In hindsight, the way DOOL SORAS-ed Julie's son (twenties during the seventies) and grandson (twenties during the eighties), it would have made sense to have Jeanne Cooper play Julie. Then again, the writers would have to retcon her history by making Julie, Tom and Alice's daughter,  rather than their eldest grandchild. Since Julie's parents, Addie and Ben Olson, were written off the show decades ago. The show could have written Addie and Julie being rival sisters over Doug Williams, and Julie's younger brother, Steve Olson, could have been her nephew.

Where did you see this about Jeanne Cooper? I've never heard that before. I can't see that at all. I can see Jeanne Cooper playing Addie when the character was recast in the early seventies. But Julie? That would mean that Julie went from a shoplifting teenager in 1965 to a 40-year-old woman a few years later.

Chris Robinson was in talks to play Bill Horton on Days, but all agreed he was too young to play the father of Mike (Michael T Weiss)

Christopher Stone took on the role of Bill and Robinson went to AW as Jason Frame.

Interesting that Robinson was actually older than Stone,so maybe it was more that Robinson didnt want to play a father of a 30 something child.

That's interesting how Chris Robinson was too young to play Bill considering the fact that John H. Martin and the late Christopher Stone were younger than him. The late David O'Brien, who was fresh out of his Dr. Steve Aldrich role on The Doctors and later became AW's Sin Stalker could have been Bill around the early-mid 1980s. Or even Peter White who ended up filling in for Stone on DOOL. If Bill is ever brought back, Jeff Pomerantz should be given a chance to play the character.

An interview on You Tube had the late Dack Rambo discussing being considered to be a Bobby Ewing recast after Patrick Duffy left. Starts at 0:45 and ends around 1:00

Considering Laura's history on DOOL, Jamie Lyn Bauer is not age appropriate for Laura. In hindsight, the show should have had her playing Dr. Sandy Horton during the nineties and give her a story with Roman. Marla Adams or Judith McConnell are two names I can think of who would be a more age appropriate Laura.

I'm fine with JLB (although, I can see AArredondo's point about her not being age-appropriate).  However, if DAYS just HAD to recast Laura again, for whatever reason, then I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Erika Slezak (ex-Viki/Niki, et al, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) take on the role.  Again, maybe not age-appropriate, but in terms of disposition, I could draw that straight line from Susan Flannery and Rosemary Forsyth to Slezak.

    • Unpopular opinion, but I didn't think the show should have reunited Billy/Vanessa at all until the final stretch of the show. When watching the 1989 episodes when both Vanessa and Billy return after being off the show... I liked that Vanessa had moved on from him and that the show was hinting at her wanting to reunite with her first love Ross while looking down at Nadine for being the one Ross was dating.  And I loved the twist where Billy and Nadine teamed up to keep Vanessa/Ross apart.   This was an interesting concept that sadly the writers dropped with the show deciding to make Vanessa pine over Billy between 1990 and 1993 when they finally reunited.   To me, Vanessa pining over Billy seemed out of character. At least once Billy was carted off to prison in 1994... she and Billy divorced and stayed divorced until the final months when they finally found their way back together.  During the years when they were divorced, I liked that they had maintained a friendship and connection.. with viewers (like my late mom) wondering if they would ever decide to make it work again. I wish the show had tried that with Josh/Reva because by the time of the final episode when they rode off into the sunset, I didn't care because we'd been through the make up and break ups between them for over 10+ years by that point.
    • I break down the primetime soap era (start of Dallas to end of Knots Landing) as  Up to Spring 1982: Building the foundation. Fall 1982-Spring 1985: Peak. Fall 1985-Spring 1988: Tanking. Fall 1988 onward: Off the rails plus budget mode. Of course individual shows vary and I've broken down each show in their threads.
    • I’m ready for Portia and Curtis to divorce and get it over with. Portia cheating with Isaiah would make for a fun love quadrangle with Jordan.

    • They didn't need to have some slutty gay dude as their representation. Just a 'normal' guy getting involved with another guy or two (or three). Just like the straight characters. Thinking about it, they missed the boat by not having a few other single charcters at the beginning. Maybe Naomi or Ashley could be shown meeting Derek/Jacob and  we could follow their romance. Too many characters were coupled up at the start. As a tattoo hater I was surprised to see Tomas so inked. Don't find it attractive or sexy. I'm surprised an actor would do that as it's definitely a statement and may not be appropriate for some roles. Suppose they can cover if necessary. I didn't buy Kat being all girly and then paying off Darius to get into Eva's room. Way too cliche. She should have just come along when the housekeeping was leaving and breezed in saying it was her room. And her smug looks in the hotel room and 'Now I've got you!!' talks to herself at Orphey Gene's...no.
