I love Nick and Sharon together, and (as I have said before) I think they are the end game.

But I think Nick and Phyllis is amazing. They are two grownups who like to play with each other and each other's bodies. They enjoy each other physically and playfully. They are a couple that (except now) isn't mired in Sturm und Drang...they share some beers and some country music and some video games. It is comfortable and natural. I like that she calls him on his sh!t, and vice versa, and outside of this recent Sharon debacle, they roll with it. They go through daily hassles, but at the close of the day, they are there for each other. I've said this before, but for me, they could be like Davenport and Furillo from Hill Street Blues..."the beautiful refuge in which I end my day".

At the same time, when they need support--they give it. The current writing has unbalanced this couple, and they are not weathering it so well...but I actually feel this couple is much more solid than some give it credit. They have a friendship, and a sexually explosive chemistry. I cannot think of a hotter adult romance on daytime right now. (Quickly racking brain...Zendall...nope; Rex and Gigi...nope; Liaison....DEFINITELY no....Scrubs....maybe; Bope...no...Nuke....no....Otalia...well maybe Otalia).

And no I am not kidding.

That's what i love about the pairing, cause it would force Neil to be interesting. i think she could press buttons in him that haven't been pushed in along, long time.

Yay! I think it'd be all kinds of fun.

As I said before, Sharon needs to raise this kid with Jack, and Nick needs to leave Phyllis. Sharon will be committed to raising this kid with Jack, while suppressing her feelings for Nick for years. Nick and Sharon will always be tied and they'll always have these chance encounters, but it would take years for them to finally reunite.

Phyllis needs a new love interest or they can write her off. I honestly think she's ran her course on this show in some way. I know Sylph agrees.

I've never seen anything like this. They're very one-note and have always been so.

I completely disagree again, I just do NOT see it AT ALL.

The problem with Phick now is that it's reduced Phyllis to an idiot. She's not being PHyllis when she has to keep "sucking it up" in order to keep her marriage. i'm still waiting for the look of how could you do this to me. I'm sure she's said it, but it just hasn't felt like it there. When she was with Danny, she had to keep all her secrets away from him so the plotting and scheming worked, but the plotting and scheming to hurt Sharon doesn't. And i still don't understand how Phyllis and Jack are so close after she completely threw him under the bus with the credit card receipts. That whole beat was totally dropped. Bottom line - i don't think a woman like Phyllis would put up with Nick sleeping with Sharon, twice. i think she'd try to hurt HIM not his mistress.

Yes, Phyllis had a horrible start on this show as a psycho. I'd like to think that Nick helped her heal some of those insecurities...and sadly that is no longer true. He now compounds them.

Let me also say I love the way Phyllis is with Nick's son, Noah. She offers support, love, friendship and stability...while Noah's mom consistently does not. She is a true wife and stepmom...a partner. It does kill me now, as Nick is catting around. I wish he'd open his eyes and see what a remarkable prize he has. Hot, funny, sexy, and totally devoted. These videos will make you retch...but they are a part of the reason that Nick should thank his stars for Phyllis.

Gosh it has been said many times over daytime as hit all kinds of lows. I see no romance in this couple so if they count for adult romance that's eerie. I do see an established friendship and I do see sexual chemistry (in a way). The problem with Phick is the characters supress each other. Nothing romantic in the pairing for me, it's a world each character created: him to get off while putting distance between himself and pain and her to get off while putting her mark on a new territory and giving herself a prize. To me Phyllis is just not for Nick.

Phyllis is being written as desperate, it's not what many envision for the character but it is not "unlike" her. She's always been a control freak. In her mind what she's fighting for is the ideal family she has finally gotten. It's already gone but the character is desperately trying to hold on to it. Plus I so buy that a woman like Phyllis does not want to lose to the likes of Sharon

Don't you remember how they both resisted pushing their affair? They tried to fight it. Chemistry won out.

What you describe, for Nick, is an accurate origin story. But they became something more...friends and lovers. As for Phyllis...never for a second did I perceive her "marking territory". Never for a second did I sense she was attracted to him because of the Newman money. I didn't even read that in subtext.

He's a hot, funny guy. They play video games and he throws down quite nicely. Over time, they became business partners and saw each other through some challenging times. They are not a couple of deeply expressed emotions. Instead, they are the second marriage...after all the drama and foolish youthful idealism is over...easy, sexy, realistic. Nick was with Sharon as a boy...literally just out of highschool. With Phyllis, he became a man. Of integrity even. (Until this latest debacle, which upsets me somewhat).

    • Well, Josh was a horndog. LOL Yep. It was one of the first really weird things Reva did with her PPD. She became obsessed with the idea that Dylan and Sam should get married. Sam was only 17, and needed her parent's permission. Reva helped them leave town so they could go to a neighboring state where Sam was old enough. Ross, Billy and Josh stopped them, then Sam went to India to try and persaude Justin. Reva followed her and didn't tell Josh she was going. While Reva was gone, Josh advertised for nannies, and Harley applied. He ended up hiring someone else. But when Reva returned, she hired Harley because (in her weird mental state) she wanted someone she could trust with the kids (because she feared Josh was trying to get rid of her and that Vanessa wanted the children.). After Reva starts treatment, she asks Harley to stay until she's stronger because she's good with the kids. At the party, Reva starts going off the rails, insulting Justin and Josh hauls her to a private dining room to ask WTF. Reva starts confronting him about the "affair" with Vanessa, and he realizes she is weird. He locks her in the dining room and frees Mindy and Van from the ladies room (where Reva has locked them in). Van starts telling him that Reva attacked her and needs help.  Reva escapes out the window of the dining room and goes back to the party, climbs onto a table and starts a striptease. Josh gets her to stop, takes her home and after filling Ed in, decides to go to the doctor the next day. Reva then takes off and spends days running around town, coming on to a guy she thinks is Billy, Billy, Hamp, Frank and Roger.  Roger takes her to his apartment and takes nude pictures of her, which he tries to blackmail Billy with. He wants the deed to the land the Towers is on in exchange for them. (Billy had been left the deed by a sweet old lady who lost her home in the 5th street fire. Roger had stolen the deed from her before she died. After Roger took those pics of Reva, she saw him hide them, and took an envelope from the hiding place. She didn't realize she'd taken the deed and not the pictures.)  Anyway, Billy and Vanessa trick Roger into burning the pictures, claim the deed and at the Towers opening reveal that Billy owns the land and therefore the Towers. That's what led to Roger and Alex's breakup and Roger and Mindy's affair.
    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.

    • Cat herself will be a stumbling block all her own as she vowed to Chad to stay away from him, thus redeeming her of her crime morally. Classic DAYS would have them gazing longingly at each other at Doug's Place or Blondie's, while Liz is serenading the room with a song aptly chosen to represent their feelings of emotional turmoil.
    • From what I just recently watched, they were setting her up to go into future stories. She was Emmy nomination worthy in the material I saw. If some viewers did not like her, the character could have been rehabilitated after that sick storyline. It feels like they destroyed a character for fun and then tossed her to the curb. Spencer had chemistry with everyone. I'm just retroactively angry on Spencer's behalf.  You're right about how Cheryl was often forgotten and pushed aside and I would take Cheryl over Josie. I think soaps need characters like Cheryl. Characters like Josie are way too common. Josie always got on my nerves.
    • CBS was back in third place in 1994/95. That was the season CBS lost NFL broadcasting rights which also cost them several established affiliates in major media markets. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived. 1995/96 CBS was trying to be young and cool to compete with NBC and Fox, but it was an epic failure and CBS was once again in third place.
    • I tend to think that Chad will actually listen to Jen (this time). And that will be the next stumbling block in their relationship, which will open the possibilities for Cat to seek another member of their love triangle... To iterate my earlier thought, I am also not a fan of the person Melissa Reeves, but the character of Jennifer looks so chic this week, especially in comparison to Hope (and Gabi).  That blunt haircut is a winner.
    • I think Cheryl was essentially replaced by Josie, and it seems likely that Lemay wanted to bring the Frames back into the picture and for a variety of reasons that it would be McKinnons who would make way for them. Cheryl didn't really get many layers -- she was pretty and kind and sweet and faded into the background so that Scott could participate in the AIDS storyline with Dawn. Looking at the AWHP, other than (not very) shockingly being in love with her mother's adopted son Scott, Cheryl apparently went out with Sam and flirted with much-too-old-for-her John Hudson and MJ's ex-boyfriend/pimp Chad. I know MJ told Mary that she had been a prostitute, but did she tell Cheryl and did she tell anyone about Chad's pimping?
    • I feel the same way about Melissa Reeves' Jennifer. She just makes the show feel like home by her presence alone. I am perfectly okay with them coming in every once and awhile, which probably fits Reeves' schedule better anyway. Their connections to Salem are still there: JJ, the grandkids, Jack still owning half of The Spectator ... they're perfect recurring characters. All this talk of Jennifer being in the wrong regarding Cat is absurd. Jennifer is not being villainized in any way, shape, or form, she's just being allowed to actually be human, which adds odds to the obstacle of Chad and Cat eventually getting together. All inner conflict. Keep it coming!
    • Hahaha. Jean Hackney, Angelica Nero, and the Falcon Crest henchwomen were all straight out of a James Bond movie.
