Recasting won't fix the real issue.

Given the views most of the soaps generally have on interracial relationships these days, I think you're right. I think Destiny could be played by a supermodel and she'd still be second fiddle.

Recasting won't fix the real issue.

Would for me. I don't want to see her right now with Matthew because I find her scenes so hard to watch. If I liked theactor I suspect I'd find thecharacter more compelling. When she was a more minor figure she had some stuffthat gave hera lot ofsympathy--telling off the snotty kids at school etc but the last few months her delivery haskilledthe character--it's hard to feel sympathy for someone who reads every line while rolling her eyes or hiding smirks.

I appreciate many of your other points but have to disagree here--yeah the showhas somequestionable talent but NONE of the major players sucks so completely at giving any decent line delivery the way she does.

Questionable talent?

Gex, Sole & Easton.

Yet no matter how bad their acting they aren't hurting for airtime, emotional context or romantic partners.

They all at least can delivery a fairly natural line reading. Destiny hasn't even managed that and any promise she has shown seems to have regressed.

Dani has done all those things & then some yet since she's white & "conventionally attractive" her insta love with Matt is acceptable.

Tarty was conveniently kicked under the rug when the audience rejected it despite it being played by GOOD actors so Todd could have his miracle family with Todd/Dani & wouldn't have to deal with any of the damage he caused to any of his existing family.

The same thing is happening to Matt/Des & recasting wouldn't help because the root of the issue is the direct insinuation that the Black Girl isn't worth being loved by anyone especially not the son of one of the most prominent families in Llanview.

That wouldn't change if Rae'ven Kelly was playing the part.

Pretty much.

Keesha, Lainey & Kelly on GH?

DSLily & Roxie on Y&R?

Natalia on AMC?

Bonnie on ATWT?

Honestly while I know you're gonna say it's not, to me all that is irelevent. I think Dani is a much better actress (though it wouldn't behard not to be). That's why I think recasting is the way to go--then you'd ghet more people agreeing with you about how they've marginalized off this character, but for now frankly I'm glad. None of her family are that great as actors though I've always enjoyed Shaun and I wouldn't miss them if they left.

I'm sorry but I don't understand why Langston would ever see Ford as more attractive or interesting than Markko. Pouring a bucket over your head in a bad knockoff of Lucky Vanous isn't all that special, and he's even less special when clothed and speaking. Markko is gorgeous and charismatic -- Ford is generic in every way.

I would care more about this Matthew triangle if I felt this was even about Matthew's choice, or if the relationships involved were more developed. Destiny/Matthew may or may not have worked as a couple but we did see them develop as friends. The girl who plays Dani has been poor when given strong dramatic material, her voice is flat and her emotions aren't there, and while she is OK with just bonding with Matthew, that has been an afterthought compared to rushing them together because of some sort of fate, or because she's the new pretty pony who must be worshiped like her mother.

Just guessing but maybe we are supposed to see Markko as a boy and Ford as a MAN - old soap plot. To me they look about a year apart in age but hey... I'm not Valentini who gets to sit in on the auditions.

I see what you're saying about the Evans family, Eric, but I also have to wonder whether a stronger black presence would even be allowed on a soap today. Rachel got a quick love scene but otherwise she's a talk to. Hank is nowhere to be found. There's still Layla, who has had a decent year, but that almost seemed like a fluke.

The real issue has a name and he's in charge of three soaps.

That's really offensive.

Like REALLY offensive.

It's also indicative that the support for racial/gender/sexual minorities only exists one way.

then you'd ghet more people agreeing with you about how they've marginalized off this character,

It's not.

Bad acting or not offensive is offensive.

It's amazing the way gay stories/characters/fans are expected to be supported without question while racial ones are mocked & treated with disdain.

None of her family are that great as actors

So what?

That hasn't stopped Gex, Sole, any Easton pairing?

Why are ethnic minorities held to a standard their Caucasian peers aren't?

The real issue has a name and he's in charge of three soaps.

And even HE who SAID the plus sized White girl was unattractive didn't have a problem with her having an active love life with men who loved her, valued her & who put her first.

Exactly.

Like TPTB saying they wanted to write for RJ. <_<

Right, and I see that. I guess for me they're two seperate issues, though I do get that they'reinterconnected what I'm complaining about is lack of on screen talent.

Deedee almost half my family is black and I'm bi racial. Please don't jump to assumptions.

You're the one making assumptions not me.

But what does half your family being Black have with the topic?

what I'm complaining about is lack of on screen talent.

Their Caucasian peers aren't held to that standard.
