Tons of GL from those years is not available on Youtube. You may have to pick through. I think this is the first appearance of hers that is on Youtube. (as someone mentioned on the last page, the Soapcentral arrival date of March is wrong - she's getting "welcome to Springfield" in August)

You may still enjoy the scenes as they do a lot of heavy work, in the usual very heavy-handed Marland way, of establishing the "fun" person Carrie was initially presented as being. You also get to see some of Jane's chemistry with Jerry.

You have likely seen all of this before, but if you want more of her role in the Diane exit story, there are a number of clips of just that in this set.

LOL..I remember the establishment of "fun" Carrie...very similar to establishing "fun" Ellie Snyder, which made them both seem annoying.  (I remember Ross lost all of his edge as Carrie had them both in matching track suits as they began to "jog" and she would make health shakes for him..blahhh!

I'm sure you didn't have press conferences in a baseball diamond either!!! And you're picnics didn't take place..right next to that dirt road, and you could say hello to people driving...well the list goes on and on!

Lol..It would have been so easy, make a few good sets for gathering places...(for what its worth I thought Company and the Towers looked good) and avoid everyone living in a hotel...(during that weird time that Rick and Beth were married, they showed them living in the hotel...though sometime they would be in the Bauer kitchen...it was just so goofy.)

LOL!!

Ha!  OKC Mayor David Holt is a good guy - I went to school with him all 12 years, consider him a good friend - but that man will hold a press conference/photo op just about anywhere, lol.

I still think GL could've made the Peapack model work for them story-wise by having Springfield devastated by some tornado or flood that would explain or justify the less glamorous settings.

Really? I was making fun of them having Alan do a press conference that way, I had no idea that Wheeler was so "on target" with realism!

The unfortunate thing is, the show had no budget to have a tornado, flood , or one of the hundreds of fires which inflicted 5th Street.  Plus, Peapack is a beatiful area...it's where Reva did her hyper dramatic dive walk after she dumped Kyle at the altar.  Why not use some of that and not..the junked out backyard of Harley..(not that I doubt a Cooper would have junk in their backyard.)

I'm pretty sure Reva's walk after dumping Kyle was taped in New Vernon, NJ, not Peapack. New Vernon is about 12 miles away from Peapack. I believe that the church Guiding Light used for Reva's scenes was later used by One Life to Live for the conclusion of the homophobia storyline. I just drove through that area on my way back from the Catskills a few weeks ago and it's absolutely stunning.

About a decade ago the studio that made various South African soaps (all gone now, sadly) like Isidingo and Generations, suffered heavy fire damage. I think some of the episode post-fire are up if anyone wants to see how they dealt with the changes.

    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
    • I can see Kim being that way. Well, Kyle didn't have to say yes. LOL. The suicide attempt feels plot-driven. I don't know if even Long could've made it work. She'd spent so much time trying to make Reva and Kyle into a couple, it feels odd to just have them give up. Not to mention how odd it is to have Maeve agree to marry him. Re Charita---surely they could've at least tried  finding clips with who was still there. Maybe they wouldn't have been "big" moments, but surely she'd interacted with Ross, Vanessa, and Henry. Vanessa had dated Ed, FCOL. But Mo and Rick were there---surely they could've bothered to find some clips of her with them (and they did interact a fair amount) and used them. And with Ed they could've found some shot of her talking to him and just not cut to whoever was playing Ed in the clip. That to me is what feels lazy---they had more than a year to figure it out, and they went with a bunch of photos. If you were sort of centering it on Rick anyway---then find clips with them and use 'em.
    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
    • Beverlee was on a whole other level from Kim. It's not like they were in competition with each other. I get the feeling that Kim had a slight problem with the super-professional, serious cast members who just wanted everyone to be prepared and do the work, as she seems to like having fun on set. (She's made a few cracks about Chris Bernau being like that). Bev was definitely one of those. But they didn't work together that much. Yeah, they made her manic and also much weaker. She always had a vulnerability, but wanting to kill herself over that guy? No way. Not only that, he didn't leave her! She insisted he marry Maeve. When they did the tribute to Bert/Charita, the compilation of scenes with her showed how much the cast had been almost totally turned over in a relatively short period of time. Nearly every shot was of her by herself because most people she had worked with had been fired, left or been replaced. I assume they couldn't show her with people who hadn't been replaced, like Don Stewart, Elvera Roussel, or Robert Newman because they would have had to pay them for using their clips. It's dreadful to watch. Like she had no connection to the current show.
