Members dragonflies
http://soapnet.go.com/soapnet/article/path...generalhospital Sad news, "GH" fans: Rick Hearst, the Emmy-winning actor who has played sleazy lawyer Ric Lansing since 2002, will be leaving the show. His last episode is set to air in June. ABC released the following statement about Rick's departure: "We're saddened for GH fans but personally thrilled for Rick. We wish him nothing but success. Rest assured that the character of Ric Lansing will have an exit you won't want to miss." This news comes amid swirling rumors that Rick will head back to "The Bold and the Beautiful," possible to resume his role as Brooke's ex Whip. (P.S.: No one names their kids "Whip" anymore. It's a shame. We think they hand you a country club membership with your birth certificate if your parents opt for "Whip.") Of course, if he IS headed to "B&B," can we make a small request that he swing by "Guiding Light" for a brief return as Alan-Michael Spaulding? Pllleeeeeaaase? Anyway, it's going to be sad to lose Rick (the actor) -- and Ric (the character) -- from "GH." From Day One, Ric was one of the all-time scumbaggy characters. He locked Carly in a secret panic room, carried on a never-ending (and kind of sad) vendetta against Sonny, he cheated on Alexis with her own DAUGHTER. He even narc'd on Alexis for smoking medicinal marijuana! FOR HER CANCER! Amazingly enough, through it all, Ric remained a popular character -- probably because Rick Hearst played him so skillfully. He didn't win those two Daytime Emmys (in 2004 and 2007) for nothing. Wherever he goes from here, no doubt he'll win accolades and fans all over again. And we seriously can't wait to see how he ends his days in Port Charles. If we know Ric, he won't go quiet.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
I love Rick and I wish him well. I always thought he was too good for GH anyway. I've loved Rick ever since I started watching GL in the early 90's, so it would totally be cool if he could squeeze out an appearance as Alan-Michael again for the finale. Members Sylph
Yeah. Yet everyone will tune in to see the exit. People are so easily deceived, and every single time all over again, it's unbelievable.

Members CSF
Totally agree with ya there, Ann. Like, hello, they drop him to recurring and then write this elaborate press release. Umm... okay, GMAFB! Rick Hearst is an amazing actor and is way too good for ABCD. Loved him as Alan-Michael and would definitely tune into GL to see him make a brief return before it ends. Members quartermainefan
Ditto. I see these columns saying he is arguably the best actor on GH. On that I would agree: it is arguable and I'd argue against it. What I think is inarguable is his character was a dud, a dramatic dead end from the word go, he brings nothing to the show, the actor was incompetent at anything other than playing angry, deranged, and screaming a mile a minute, he has no charisma in romantic scenes, no affinity for comedy...he actually makes GH worse. Members dragonflies
Yeah sorry can't agree. Ric was popular and stayed popular despite Luza's attempts to destroy Ric for Scummy and Jason. That was all because of Rick Hearst
Administrator Toups Posted May 6, 2009 Administrator Share Posted May 6, 2009 Awesome! Rick deserves so much better than that piece of shit of a show. Rick should be a lead actor, not playing second fiddle to the likes of Steve Burton and Maurice Benard. Hopefully the next show he lands on will actually use his talents. Congrats on being free, Rick!

Members MTSRocks
Ric Hearst is incredible. Screw GH.
Members Taiah
Good for RH cause GH had no real use for him other than to play pathetic loser badguy to all of Luza's pets. But I hope his time on B&B is very short just like last time.
