Viva La Frantz!

A spokesperson for BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL confirms that Adrienne Frantz will be bringing Amber back to LA this summer. Frantz, who last aired on YOUNG AND RESTLESS on May 7, starts taping at B&B on May 18. She will first air on July 1.

So excited! LOVED her on B&B.

She's always been far better off at B&B anyway. Up against a strong actress (Cooper, Walton and/or Flannery) Frantz ups her game and does well.

this is news? Wasnt this already revealed a month ago?

IIRC, Adrienne said she was going back, but then sources at B&B said it wasn't a done deal yet.

They must have had some contract negotiations to work out that are all done now.

Understatement. Frantz can be extremely solid when up against the big leagues. On her own, it's hit and miss but she has that sparkle in her...

...yet would fail miserably in any other role but Amber. She IS Amber.

They gave up writing for the character over a year before she left B&B the first time. I wonder what they will do now.

I really hope they do a Rick/Amber/Thomas triangle. That seems inevitable based on the history between her and the men, not to mention their mothers

Glad it's finally official. ITA -- AF definitely holds her own against the power actresses. She'll be a boost to B&B, based on what I've been reading. It's too bad that CBS doesn't force B&B to expand to an hour and then create a half-hour game show to replace ATWT. The show has so much history and they cast strong actors, but then squander them (e.g. Lesli Kay, who will be available again after ATWT wraps).

B&B would still suffer from the same problems. Plus, if they went to an hour, the actors would have to give up their sweet vacation time, so that's not gonna happen.

Not to mention, Brooke/Ridge for an hour a day?

Why would Brad Bell be any better at an hour show than at a half hour one?

I'm not even sure who the power actresses on B&B are now. Their idea of a power actress is Steffi.

Plus, doesn't the international market prefer B&B being half hour?

Yep.

If the Bells had any sort of business sense, they would have went an hour about ten years ago. So, when CBS cancels B&B, they are still selling their product in half-hour chunks to Italy well after the show meets its demise here in the states.

Something tells me The Bells, even if they did agree to forego the staff's long vacations for an hourlong format, would never want to foot the bill themselves to go the full hour. Would cost way too much money and it's always been about ownership of the product and brand with them, which would be difficult to maintain in this economic environment. Just ask the Dobsons.

Very good points all around.

The Dobsons set the precedent for getting screwed over by selling control and it seems the Bells took the opposite approach and preferred the control the half hour has given them. They've got plenty of business sense, they own miles of LA real estate, but any talent when it comes to soaps died with Bill.
