Dumbest SOARSINGs

I've only watched DAYS for short periods of time, so correct me if I'm wrong. When Eileen Davidson's character was on, wasn't Sami Brady already a major troublemaker on the show? So, if E.J. was born at that time, shouldn't Sami be much, much, MUCH older than E. J. ? Is she old enough to be his mother?

Technically, she's 13 years older than him (Sami born in 1984, EJ born in 1997), but SORAS'd Sami is about 20 years older than non-SORAS'd EJ. I have no clue how old EJ is supposed to be now, but I'm guessing around the same age as Sami.

This reminds me of how on ATWT, Mike was waffling between Katie and Jennifer, yet when he came to town as a full-grown man, neither one of them were ready for kindergarten.

Sheila Carter and James Warrick's daughter Mary Carter (Warrick)/Erica Lovejoy (BnB) was born in 1997 and disappeared a year later in 1998. By 2002 she was back, as a near 18 year old obsessed with adult Rick Forrester. By the time she turned 18 a few months later she was encouraged to seduce him by her mother - who'd shown up in LA to find her runaway daughter. Sheila realized her 'good fortune' in having her daughter obsessed with the son of the man Sheila herself was obsessed with and did everything she could to make her daughter's dreams come true. That included murder and attempted murder of those who got in her way.

Infant Hope was born just as Sheila returned. Now that Hope is a teen (17 - they're always 17 years old), Sheila's return, if it ever happened, would mean that Sheila is the mother of a 35 year old, LOL! I'm betting that Sheila's daughter with Massimo, born just few years ago, after Hope was born, is an adult now, as well, though she can't be older than Hope.

The writers on two separate shows have used the Carter women in unintentionally mocking ways.

Wow, four years? Bradley Bell hardly ever waits that long to SORAS someone or have them obsess over a Forrester man. ;-)

When DAYS started, Julie was like 15 or 16, right? Cuz Tom & Alice were in their early 50's and their daughter Addie was already married with 2 kids. How much did they SORAS Julie when Susan Seaforth Hayes took over the role? Since she was romancing a man with gray hair by 1970... But yeah, how funny that Julie had a grown grandson by the late 80's...

Susan was only three years older than the first Julie. I dont think they really aged her because the show played up the huge age diff between doug and julie and the fact that he was with her mother and the father to her sister.

I hate SORASING-it's lazy writing and has damaged the core families on all the shows. When children are aged, their parents are bumped to an older age group and everything gets mixed up.

I think Susan Seaforth Hayes was 26 when Julie's son David was aged to 18.A few years later she was a grandmother.Julie had years ahead of her as a character but she became 'middle aged' and her stories reflected this.

There was really no need to age David at that time. His stories could have been given to Julie's brother Steve.

Another thing is that when the characters are aged to teens, usually the actors are older and after a few years the actor and character seem the same age.

Imagine how different and more cohesive the shows would be if nobody was aged.

On Y&R Billy would be just starting his teen stories now as would Lily and Daniel.

B&B are experts at dumb SORASing:

Steffy and Thomas for instance. Steffy is younger than Amber´s son Little Eric/Deacon. But not anymore. While Steffy is now 20+, Little E/D is around 12.

Sheila´s daughter Erica/Mary was a baby when Amber was her nanny. A couple of years later, they were rivals over Rick.

Hope was born when Bridget were married to Deacon. For that to be true now, Bridget married Deacon when she was about 8.

And of course, Rick and Bridget. They were born when Ridge, Thorne, Kristen & Felicia were 20+. Now they´re only about 10 years younger which changes the story completely since then Eric must have walked out on his marriage when his children were still young.

I too dislike SORAS-ing.
