No you don't.

You just want to apply your hipster irony to another situation where it doesn't belong.

He's a little too old to qualify. But you're correct. Sylph generally avoids situations where he has to write about soap operas at Soap Opera Network like the plague.

Acting credits don't equate success.

And when the likes of CICLEY TYSON, ANGELA BASSETT, ALFRE WOODARD, WHOOPI GOLDBERG & KATHY BATES (for starters) are working in Tyler Perry movies?

It pretty much says it all.

Is the Eric Roberts Slumming Debate still raging?

Which is what "THEY" would do regardless.

"They" did it to Ellen Holly & "they" would do it to Debbi & Tonya & Vanita & REG & Tika & Daphnee & Yvonna & Tamara in a heartbeat too.

Of course. She's just making it a whole lot easier.

Yeah, for real. Actresses take breaks and do other things. Considering Victoria left Y&R herself, I doubt she was looking for heavy acting jobs in the last couple of years. She's busy with other things. A book, charities, getting married, she still has a teenage son who needs raising, etc. Acting credits don't equate success.

She is probably telling herself that too.

But hasn't she been saying not-so-nice things about Y&R almost since the minute Dru went over the cliff? She's been doing okay for herself since then. As long as she's not dependent on daytime, she'll be okay no matter what. She'll continue to be a "name" in the black community.

Right. She's not an idiot. She knows good and well that her "big black mouth" will get her into "trouble". Why can't more people see that for the valiant act that it is opposed to just dismissing her as batshit or self-defeating? Her argument's only weakness is that she is sadly the lone voice. It is SO much more to her than pout and smear. Her hope is that TIIC will be shamed by the truth and wake the [!@#$%^&*] up and that what's left of the oh-so loyal audience (of all colors, but the black audience in particular) will see just what they're being so loyal to. She's financially comfortable but more than that brave enough to say whatever the hell she wants to say, what a good many of other actors of color would love to say if they weren't afraid of going on the list. This is so beyond worrying about landing the next gig.

Again.

"They" would do it regardless.

Therefore any point you just tried to make is irrelevent.

She's perfectly fine.

Don't confuse JUSTIFIED anger & speaking out with "not being able to let go".

If she wasn't able to "let go" SHE WOULD STILL BE THERE.

And yet plenty of actresses of EVERY COLOR her age & older (especially WOC) have a hard time finding work.

So trying the "she isn't working" strawman as a measure of her post Y&R success doesn't work.

Especially when she has a very successful book she's been promoting as well as continuing to work as an advocate for foster children as she always has.

No.

You don't.

What you're trying to do (and failing miserably at) & what bellcurve said are two totally different things.

SHE'S NOT HELPING RACIST PEOPLE NOT BE RACIST!

WITCHCRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Platforms don't matter when those that can change the system won't.

But it DOES give voice to those who didn't have one & open doors for those who are in similar situations.

But wait weren't you the one just putting emphasis on "letting go" if "letting go" is SO important why does she NEED to say ANYONE did ANYTHING.

Your "cutting edge" logic doesn't hold up Sylph.

As usual.

I love this post. Let me frame it so that it stands as a monument.

And Kristoff, Bryton & even Keith Hamilton Cobb have made similar statements about race & Y&R.

So Victoria is far from alone in that regard.

If you're going to practice hipster irony at least be good at it.

  • Member

Perhaps I should frame it one more time? unsure.gif

And now you've slipped from attempted hipster irony to weak trolling.

You disappoint me Sylph.

True.

Judging from some of the comments I saw on her Twitter, I just think that some people have a hard time understanding that there are people in Hollywood who actually stand for something and they will say what needs to be said whether that makes them popular or not. She could speak out and be unemployed or she could sit back silently and be unemployed. Just because things don't look like they're changing doesn't mean that they won't someday, and if daytime never learns the lesson, then no better for it as it's crumbling before our very eyes anyway. VR needs to be EPing her own projects.

Exactly.

Tonya didn't speak out & what did it get her?

A barely recurring stint & another bad wig.

Sigh..now I see the problem. I say like a cockroach...just step on it...cockroach-3.jpg

Because it's all true...?

It is? unsure.gif An actress which isn't working doesn't have a problem? Who spends the little money she accumulated in this economy and not making any more? I dunno. mellow.gif

I think you are romanticzing her and her tweets. But that is just my opinion. I am sure the villagers will come with the torches and claim I do not like Rowell and support racism in Genoa City.
