Unsung Soap Stars

Whatever happened to Laurie Heineman on AW? She won an Emmy for Lead Actress beating out colleagues Wyndham and McKinsey yet never did another soap again and disappeared in the '80s. She had done ATWT before AW, yet it strikes me as odd someone could beat out the best of daytime yet vanish afterward(Hello Lila Kedrova and Mercedes Ruehl!)

ROYA! God rest her soul, she was Erica Kane and Tina Clayton rolled into one, I loved her as a kid, that gorgeous, exotic face.

Yes, that, and I want to see the Bob/Kim/Jennifer saga on ATWT. And the stories with Sara and Charlotte and Kit Vested on GL.

Even the bit they showed of Nancy's Dorian on Daytime to Remember was staggering. And she went on to play a very different role on ATWT.

Good question. She was also there at the Emmy broadcast I mentioned earlier with all of the past best actor/actress winners.

When SPW interviewed her in the late 90s she said she found less and less acting work she enjoyed, so she became a therapist. She also said she had to just wear a dress she had, as she couldn't go to wardrobe since she no longer worked at AW. She also had to submit the few reels she had bought before she left (when she said goodbye to Alice and when she told someone she had once been a prostitute). She said she thinks they created the supporting actor/actress categories the next year because of her win.

I remember watching that at WoST, the way she fell apart on the stand. I'm afraid that we missed some REALLY great stuff with her on OLTL. What I'd give to see that episode where she gave a big party and replaced Eugenia's portrait, unveiling one of herself while Viki was bedridden upstairs. Then Dorian shat a brick when Viki surprised the crowd and descended the stairs in a gossamer white gown.

Ah now I want to see this stuff, I've always been curious about 70s OLTL, mostly about Pinkerton's run and early Viki vs Dorian, but this makes me even more curiouser.

That's funny because the following year Irene Dailey won for Lead Actress, even though Dailey was more fit for a Supporting Actress nom than a Lead Actress one(Suzanne Rogers was the first Supporting Actress winner)

Kristina Wagner. Not the best actress ever, but beautiful, pleasant, the camera loves her, she has a nice persona, and when called on she delivered one of the most dramatic moments in GH history. She has so many things going for her looks and charm wise, not being Meryl Streep doesn't really enter into her equation, or shouldn't anyway.

Sharon Wyatt

Sharon Gabet

Kristina Wagner is very underrated.

You're right that she isn't Meryl & she's Laura-Lite in a lot of ways but they don't make them like her anymore either.

Sharon Wyatt can do it ALL. She would've made an awesome Melinda Cramer.

This is purely speculation, but I'm wondering if LH's tape showcased that subtle, austere '70s woman who was more in tune with the tastes of the time. Iris and Rachel, I mean, those ladies were an experience, maybe a little too much for some judges? Who knows...

Erika Page

<_< Well as long as she didn't have to work with a character named Chrissshhhunnn.
