OLTL: Discussion for the week April 19

I am deadly serious. Natalie is "the other woman". We're supposed to root for the good girl who has John (Marty), and not the manstealing ginger slut. It's all there in the writing.

What show are you watching?

They are clearly pushing John and Natalie back together. Come on, EVERYTHING Marty has experienced, and now they are making her experience yet a nother tragedy to push john back to natalie.

They made Marty out to be jealous of the kiss, which was completely understandable, but the way they wrote her jealousy and her bitchiness towards Natalie, who was never trying to do anything to Marty, completely shows how they are going to trash Marty, put John and Natalie back together, and make it out to be Marty's fault somehow

That's what's in the writing.

I look at the Natalie/John/Marty triangle like this: The writers probably figure that since John/Natalie were a popular couple that the audience will accept Natalie doing bad things simply based on the fact that they are "soulmates" and that fans want to see them back together. That's just my educated guess.

Not gonna happen on this show.

I know... I know. :( I'd much rather watch her battle her Aunt Kiki.

In the words of the great philosopher Omar Little, "Oh, indeed." (Sorry, I'm almost through S4 of The Wire)

I really hope John/Nat are together when this show gets canceled. I'm a veteran of the Jowars and that would work for me. IMO, they are a perfect example of everything wrong with how soaps portray relationships: triangles, assumptions, fixation, obsession, stoic man, stupid/easy/delusional woman, no one taking responsibility for their own happiness. Jolie, Regi, Sole and Tn? are the perfect couples to be in place when ABC calls time of death.

I'd like it if Marty crossed over to AMC. I could really see her working with Angie and lawd knows Pine Valley could use a psychdoc. Plus her status as a rape survivor would play well with the Kane women. She wouldn't have to be frontburner all the time so the Kaye/Haskells could stay in NYC. TK wouldn't have to deal with the Zendalls and SH wouldn't have to put up with having a Jolie price on her head. For fun, AMC could bring over and cast Aunt Kiki. I could see her being a 21st century Phoebe Wallingford. (Constance McCashin, Constance Towers or even Marj Dusay perhaps?)

I think she'd work well on AMC, although they have their own struggles with female characters.

I think Aunt Kiki is dead, but they could always pretend she isn't, I don't think people would notice.

I always appreciate your Omar shoutouts :P and Constance McCashin, now there's a potential casting shoutout you don't get too often. I have friends who went to Brandeis and she was their teacher for a bit! Crazy.

I am all for Marj Dusay on AMC or OLTL, I love that lady. She is so not a GH kind of actress, but I would love to see her up against Constance's Helena, I think any character played by Marj would be skeered uh Helena. They could relive some of their Capitol magic.

Kiki would be a wonderful way of introducing a new elder onto the Pine Valley landscape. Don't drop her in heavy. Have her pop up in the background at a couple of sweeps balls/parties. She could share a few stories about Palmer, Phoebe, Myrtle or Langley. Maybe pay someone's bail, etc... If you really want to mess stuff up make Aunt Kiki black and bring on Leslie Uggams, Phylicia Rashad or Nancy Wilson to play her. Perhaps Kiki is an aunt by marriage. Regardless Marty would fare far better on AMC than she will in Llanview sandwiched between Todd, John and Viki's slightly less brain-damaged, so-called daughter.

Oh god.

I can see a Todd/Kelly/John triangle on the horizon.

But seriously, Susan Haskell needs to be fired once John and Natalie reunite. She just isn't needed.

Susan Haskell is needed more than Natalie, more than Jessica, more than Layla, more than half of the women on OLTL.

If I didn't know better I'd think they were trashing both women to make people want him with Kelly.

Except Kelly fans want her with Kevin or Joey.

Why is it that OLTL always seems to kill off characters that they shouldn't?

Because, like SEARCH FOR TOMORROW before them (and like the other soaps these days, too), OLTL never really considers the "long run" in its planning. Melinda's "murder" might provide a quick ratings boost; however, Dorian and we have lost a so-called "blood tie" that might be needed down the line for stories involving Dorian, Blair, Addie, Kelly, etc. Same stupid reason why, out of Viki's 18,000 half-siblings, Todd has become the only one who still matters, when I, for one, would have liked to see Tony, Meredith and their offspring and loved ones alive and still active on the canvas.

.....DAYUM.

Exactly.

Seriously, why can't Brody switch career tracks and become a physical trainer? At least, that way, it'd make sense for him to be shirtless (sort of).

Really enjoying this Natalie/Brody friendship that is happening, it will be interesting to see just where that leads.

And to think, I saw magic in those two when he first stepped onto the show.

At this point, Markko could call Lang-Lang "the Whore of Babylon," and he'd get no complaints from me.

I think Brody and Nat will find comfort in each other's arms as John takes Marty's side and Brody gets tired of jumping rope while Jessica's synapses heal.

Not before Khan finds comfort there, though. ;-)

Now living with this Ford crap, would all of you who said you'd rather it be Melinda over Langston change your opinions? Well hmmmm?? -_-

I want to eat dinner off his abs!

Yeah, like we're thinking of food when/if we're in close proximity to Mark Lawson.
