Great Women of Soaps

Seeing this latest trend in best/worst threads, I thought to start my own.

Who are some of your favourite daytime divas, those bigger-than-life, magnetic, super stylish femmes fatales of daytime? It can be anyone from a long-forgotten guest star in the '70s to the main female protagonist on the show. Villainess, fairy godmother, the characters ethics and morality are not the point.

And not to forget: is there a particularly soapy name of a female character you like? Like e.g. Dominique Deveraux (not daytime, but hey), Angelique DuVal, Helena Cassadine, those French/Italian/German/Greek sounding names, that sort of thing.

:)

P. S. If a mod could change the b in the title to a capital, I'd be grateful.

The three of them look very well-preserved. I used to like the George & Alana show. I believe George lived in Sierra Towers at the time, he would mention his apartment and I think I read somewhere later that he'd lived there.

George certainly did live in Sierra Towers. He now lives in a similarly luxe full service building on the Wilshire Corridor. He also has a condo in Palm Beach.

I've always liked Alana Stewart, she would have been brilliant on a soap like Capitol or Search for Tomorrow. An 80s daytime soap would have fit her like a glove.

That's one of my favorite Alexis wigs. I guess she probably wears it quite a bit but I haven't seen it in anything since her Dynasty run.

(Now watch me find out she never wore hair like that in Dynasty...)

I have no idea how she does it, but somewhere along the line Sue Ellen became JR's daughter.

she looks great. Perhaps Linda is a close relative of Dorian.

I am so bad at this type of stuff. I see little difference between her hair and her wig and I don't understand why she would want to wear such a pain in the rear end. Don't they itch? I think this looks better than the overly curly look and to her credit she still looks great with dark hair when most women her age lighten their hair to soften the look.

Well, I think possibly she wears the wig so she doesn't have to color her hair as often. Otherwise she would probably have to get it dyed constantly to keep the gray roots in check. At least, I always figure that's why some stars over 50 wear wigs. I never would have even known she wore wigs if I didn't come to this site. Same with LAD. I never would have thought about it. I think they both look like it's their real hair, unless you are wise to these things.

I get the feeling that some days Joan Collins just wakes up and decides that today she's going to be extra fabulous. At 78.
