Does anyone know why ATWT stopped using the theme they got in 2007? I really liked it, and ATWT doesn't even have a theme anymore.

Here's the B&B theme with that squealing which used to make me do a double take if I wasn't prepared. This is a few years before I started watching. WTF is that Logan sister shot at the beach with her legs open? At least she was in jeans. And the shots of Beth Logan are so random and hilarious and out of place, especially the dopey grin as she carries groceries. It's like, "Thank God I'm not a blonde, otherwise I wouldn't be on this show!!"

Still really preferred this opening to the one that they have now. I think B&B's current opening is about as seizure inducing as GH's. Plus, I grew up when B&B had this one and I remember it so well from my childhood. Along with the Y&R opening theme.

Yeah, that piano OLTL theme was cool for Christmas, but not for an every day theme. What's odd is that I remember there being a chorus too, doing "ooh OOH ooh AHH!" ("One Liiife to Liiive!") but maybe that was during the closing.

There definitely was at some point!

Does B&B show the cast in the credits everyday??? Or is it just the model/magazine cover, or is it both!? I watch the show all the time, but yet I am COMPLETELY drawing a blank :/

The essence of Zimmer, epitomized in just a few seconds. Loves it.

I guess I have to come to the defense of the 90s ATWT theme. I thought it was a beautiful piece (especially the closing) and the visuals were gorgeous. Perfect daytime music, IMO.

Speaking of ATWT, I believe this one here to be the best soap theme of all time, ever:

Just...everything a soap theme needed to be then. Loud, bombastic, grand, majestic, sweeping, dramatic, elegant, dignified.

HAHA I find it kinda bland--but the show was at that time ;)

It's just the original organ theme unimaginatively scored for every possible instrument at once I think?

Passions, longer version:

I know there's some sort of rule that soap vocal themes must have inane lyrics (witness Loving), but wow. I know no one will agree with me--but I hated Passions opening. CRAP CRAP song, badly sung, and shots of a small town, etc, that had nothing to do with the feel of the song. Utter fail.

Oh good, I've never been sure if anyone else liked that theme.

(Re 1970s OLTL opening) I love it, but I prefer when ti was elaborated and made more sophisticated (music and imagery) by the early 80s with the bird, etc

I always LOVED the music in this late 70's/early 80's GL opening. I think Bridget Dobson once said that they would try to write the most compelling opening tag, and then it would flash to "That thing with the dead looking leaves." LOL!

Me too, it's like soap opera's take on an Erik Satie composition.

It's interesting how soap themes were almost ALL gentle, or sentimental, etc till the 80s (was this partly due to Dallas, etc?)

I know every hates it, but I personally love the 1993 EastEnders jazzy theme music.

YES YES YES YES

I love it. It's like 100 times better than the "standard" EE theme in every way.

Staying abroad for a second, I love The Young Doctors, from Australia. It seems like every successful Aussie soap since then has had an opening with a wealth of hot youngsters and a couple of older, wacky people randomly thrown in for good measure, which I guess sums up the shows pretty accurately.

To illustrate, Neighbours circa 1999 (which are the episodes that aired on Oxygen a few years ago).

I loathe that thing Toadie does at the end. Loser.

Pretty much. Most of the P&G/CBS soaps orchestrated their organ music at that time...EON did, GL did, Love did, Storm did. I'm surprised Search never did. Storm's orchestrated theme, which I found online a few weeks ago, is very pretty, with acoustic guitar and a nice Spanish-flavored sound.

Am I the only one who noticed the really shortened DAYs theme recently? If you look at them traditionally throughout the shows history, it almost seems like the one we see today is on fast forward....I like the longer one better.

That extra short one that they use now annoys me everytime. It's just not DAYS to me.

ugh me too.

when i go back on youtube and see that long one that i love i always think "do they really need those extra two seconds of the show to cram more in?!"...I just wish we could get the long one back.
