Vivian is such a JER character, I never liked her after he left and the character seemed totally lost by the time Sorel was fired. I don't think anyone can write this type of character but JER.

I think Gary Tomlin could have a handle on her. He did campy female characters well at OLTL and SuBe. I think she was just stuck in really bad, demeaning stories after JER left. I mean the stuff she did near the end of his run, losing everything and dressing as a french fry and having seances with Chester Tate, that was dumb, but the stuff after that, with the chip in her tooth which made her a slave to Stefano, I thought that story was just wrong.

I'll be surprised if she's actually hired, I know they have more money now but they can't have this much to keep bringing old faces back. I do hope we see her again.

I actually liked Vivian when she was evil.better.After Lawrence left they toned her down and made her more of a comic character.I mean she still schemed and lied.But she turned quite soft.

I'm inclined to agree. I mean there has been not a HINT of this elsewhere. I hope for all of her fans that she comes back. I definitely see how it could work.

I'm excited this was confirmed. Vivian is a very unique character and will be bring some freshness back to Days. September is shaping up to be a great month for Days.

Louise Sorel, who appeared as Vivian Alamain on "Days of Our Lives" from March 1992-February 2000, is returning to Salem! Sorel will be back on screen in late September. During her time on "Days", Sorel was nominated for six Soap Opera Digest Awards and won five of them (villainess, 1994; supporting actress, 1996; female scene stealer, 1995, 1997, 1999). Over 2,400 episodes will have aired by the time Sorel returns, amking this the 14th longest absence ever on "Days" (a list of the top 20 is below).

In the storyline, Vivian was introduced as the aunt of Lawrence Alamain. She made an explosive debut in Salem, shooting a man dead in her first-ever scene. She was a long-time foil of Carly Manning (Crystal Chappell, who is also returning to "Days" this fall), and even ended up burying Carly alive. Vivian had long-time romances with both Stefano DiMera and Victor Kiriakis. In fact, in 1995, Vivian gave birth to Philip Kiriakis through in-vitro fertization. She left town in February 2000 with her long-time sidekick, Ivan Marais, who had ended up winning millions of dollars, and the pair had not been heard from since.

Since leaving "Days" in 2000, Sorel made brief appreances on three soaps, as Donatella Stewart on "Port Charles" in 2000, as Judge Kay Campbello on "All My Children" in 2001 and as Dort on "Passions" in 2004. Sorel, 69, was born Louise Jacqueline Cohen on August 6, 1940 in Los Angeles, California.
