that the Hart/Dinah/Roger stuff gets worse and worse. Luckily you don't have the same lengthy ties to the show so it may be OK for you. It made me feel a bit sick at the time. Thanks for giving more info. And to @DeeVee and @P.J. as well. I suppose there were tiers of people who were seen as disposable, and Eve was shielded for a time due to that tier. Once they were clearly getting rid of characters like Justin or Amanda, then she was also on that list (I know she left before they did but it wasn't that long before). Characters like Eve, quiet, able to be used in many avenues, are important for community, or they should be, although she had clearly reached a natural end. The problem is no one really replaced her - all the characters who were likely seen as dull were shipped out from 83-85, and we were left with an unbalanced canvas (and characters who were meant to be exciting but were still dull, like Calla, Simon, et al).

    • I just find her obnoxious and I need somebody to start checking her (other than Bill) without couching it in you’re so strong and wonderful and Bill did you so wrong. Even Anita pulls punches with her. Her personality would definitely rub some people the wrong way and I hope once the canvas evolves beyond Dupreeland, she gets some adversaries who aren’t villains or 90-lb. weaklings like Haley.
    • Wow.... Anita and Dani are the ultimate symbol of mean girls.   I hate to tell this to Dani... but Eva's ability to do hair is a much more coveted job and skill than Dani's modeling.   I doubt Dani could cut it if she lost her money and was truly forced to start over from square 1.
