From the episodes I saw from when Ben was back it seemed like Ben was hanging out more with Marina and the younger set rather than his own peer group.

Ah yes I do remember Taggart FINALLY playing on Bill/Michelle but I never cared much about Nancy's Michelle. At all.

One of the dullest recasts ever, and so cold and sanctimonious. I knew I disliked her when I was rooting for Danny in their child custody and divorce wrangling, even though he was a gangster. It speaks volumes that she was going to be recast when the show ended and also that she wasn't even asked for that reunion chat (as far as I know...).

He was thrown into Marah's age group, yes, for that tacky, stupid "virginity bet" story where three men were desperate to get into her pants. Lindsey McKeon has gone on to prove herself as an actress, but she was never worth the focus she got on GL

Does anyone know who else might've been in the running to play Michelle after Bethany Joy Lenz left?

From old posts in the They Almost Became thread, Laura Allen (Laura English #2, AMC), auditioned. So did Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie/Frankie, AMC, and other soap roles that are too shitty to mention).

I don't mind Eve and I love Hillary Edson but from what I started watching it was just a little "how wonderful she is" and they try a little too hard, but I've always been a fan of her as an actress. It was amusing watching Ed interview for a job at Cedars knowing that in the future they get together. Just a lot of focus on a new character played by a soap hopper. Just an observation. I guess they had to establish her.

I wonder what were the original plans for Eve, obviously I don't believe she was ever meant to be paired with Ed. Was she supposed to slowly go psycho over Nick? Become a permanent character and be paired with another character eventually? I think the potential was there for either happening.

I did remember missing Eve when she was killed off, strangely. Almost the entire show was in the shitter by that point though.

I thought Hilary Edson worked well with Peter Simon, and the story of her attempts to reclaim her sanity and reputation was one of the few I connected with by that point. I also thought that the right to die story and Rick's angst over what to do was good drama - and that story was also one of the few times I bought Barbara Crampton as Mindy.

I always kind of wondered if they did intend for her to be a more permanent coupling with Nick if they hadn't managed to book a 'name' (sort of) as Mindy.

Yeah it speaks volumes that she hasn't joined any reunion... Wonder what the deal was with that? Locher seems to be committed to including everyone. I can't believe she was that disliked behind the scenes.

I did not remember that they were considering recasting Michelle again towards the end.

How's it even possible they lost the part to NSA...?!

At this point I believe the Labines were planning to pair Michelle with Frank (!), so who knows what they or Rauch had in mind.

I know Rauch played a part, but Labine had clearly lost touch with sensible storytelling by the time of her GL stint.

If I'd been on a board at the time of that GL I would have probably been fuming - looking back I realize they were not entirely to blame (and I think Rauch and/or MADD were sabotaging them) but there were so many choices that made no sense and so many moments that just felt inauthentic (Blake seemed to become Lucy Coe overnight).

I think it would have worked better that way. It does appear they wanted to build towards Eve/Nick. And then ... she gets with Ed. LOL.

The potential was definitely there with Eve.

You think Labine would've been better at ATWT

I actually think so.

Yes - without a hack like Goutman, anyway.
