OLTL: Discussion for the week August 3

Todd has truly been forgiven, I guess. Everyone, even Jessica, seemed amused and pleased when he wanted people to clear out of the way for Tea to catch the bouquet.

I hope they won't kill Jared. He's a solid presence and he isn't a douchebag, and soaps have few men now who fit both bills.

Another good episode today, IMO. My only beef was Dorian getting drunk again. How sad that Ms. Strasser not only had to play drunk, but also had to pass out on a church pew after interrupting the ceremony. Shame on you RC. Robin, Dorian and the fans deserve better.

-The only reason IMO Jared seems expendable these days is bc they stopped focusing on Jared trying to gain Clint's acceptance and what is the guy to do now when he's not working at BE pulling off corporate plots? I think Jared's potential would have went through the roof if OLTL focused on him working at BE, and maybe even being a force to be reckoned with in the board room.

-I find it interesting that when on Y&R, if someone interrupts a event in a drunken manner at the rate Dorian has been doing lately, it would be a hint of a social issue story on the horizon, with Dorian's character getting some help and attending AA. However with OLTL it seems, it's only played for comedic purposes and to give the illusion of some boring plot progressing on. It's kind of getting tiring.

If she were on Y&R she'd probably get drunk, roll around on the beach, and yell out "VICTOR!!!!"

I still wonder why they stopped the BE stuff so abruptly. Was that Frons again?

Instead we get the horrible Gigi/Rex/Stacy. Isn't it touching that Gigi lying to Rex for a decade about having his child has now been turned into an act of love.

They are basically the only reason I continue to watch. I currently find just about everything non-Todd related to be either atrociously bad, or just boring. Llanview is Todd's universe AFAIC, everyone else just lives there.

I don't think Jared is going anywhere. Why would he? I think the anvils are indicative of the show preparing to use him in this stalker story maybe as the red herring.

The wedding was a little boring as most soap weddings go but still beautiful nonetheless. Dorian and Blair interrupting was entertaining but I hope they get some mileage out of it by building on the circumstances of their characters.

This week has been the best OLTL seen in months. And tomorrow is going to be big, too.

Now, I just read something that is making me speculate. And I repeat, SPECULATE. Here we go:

I know most people would be pissed if this happens but I think it's brilliant.

I agree as well....and I'm sure which was the funniest...his ringtone as his cell phone was going off during the ceremony, the funny faces he made as Charlie was saying his vows to Viki, or his trying to catch Viki's bouquet.

    • A--I wish someone would post a better vid of the entire ball, as it must be out there. And B--nope. Evie is only in a small segment of the ball with Phillip, Rick and Mindy. She doesn't dance at all. Ross dances with Helena and Amanda. I'm not even sure why Evie is at the ball---Vanessa heartily disliked her. I did see that Billy actually asked Henry to introduce him to Vanessa, which I hadn't realized.
    • Honestly, they should've ordered more of 2000 Malibu Road for the 1992-93 midseason and aired it when Knots went on a break. That was probably their best shot.    Then of course they fumbled Central Park West by airing it in the 9PM slot instead of a 10PM slot where it would've been away from the Fox dramas. CPW got its best rating by airing randomly on a Sunday and when it was taken off the air for a "re-tooling", Party of Five's ratings actually had a spike, so clearly they were feeding off each other. But being a smaller network focused on a certain demographic, Fox could afford to be patient Party of Five, CBS couldn't...
    • Agree on Bruce Gray as Owen; they needed to cast star power. He was too lightweight against Kim and he had no chemistry with Frances Fischer except more gay buddy or daddy figure.  I loved Nola and Eliot together though. Lee Godart should have been longer term.
    • Andre has the worst fashion of the males which is off putting for someone as fine as he is. His jackets and sweaters look dated and no vintage does not work for him
    • I don’t recall MSW having a toy line in the late 80’s or early 90’s like all those Saturday morning cartoons did LOL but thought this was cute when I saw it in a vintage toy store yesterday:

    • Copying and pasting pasting this here as to not to derail the KL thread lol Wow I forgot CBS actually did try multiple attempts to come up with a soapy replacement for Knots on Thursday nights in the 10/9 slots for the 93-94 season.   Angel Falls had promise but CBS didn’t give it a fair chance. Latham’s Second Chances got even worse ratings than Angel Falls and wasn’t given a second chance when the Northridge quake destroyed the show’s sets. One West Waikiki looked gorgeous but was a blink you missed it affair. Finally we got Hotel Malibu, a quasi follow-up to Second Chances that stayed as the summer replacement series it was. CBS switched gears and had Chicago Hope air in the slot…against ER. It made the Top 30 but obviously underperformed below expectations. CBS gave up, and gave us 48 Hours for years there. It wasn’t until the 2002-03 season when CBS finally produced a Top 20 show for that spot with Without A Trace against an aging ER.
    • Of course I join in on wishing that Peacock & Corday & Sony would all together come to the conclusion that NOW would be a fine time to put some of these gems in the archive on full display!!! But, at the same time I'd like to give kudos to the fact that behind the scenes they've been doing the great work of preservation by taking tapes, etc. & converting them to modern digital formats. Besides the important fact of preserving them it means they are ready to go!
