It's not like AMC had not had awful deaths before (just a year before that, Julia was gunned down so Tad could have a child he barely spends time with), but Pratt went on and on with this, and often it was so pointless, like "Di" being killed. And as others have said, Stuart.

I know some have said they thought his version of AMC was entertaining, so this may have been why the ratings were good. I don't know. I just want AMC to have a decent headwriter and manage to be a decent show, if Frons can let that happen. If it happens, then I would hate to see a ratings drop, because that sends out the message that wholesale slaughter and making stories up as you go along is the way to get ratings.

Yup, the demos are real close. It not a big difference. That's what I was kind of trying to say to Toups....

The networks dont care about the male viewers at all. I guess they think male viewers dont shop for groceries or change brand names...its only 18-49 women demo...my mom is not even in that demo and hell she changes/tries different brand items all the time. A lot of women my mom's age do....the 18-49 is pure hogwash!!

Look at the coveted 18-49 demo compared to last year. The 3 soaps that significantly droppedin viewers in this demo are the 3 ABC soaps. They may be holding on to their positions but will not stay long if they continue to bleed out viewers, especially in this demographic.

ABC daytime either needs to fire Brian Frons or admit their plan is to cancel soaps and replace them with talk or game shows. Something has to change quickly IMO.

I just don't get the OLTL love. I know I'm probably in the minority on this, but I find the show just horrible. The dialogue is atrocious. The stories range from the ridiculous (the Mitch crap) to the cliched (EVERY element of the Kish story). I'm a gay man and I've tried to feel the Kish stuff, but it just seems so forced, as if they recycled "Queer as Folk" plotlines. Is the gay subject matter turning people away? Who knows? OLTL can milk all the press they want for Kish, but it's not getting the viewers. The parade of newbies certainly doesn't help things either. Also, with GH down, I wonder if that's affecting OLTL's numbers. OLTL has always been ABC's bridge show between AMC and GH. Maybe the fact that people are tuning out of GH is trickling down to OLTL, with the mindset that "oh I'm not going to watch GH, so why bother keeping the TV on that channel from 2-3 (or whenever OLTL airs)." AMC is also beyond terrible, but with some light at the end of the tunnel with Pratt gone. The whole ABC lineup needs a massive overhaul if it wants to survive.

You know it's tiresome hearing how ABC only cares about the demos and nothing else. I've heard the actors spew this crap and it's nonsense. i know in terms of advertising revenue that's what matters but no one can tell me they don't care about total viewers. As you said, you can't keep bleeding viewers and expect there is no impact at all to your demos. That's utter crap.

It's possible the Kish story could be a turn off to some viewers. Who knows. Otalia didn't do a darn thing for GL's ratings. I thought Nuke did help ATWT a tad for a time simply because they were the first gay couple on soaps and the show got a lot of attention for that, but I could be wrong who knows.
