Maybe Tad hooked up with Hillary when he had amnesia and thought he was Ted Orsini.

I have no problem with him being the father as long as Carmen Thomas comes back and they explain when they slept together. ITA that Hillary was the only woman besides Dixie who had killer chemistry with Tad. I'd love for her to come back full time!

Yay :) I love it, and I really could care less when Damon was conceived. I mean, do soaps really pay attention to that nowadays? I am just happy that Tad has a storyline now, and I hope that Hillary shows up in PV. Damon is like Tad in his younger days...Tad is doing exactly what was done to him when he was younger, he's taking in Damon and treating him as if he is his own son...and little does he know, he really is!

Utterly preposterous. There's no way in Hell he could be Damon's father. It doesn't work, age-wise or history-wise. AMC's just stuck another nail in its coffin.

Well, you're watching the wrong medium if you want things to work on perfectly age-wise or history wise.

If Tad left in 1986 and if Hillary and Tad hooked up off screen after 1986, then Damon is no more than 24 years old. It works.

But you and I and anyone else who has even half a brain knows that won't be how it'll turn out. AMC will suggest Hillary was pregnant w/ Damon when she and Tad separated. Never mind Tad left about a year before Hillary did, or that when she did leave, it was with another guy.

And no, I don't expect ages to work out perfectly on soaps...but I do expect them to make some damn sense. They used to, you know, before people stop giving a crap!

That's the thing that gets me, why is it suddenly okay that LB effs up character history, but any other writer were to do, they'd be skewered for it?

It doesn't have to work perfectly, but it should make some kind of sense, and this does NOT on any level.

Are they trying to make Tad into Todd or Sonny as in giving him one kid after another?

Exactly!

Maybe I'm being too generous but I have to believe LB knows Damon would have to be the product of an encounter Tad and Hillary had sometime during or after her HWing stint in the mid 90s in order for this to make sense.

Is this the same LB who thought Erica kidnapping Maria's baby made sense? Or that Noah and Julia being smuggled out of Jamaica (or wherever) with the help of a voodoo priestess and her "death potion" made sense? Because, if such nonsense makes sense to her, then no wonder Tad suddenly has slow-activating sperm!

RELAX! It hasn't even played out on screen yet. If it goes the way you think it will, then yes, it's stupid. Let's wait first before throw up our arms, demanding that LB be removed from her post.

Who's doing this? If LB f'cks, up she f'cks up. I've never said it was ok for her to do so. I was the one who called her out on her previous work saying it was way too slow and I literally fell asleep. No one's giving LB a pass to write lazily, but she's doing a damn good job with what she's inherited.

No, I'm demanding LB be removed for other reasons. I've been on-record as saying she ain't cut out for this job. I stand by those comments.

Yeah, but it's only a matter of time before she does eff up, and we're all on the "Gee, even Pratt wasn't this bad!" bandwagon.

    • I hit the Google Machine, and can't find Alex Alegria's (Tomas) age anywhere. Wow, I really disagree with this. I like that Bill plays against the typical bad guy. I think Maurice Johnson has been just fine -- except for that swaying. I cannot believe someone -- anyone -- on that set didn't give him a note. He should have been called out on that in week one. The swaying and swiveling never stops unless he sits down. I understand the need for product placement and the reason for it. However, it does feel wrong during emotional scenes. Yes, we're talking about the products, but it takes us out of those emotional moments, and GATES shouldn't be happy about that. They need to do better. Maxim said it better than I did. I agree. The writers have absolutely failed Ashley and Derek. I've abused both of them here, but I do place more of the blame on the writing. Compare what A & D have been given with the dialogue Ambyr Michelle is getting as Eva. We're not even in the same universe. Ambyr is getting writing that plays to her (many) strengths. She takes good dialogue and knocks it out of the park. Ashley and Derek are given garbage to play and garbage to say.
    • The Eva / Tomas scenes at the end -- to see a good actress having to play a scene with someone giving her less than nothing -- that was painful.
    • I thought the story had it’s moments, I much preferred the story once Greg was meddling, trying to keep her away from Tom Ryan. I loved them together!   And there was a story they could have developed from this. Laura stopped having a lot of scenes with the ensemble. She's the only one missing during the big finales of seasons 5&6, and I would have been cool to play on that! For one, Laura being a more cutthroat business executive just made sense to me. Also, the point I was trying to make regarding Mary Robeson was that I wish they had focused on a story from her family /background beforehand. You could play the Vin artist from many angles.
    • Nielsen Ratings for this same week 39 years ago May 5-11 1986. North & South Book II mini-series pre-empted a number of ABC shows. What the heck was NBC’s Fast Copy about?

    • I think the arrival of the Spauldings (Alan/Elizabeth/Phillip) caused the erosion of Sara's character on the show since Elizabeth took over Sara's place in the whole Justin/Jackie story.  Sara's brief marriage to another deceptive man sounded like it paled in comparison to the previous deceptive man story that she had played the decade beforehand.. and it was probably done because of the whole Alan/Jackie/Mike/Elizabeth cluster that took off story wise.   I know the show had introduced Brandy, the woman Justin cheated on Jackie with... but I don't believe she lasted more than a year.. and didn't make much of an impression. While the Dobson's were good at writing/juggling multiple characters/stories.. they weren't perfect though they did manage to make use of characters not in the front burner like Sara, Ann, etc. I do know that Sara/Adam looked to be starting up at the end of the Dobson era with a jealous/regretful Barbara looking on.. which played out during the Roger/Holly rape story and Hollys prison story.   I don't know if Marland was as inspired by that story when he took over
    • If you ever make it to the Paley Center in NYC (fka Museum of TV and Radio), in their viewing room, you can watch Days 1/1/73 featuring Denise Alexander as Susan. It’s her last month on the show before switching to GH.
    • Overall I was impressed with this week and fall out from the revealation.  I am looking forward to seeing the Nicole/Dana showdown next week.  I do wonder if June is going to be tied to Hayley.
