But because I knew Mick was 15 and Meredith was 21. Nola was older than Morgan. Morgan was still in high school when she came to Springfield. Nola was out of school. Genie Francis looks 30 in that TV guide cover. Ironically, in that clip, I like Maeve's wedding dress the best. As stunning as Reva's dress is---it doesn't fit her personality. Reva would've worn something much more body conscious and glamourous. And shout out to GL's most iconic scenes---Van and Nola's cat fight. Thanks. Nola being a few years old makes sense. I think the first time GL had proper flashbacks to olden days would have been the 1995 Christmas show. I don't know how often they had them after that (and the 1996 show?).

Don't tell me, some cousin they never heard/talked about yet looks just like Reva... surely Marah is smart enough to find that fishy, let alone other adults in SF. I'll have to see how this is actually executed haha. And to name her Dolly, is that some wink to the audience bc of the sheep? As you say, RME 😂

Well, there was the 50th anniversary week showings of fan favorite moments. But it still tickles me that Vanessa 's first Christmas with #### is her reminiscing about the Lewis's. I'm not sure what they did in '96. But otherwise I don't recall them ever digging out clips. Other than Roger/Holly around the time they returned to Springfield. Did GL ever replay classic episodes like ATWT did a couple of times? Edited October 29, 2025Oct 29 by P.J.

I didn't watch Christmas 1996 but I remember SPW claiming it was another flashback Christmas. I'd forgotten they had any clips for the 50th. I think GL replayed a few, although I'm not sure how far back they went. I have a vague memory of one being when Philip learned he was Justin and Jackie's biological son.

It was excellent and made me seek out much more of classic GL.
October 29, 2025Oct 29 Member Found a Roger and Peggy wedding picture! And there is the lovely large bouquet covering Fran Myers' pregnant tummy! Edited October 29, 2025Oct 29 by DeeVee

Here are my notes from 1996 Christmas. There were two flashbacks, but mostly centered on HB because Billy just came back. It was nowhere near like 1995. This was also just before Buzz/Reva broke up and Jenna came back, and Buzz was running to her on the tarmac in the cold. I remember thinking 1996 Christmas was pretty quick/subdued because they were gearing up for the bigger 60th Anniversary ball that happened just a couple weeks later in Jan. The Bauers gather first for Christmas Eve dinner: Meta, Rick/Abby, Michelle/Zachary, A-M/Lucy, Phillip, Blake/Ross, J (who seems jealous that Michelle is giving Zachary attention). Meta continues to watch Zachary and notices he’s wearing a special bracelet that she recognizes from her past. Holly/Fletcher/Meg/Griffin spend Christmas together and Marcus and Dahlia come by to visit, which was nice. Things were still clearly rocky between Marcus and Griffin, but they’re trying. Then we get to Christmas and everyone is invited to a surprise party and the host happens to be Billy! Great to see him back. He’s out of prison, on a furlough for good behavior, and will live in a halfway house for a bit. LOL at the banjo playing in the background of his scenes. Bill reunites with Billy and they talk about HB, who is spending the holidays in Europe with Mindy and Trish. Brief but great flashbacks here with Bill/HB/Henry and Josh/HB. Oh Reva - she sees Billy and runs up, pinches his butt and says “Billy Lewis, I’d recognize that backside anywhere” and laughs with glee haha. Tylo is back as Quint now for the party. The party ends quickly with half the town/characters singing Joy to the World. Also, Annie announces to everyone at Christmas that she’s pregnant LOL. And wow, a Nick and Susan return on 12/27 and 12/30! What a nice surprise. They came to convince Alex to leave with them and get away from Alan and his Spaulding hell. Then, Roger and Amanda announced they’re getting married haha. Edited October 30, 2025Oct 30 by alwaysAMC
October 29, 2025Oct 29 Member Thanks @alwaysAMC for the rundown. A shame they didn't do more, but like you said, they had a lot going on. The moment with Reva and Billy makes me smile. Given their rocky history I'm never sure how believable it should have been but enough time had passed, I suppose. I'm sorry he wasn't there to react when she first returned from the dead, but I'm still, all these years later, happy the character (and Jordan) came back at all.
October 29, 2025Oct 29 Member Now I remember the recap. That's the Christmas Vanessa spent dead. I would maybe rewatch, but I'm just not into Billy and Reva's "friendship".

October 30, 2025Oct 30 Member GL holiday classic episodes I remember were Michael Zaslow Emmy winning episode, rebroadcast of Christmas 1995, and Phillip learns about his parentage.

I think Bert tried to be accepting of Roger when he married Peggy because she thought she was going to straighten him out. When their marriage fell apart, he was like, well, I may as well be an @sshole again. Peggy to him was the love of his life. Of course, they rewrote history later on and tried to make Holly the love of his life, when that was never true. Edited October 30, 2025Oct 30 by DeeVee
October 30, 2025Oct 30 Member It is just so amazing to me that anyone would've thought that Roger could "be straightened out". Maybe I can cut Bert slack because this was so much earlier in his story, but it still annoys me that Maureen "was friends with" him.

The way I see it, her "friendship" with Roger was a way for her to spite Holly. And Ed, too. I think by late in her marriage Mo was sick of being so goody-goody and always putting up with Ed's crap, even before he slept with Lillian. Which to me just emphasizes again what a stupid idea it was to kill her off. Mo finally free of Ed and shaking the suburban housewife persona could have had some interesting possibilities.
