Patty Jane and her rape of Jack.

This character does one evil thing after another, with almost no remorse and nothing spaced out, yet people think THIS regime can redeem her? Please. I'm so sick of this one-note cartoon. It's a shame since I really liked the actress too.

So sick of Billy too, why the hell is he in every episode lately?

Amber/Daniel = Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Crap episode, but at least we saw Lauren today, which was nice, but sad what this once great character has been reduced to. Jess Walton's acting was also good today.

Agreed.

I'm losing hope that any change will ever happen...

Needless to say I was looking forward to seeing Lauren, and I was glad to see her but could the writers have possibly made her scenes shorter? She had scenes with Michael, Paul, Amber and Nikki and most were less than 1 minute long and she had a costume change. Why was that done?

How sad, CLB and TEB were treated as props for Gloria, Kevin and Phyllis under LML. They probably thought they finally would get their own story with a Bell in charge and instead this brain trust decided these two long term emmy winning vets should now be used to prop characters like Daniel and Amber. Are you kidding me? Daniel and Amber?

I don't think they can hate characters more than they do Michael and Lauren. She is off for months, he is used once a week if he is lucky and when they are on it is rarely longer than 4 or 5 minutes an episode. Pretty sad that JT and Victoria and Tyra and Neil now get more airtime and story than Michael and Lauren. It's a perfect storm for these two characters: Hogan hates older vets and happily married couples, and MAB can't see past her obsession with all things connected to Kay.

Now, I bet this nonsense about Amber using Michael's home office (since when did he ever have an office in their 2 bedroom condo?) is just as excuse for the writers to use the Likey condo set for Amber, Deacon and the rest of the Scoobies since they seem to have no intention of using it for Lauren and Michael and their family.

I doubt they plan to use Michael and Lauren more in this Amber, Deacon, and Daniel story.

If Liz was on the show I think she would have smacked some of Billy's teeth out of his mouth.

Jill loves all of her sons. There's no reason for her to have to choose Billy over Cane. If she does prefer Cane, it's because Cane has supported her and been kind to her, whereas Billy has spent ten years berating her, ignoring her, and blaming her for all his problems (notice in his world, John never raised him, the Abbotts never helped him -- in his world, Jill is responsible for every decision and has turned his life to ruins).

Billy waltzed back into Genoa City expecting everything from a mother he didn't even want to give the time of day until it suited him. And now that he needs another reason to whine, his favorite target, Jill, is right in the crosshairs.

I also don't know what her and rich men has to do with his anger towards Jill. If he's lecturing her on morality, he should try not screwing around with his brother's wife the night before his wedding.

I like that Chance was there to defend his grandmother.

Because of Billy Miller I think Billy could be unpleasant as possible and still be loved. The more he yells at Jill the sorrier I feel for her and Cane. I know everyone says tptb prop Cane, but Billy has been propped plenty times himself.

Frankly I think Billy Miller is somewhat overrated, he doesn't sell most of these emotional scenes very well for me. However, I agree Billy will still be loved. Billy can screw anyone he wants in whatever way he wants and the show will always find a way to put him at center stage and try to generate sympathy for him. Jill has become so devalued as a character that it's easy for viewers to side with Billy. We see what seems like every single fragment of Billy's emotional state, everything he is thinking and feeling. He is everywhere. Jill is this lost soul who is according to the show a failure as a mother and a businesswoman and is there just to be a punching bag for her sons, and to react to Katherine.

I'm glad Chance defended Jill. I'm sure Billy will use this as an excuse to hate yet another of his relatives, but I don't care. He would have found some other excuse anyway. Considering what he's done to the relatives he doesn't hate, like Jack, perhaps you're better off if he hates you.

OMG, I found Katherine's confession to be SINGULAR! Just out of the park. If this is true, and she believes it, what wisdom Kay has come to embody?

I also found Jill's reaction to be authentic. More with her face than her words, Jill admitted she had internalized all that loathing as self-loathing. If Kay now was pulling the plug out of the bathtub full of hate, what was left for Jill? Her whole adult life has been fashioned in reactive hate around Kay? For Kay NOW to admit maybe she was wrong....well...what does that do to Jill's whole identity?

A fascinating moment. I hope it is continued. It was the best ending to this show that I can remember seeing in ages. I also liked the whole attempt to deepen some of the Chancellor perspectives -- Chance's, Billy's.

Kudos to Lisa Connor and Theresa Zimmerman for a just-terrific episode!

Yes, wouldn't it have been nice if we'd seen more leading up to Katherine's confession?

Jill is right. Nothing could be crueler than to tell Jill this long after the fact.

I would like to believe this will lead them to a new relationship, and that the dynamics will change from Katherine the Great and Jill the Ungrateful.

I hope they aren't going to have Jill try to ruin her marriage to Murphy, or her actions cause Murphy to be killed.

Lisa Connor won't be getting any kudos from me. Her episodes have generally been the most boring, uncharacteristic in terms of dialogue, and horribly botched things I've ever seen on this show.

We already had similar conversations between Kay and Jill when they it was revealed that they weren't mother and daughter. This is just another attempt to dress up the show and use old history in a hollow attempt to make the audience accept whatever they dish out to us.

That said, the Kay/Jill stuff was definitely the less damaging thing about this particular episode.

Y&R and especially this writing regime doesn't do build up anymore, it's all about shoving everything down our thraots at one time.

I agree about KS but as for Hayley Erin, ahh no. I think she's just awful. The girl smiles at the most inappropriate times, e.g. sad scenes and IMO is just off. She sounds to me like she's just reading the words. I saw her on an episode of 2 1/2 Men and she wasn't bad but on Y&R not so much. With the smiling during serious or sad scenes, seems to me she may have been taking lessons from her on-screen sister. ;)

Nikki and Paul are getting married in 2 days? WTF? When did this all go down. I knew they were engaged but dont remember any planning of this wedding

Billy and Mac are supposed to be a secret? I think Billy told her that he hasnt told Chloe yet. Um she already knows

Billy Miller's shark-teeth are seriously distracting. He needs invisible braces. Carl, I agree that BM is overrated. It's slim pickins though with this cast outside of the vets. TS can't handle the "big" story for Colleen, for example, so they had to give it someone who at least knows how to talk American and doesn't dart their eyes to the cue cards every other second. Hayley Erin is adequate for now but she's not really able to carry a story. KS is a find. The problem is that there's little room for the teen stories because MAB has given all that time/space/energy to the Scoobies. Why develop Abby if you have Amber acting like a tween? Why bring on Kyle or Ricky when you have to create silly hijinks for Kevin & Daniel?

I trust this board will tell me when/if to start watching again. I did see the clip on DC of MJ raping Jack. I knew it was gross but I didn't feel anything cause this show is that far gone but I did notice that SH looks smashing in a short bathrobe.

They've made it difficult to be invested in most of the characters. Jack's been so unrecognizable since they took over.

I will never know what their plans were for the teens. Something obviously happened to make them very abruptly drop focus on Noah/Eden. I don't believe it was bad fan reaction, because other unpopular stories have kept going. And I still don't know the point of bringing Abby back, her relationship with Victor was superrushed (saying "DADDY!" and running into his arms in her first scene) and it's as if Brad never existed. They should have said Abby was in the Scotty Fenmore Boarding School.

Good show today Canadian, tomorrow US, but it could just be because of the wonderful flashbacks of Nikki, including a few of her and Paul for once. A little late though in developing their romance, that should have been done months ago.

Patty Jane running around all over town is stupid as can be. She should at least be wearing a blond wig, which would help explain why Jack would think it's Sharinit.

And the sad day has come

    • I think they’re desperately trying to cover his awful tattoos. But anyway them being unable to style short kings properly has been a major pet peeve of mine for a while now.  I honestly don’t understand what some people expect from actors to even begin considering them for recognition. Let’s be real—awards mostly mean that an actor is respected by their peers and has some level of cultural relevance. Actual judgment on the acting itself? That’s often secondary—highly subjective and shaped by the times. I completely agree on both points. If you’re an actor or a dancer you shouldn’t get any tattoos (sorry not sorry). Tomas’ tattoos are ugly too. And regarding the couples- you’re completely right. These writers are unable to write romance.   Further comments: - Kat cannot be this dumb to keep tampering with evidence over and over again. And I’m officially not a fan of the actress—every time she’s in a scene with Leslie, she doesn’t seem intimidated at all. She plays it like comic relief, which is just too much, especially when paired with Leslie’s histrionics and over-the-top antics. Leslie is older, dangerous, and has literally been portrayed as homicidal—Kat should be at least a little scared. • I also didn’t like Kat playing damsel in distress with the hotel manager. It gave off the same weird energy as Dani with the cop. I would’ve much preferred the version Paul Raven suggested, with her sneaking in through housekeeping. • And yes, Dani again accused Hayley of faking the pregnancy—this time even specifying she might be using a pillow under her shirt. (No fake miscarriage being mentioned) I stand by my take: this is ridiculous writing. No one in the real world—except us, the chronically online soap watchers—would even think of such a conspiracy theory. Haley is no Beyoncé. • What in the world was Chelsea wearing in her hair the other day? And this whole thing with Madison is beyond cringe. Chelsea’s coming off as needy and toxic—basically like every other Dupree. • I’m glad the casino storyline is moving forward, but it’s still boring as hell. Honestly, I’d be so here for a plot twist where Vanessa and Doug take Joey out. • The direction and editing lately have been rough. Abrupt cuts, weird pacing… something just feels off overall. There’s a strange uneasiness to how it’s all coming together. • And finally: Tomas is too much of a saint. Where are the messy sluts when you need them? (Vanessa doesn’t count.)
    • Andrew sure has hard nips.
    • I was watching some August 1987 episodes and they brought back so many memories. I had some thoughts: Lisa and Jamie were so dull. Lisa was such a nothing character. It boggles my mind that so much story was centered around her in such a short amount of time. Joanna Going is a talented actress, but the material was just not there.  It was so good to see Wallingford and Mitch again. I know there was talk about Felicia a while back, but these episodes reminded me how integral Felicia was for the show.  Sally Spencer was done so dirty. She is turning in superb performances in an icky storyline. I wish she had stuck around longer. She has chemistry with everyone. The McKinnons should have lasted longer. Spencer had some strong stuff with Stephen Schnetzer and Mary Alexander. AW waster such a talented actress by getting rid of her. Justice for Cheryl too. I also missed Ed Fry when he left. Sandra Ferguson was a star from the moment she came on. She was charismatic and just popped. She had immediate chemistry with RKK and blended in well with Wyndham and Watson. I'd forgotten about the teenage Matthew.  I have no memory of Peggy Lazarus. She must not have lasted long. Was the original plan for John that he was going to turn out to be the twins' real father?
    • If the new and improved copies that @rsclassicfanforever has uploaded can be manually moved into the "by month, by year" folders, that would be awesome. I personally don't think it's necessary to keep the older versions (which either have Dutch subtitles hard coded on them, or are lesser in picture quality). That's a lot of valuable drive space that could be cleared. Just my view but can appreciate others may feel differently. The structure had been by month by year previously, so I think it would be easier to conform to that, where so much prior work to get it to that format has already been done. Hopefully you can "drag and drop" so the new copies are in the right month/year? Re Clips, I never look at them now we pretty much have the episodes in full. Appreciate others may use, however. Thanks for all your hard work here @BoldRestless!
    • Oh yes defintely, Josh Griffith repeats and repeats the same storylines.
    • Isnt’t this storyline similar to the Cameron Kirsten situation though? Sharon thought she killed him. He ended up being alive and Sharon was being tormented with thinking she was seeing his face everywhere and that’s how we got that iconic scene with her and Nikki in the sewers.   I understand in Mariah’s case this is different circumstances but it does seem like a play on that whole thing. Maybe I’m wrong. I just wish if they were going to make any character follow in Sharon’s foot steps it would be Faith. Mariah wasn’t even raised by her, and her personality is different. I would expect her to take a different path. I understand I could be completely jumping ahead because the storyline hasn’t even played out yet but we’ll see.
    • Thanks again @Paul Raven Monica was completely without redeeming qualities at this point. I always found the whole Monica = Carly narrative regressive, as I don't think shows comparing characters so heavily is ever a great idea, but she's actually worse than Carly was. Was it the Pollocks who had Leslie have a miscarriage?  Giving her a child, especially by rape, was not a good idea, but a part of me wishes they'd committed to it just to see what story it might have had in later years.
    • @janea4old Your detailed explanation and delving into the psychology and motivations is no doubt the opposite of what we will see onscreeen. As @ranger1rg stated we will get a few scenes and some sketchy explanations. Like the adoption of Aria, most of it will take place off screen.
    • I'm suddenly fearful that DAYS is going to pull a Flowers-for-Algernon stunt and Bo's progress will be reversed.  While @te. is stuck on Abe's tiny bedroom, I can't stop thinking of the size of Bo's huge hospital room.
    • Okay, why are Paulina and Abe sleeping like that?!  I'd take a screen grab if I wasn't lazy, but come on.
