The 1994 episode has some superb work from Peter Simon. I know his Ed was so sorrowful and tough to take but he was riveting to watch.

Oh God, this is when Nancy St. Blah takes over right? And I remember them trying to kind of push Frank/Chele and it gave me the skeevs, as he was so much older then her and kind of like another brother (I hate to think they aged Michele just to put her with Frank and then backing out.)

i think i might be the only one who liked Alban as michelle! and i remember at the time liking michelle and franks flirtation and who can forget the episode with her in that tiny black leather skirt flirting with frank? as much as i love paul rauch, i would have loved to seen labine's material played out with a different producer cause imo, she was a perfect match for GL!!!! it was just a perfect example for right writer mixed with wrong producer and it all played out on screen!!

Does anyone know how they did the transition from Five Points to Selby Flatts to Springfield? I was reading over some recaps and saw that some characters on in the early 60s were still around in 1967 but Bert and Bill had already moved.

Let me add Alexia Havins's Lulu on GH, Mark Valley's Jack on DAYS I believe was quickly accepted, Nathan Fillon's Joey on OLTL if I'm not mistaken as well.

Good choices. I almost chose Carrington but thought the Kelly in between Robin Wright and Carrington might be seen as a buffer (similar to when Anne Heche joined AW after that short-lived Rhonda Vicky). I give Carrington a lot of credit as she really did manage to make Kelly her own and generate her own chemistry with Kelly's loved ones.

Speaking of Peter Bergman, and going way back, I think - surprisingly - Bergman's Y&R predecessor, Terry Lester, was quickly accepted as Mason Capwell on Santa Barbara. Ditto Lester's replacement, Gordon Thomson. I think it helped that Nancy Lee Grahn's Julia generated chemistry with all three Masons. At least, I don't recall much hate in the soap magazines back in the day, even if many would still agree that Lane Davies was still the quintessential Mason Capwell.
Speaking of SB, Jed Allan, Carrington Garland, and Robin Mattson all seemed to be embraced by the audience upon taking over the roles of C.C., Kelly, and Gina, respectively.

I'd never heard of her almost doing a show with Melanie Griffith. Hard to imagine Melanie on a sitcom.
Betty was also in the very short-lived second season of Bob, Bob Newhart's ill-fated early '90s sitcom.

I don't think so, because once Marland left, he was mostly front burner until he left the show the first time, in early 1984.
Nah, I think Marland just painted himself in a corner. He decided to go the redemption/happily married route for Alan and it diminished his usefulness on the canvas. Maybe he had a story planned to shake that up that didn't get a chance to happen. For instance, Rita hitting town with a kid, which would have blown up both Alan/Hope and Ed/Maureen.

That's a good choice, especially as he initially tried to emulate Terry but then slowly made the part his own.

I'm not sure what they call those storms in the Mediterranean, but that's where the storm was. Mark and Amanda go there, and Mark is washed overboard and feared dead.
They had a very deadly storm in Spain last year that caused severe flooding inland, which you don't really think would happen.
