Seeing this latest trend in best/worst threads, I thought to start my own.

Who are some of your favourite daytime divas, those bigger-than-life, magnetic, super stylish femmes fatales of daytime? It can be anyone from a long-forgotten guest star in the '70s to the main female protagonist on the show. Villainess, fairy godmother, the characters ethics and morality are not the point.

And not to forget: is there a particularly soapy name of a female character you like? Like e.g. Dominique Deveraux (not daytime, but hey), Angelique DuVal, Helena Cassadine, those French/Italian/German/Greek sounding names, that sort of thing.

:)

P. S. If a mod could change the b in the title to a capital, I'd be grateful.

If you take your thumb, her wig is practically the height of her entire face.

Joan Collins, Reality TV star...who woulda thunk it? But I love the premise.

Joan Does Glamour was a hit for ITV. Too bad it was just a special...it would be great on BRAVO. Are you listening Andy Cohen?!

I have to say, the theme from GWTW is one of the greatest pieces of movie music ever. You can set it to so much and it sets the right mood. That was a good special, I did laugh at the first few minutes when she was discussing the hefty women in the ill fitting clothes.

Attention anyone whose in the UK!

This week's HELLO! magazine has a mega layout of our Joanie in her luxe Belgravia mansion flat. It's the first time the place has ever been photographed. I am stunned at the opulence of it, it's in Knightsbridge and HUGE, it occurs to me now that I've actually walked right past it. What that place must be worth now must be bone chilling, she bought it more than 20 years ago with her Dynasty pennies.

I'm not sure it's Knightsbridge. It's pure Belgravia, one of the most prestigious addresses – E. P. No? unsure.gif

Yes, it is absolutely in Belgravia. My mistake!

PS: love that you noticed that error nearly two months after the fact.

I was re-reading and I recognized where it is, those embassies are familiar. happy0029.gif

So, another thing I just want to make sure I got right: she did the spreads for all of her homes/flats, but in different magazines or was it always Hello!?

Always HELLO! NY, South of France, LA and London, all covered in HELLO! since 2002.

Have any of you ever seen Joan's 1986 miniseries Monte Carlo? It's on Youtube, I just haven't watched yet. I remember that Schemering said it was a disaster - didn't that help lead to the breakup of her marriage to Peter Holm?

Just watched that Selina Scott clip. I guess Selina wasn't a host for long? Not exactly a thrilling presence.

Great interview. Joan is quite a PR master, and always on her feet -- every time she says something which might be slightly controversial, she edits herself, like saying SHE thinks (opinion not fact) OJ was guilty, and then when talking about the hell she went through, adding she knows it wasn't life and death. An I love how she casually plugs her beauty book.

Was this book she was involved in the lawsuit over a success, or was the book she was on a tour with at this time a success? Did she give up writing for a reason?

The book that the lawsuit was about wasn't ever published. Random House owns that book and they've never released it. The book Joan was discussing with Selina Scott, Infamous, was a bestseller in the UK and US for a week or two. She didn't really stop writing either, she's written a few lifestyle books since the Random House debacle and two more novels, Star Quality and Misfortune's Daughters, both of which were minor bestsellers. Joan's books sell, they just never sell BIG.

She has a new book coming out next year, a nonfiction work entitled 'The World According to Joan'...should be a hoot.

In other Joan news, she's booked two movies ('Dogs in Pocketbooks' starring Lydia Hearst in which Joan plays a high powered agent and 'Unforgettable' with Robert Wagner. The first movie shoots in LA and NY in February, the second films in Spain in March) and her pantomime role is a hit, I saw it right before I attempted to leave the UK (I got out 4 days later than expected, thank you Charles de Gaulle airport!) and she was fabulous and looked amazing.
