I was looking through a Digest from mid-1986 and they mention rumors that Judi Evans was going to join her then-fiance, Chris Whitesell, at AW. I guess that was just a rumor, but I wonder who she would have played. I can see her as Vicky/Marley.

What did you guys think of Rhonda Lewin?

Yes, she was on for a few months in summer/fall 1981. She was Barbara Wilde's (AW alum Judith Barcroft) bitchy frenemy on the Proud and the Passionate. She would "joke" about Barbara being old and fat.

I didn't know that Lenore/Ann was on RH. Interesting. I'd like to check Ellen out, you know, you never think about these things until it's too late. They probably won't make it all the way back to '81 again. :( If you ever come across anything on YouTube, please link me. :)

Judith was on the show from summer 1981 to early 1982. She played Barbara Wilde the neurotic soap star who had spent 25 years on the Proud on the Passionate as the lead heroine and was obsessive about every detail. She knew that her career was over when the show was (and it was close to being canceled -- a lot of her outrage about the changes in the show basically is a mirror to the exact same stuff killing a lot of longrunning soaps at this time). She dated Seneca but got upset when she realized he didn't want her. She then choked on a canape and Roger had to save her life but she sued him because she claimed his milogram made her paralyzed. She was faking. The story became much less interesting when it became about the lawsuit and stopped being about the soap. Like many stories on the show at this time it felt made up as it went along and also lazy.

Judith did not get along with John Gabriel/Seneca, and frankly, you could tell when they're onscreen together.

There isn't a lot of her on Youtube. If I ever learn how to put my tapes onto Youtube you will see more! For now, here's a Casablanca fantasy:

Judith also talks about RH in this interview, along with AMC and AW. Her story about going back to AW as a day player always makes me sad.

THANKS! OMG, that Casablanca scene was so weird! The visual of Judith all decked out in a wheelchair fake playing that piano with the finesse of a three-year-old and affecting that Nancy Marchand-meets-Sally Kellerman voice, oh my. It got incredibly more interesting when Delia started to dance across the room and snatched the notes. Roscoe Born was so young.

Thanks for the WLS interview, I think I only read part 1 and forgot to go back.

I like Ellen's girlish voice. She could have played Roya Megnot's big sis. Love my dark brunette vixens. ^_^ Uhhh, is that Bill Blass?

Oh, and Ellen and Cusi Cram REALLY favored one another around this time.

I'd forgotten Cassie was already on the show when Ellen temped for Robin.

Randall Edwards and Roscoe Born were getting together at this time in real life. They have nice chemistry onscreen (he had none with Ann Gillespie, probably best known as Kelly's loser mother on 90210).

The best Delia fantasy was, "HELLO, DELIA!", but I guess that belongs more in the RH thread.

What the hell...

Back on topic for AW, here's Morgan Freeman a year or two before he was cast in Bay City.

The episodes end on 10/5/1992.. just before Donna Swajeski left as headwriter and replaced with the associate writer Peggy Sloane and some other guy. Since telenext stopped uploading episodes before the changing of the guard, I was wondering if there was a noticeable difference in tone, story, characters, etc after the changeover? For instance, was there any sudden storyline shifts, character departures, character changes, etc?

    • Maeve breaks me reading that letter. If you ever need to cry, look it up. Other than the dopey line about Henry wanting to come home to Van's rice (or tapioca) pudding (VANESSA CHAMBERLAIN DOES NOT COOK, Y'all...) it's a sweet sign-off to one of the best father/daughter relationships on soaps. Other than Ross, and Bill (if he says something, which I assume he does) and the letter, the rest of it is BS. I haven't watched it in a while, but it typifies what I dislike most about events that should be laden in history. The writers are too lazy to do the work and get it right. And it becomes about making sure characters X, Y and Z make their guarantees. Roger being there is an abomination. Henry never ever saw Nola as a gold-digger. She and Quint were practically engaged before he even knew Quint was his son. Before that, he was fairly close to Bea and enjoyed Nola's spirit. And Henry never helped Rick become an Eagle Scout.  I get that maybe you don't want to play Amanda#1 or Dinahs 1&2, or Billy, Trish or Alan #1 clips, but damn it....don't make stuff up. I'd have much rather watched clips from Henry, Vanessa and Ross' early days than Rick blather on, or nuMichelle try and dig for a human-like emotion or wonder why after TEN YEARS, Dinah and Quint have never met.   Do not remember anyone named Tina. I barely remember Dahlia, and that's mostly because for a while, I saw Sharon Leal in everything after she left GL.   Reva and Josh airhogs? ALWAYS, darling. ALWAYS. RME. I hate to tar and feather Robert Newman with that brush, but DAMN.
    • Oooooooooooooo a Jazmen script off of a Sara Bibel breakdown.    I'm intrigued. Lol. Yeah, one thing I can say for sure...when SilkPress is about to have a crazy moment, they do give her music.
    • I am so happy now. Reminds me of the 80s show I loved. Ron really did the cast and fans dirty. The only people complaining are those who only knew Ron and his whiplash plot driven stories
    • 1985/86 wrapped up during the weeks of May 12-18, 1986 and May 19-25, 1986. Here's how the sophomore slaughterer, sophomore surprise, and the four soaps wrapped up the season. Pam awakens to a surprise in her shower. Murder, She Wrote - If the Frame Fits (season 2 finale, May 18, rating 21.7, 6th): Jessica is spending her holidays with an old friend, Lloyd Marcus. His daughter is found murdered in her house and her husband Donald becomes the prime suspect. Dynasty - The Triple-Cross (May 14, rating 20.5, 9th): Ben gains control of the contracts in the South China Sea after tarnishing Blake's reputation. Steven is stopped in his attempt to reveal Adam's secret. Sammy Jo and Clay have a romantic evening. Knots Landing - The Longest Night (season 7 finale, May 15, rating 20.0, 10th): Karen vanishes after closing Lotus Point. Val sees Cathy and Ben together. Tipsy Peter visits Abby. Gary finds Val on the beach. Falcon Crest - Captive Hearts (May 16, rating 18.8, 12th): Chase is shot during Maggie's escape. Angela sends Lance to break up Melissa and Eric. Jordan is arrested. Emma advises Li-Ying. Dynasty - The Vendetta (season 6 finale, May 21): Alexis plans the ultimate revenge on Blake. Claudia is trapped behind the flames when she sets her room on fire. Sammy Jo and Amanda fight for Clay's attention. Blake learns about Ben's acquisition. Falcon Crest - The Cataclysm (season 5 finale, May 22): Chase fights for life. Jeff takes Greg and Jordan hostage. A huge earthquake strikes.
    • Source for this? Especially since Benz was already on AMC as Linda Connor.

    • @soapfan770 1995/96 to 1999/2000 were not very good in primetime. CBS and ABC both had primetime mess eras, and that's how NBC got away with their Thursday garbage shows finishing in the Top 10. Remember too that ABC was sold to Disney in 1996.  As for ABC primetime mess era, it started with the Top 10 fallout of Roseanne and ended with the breakout success of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Monday Night Football and Home Improvement pretty much kept ABC alive in that era.
    • This show is miles better under the new writers. It's really a condemnation of Carlivati, because he had the characters and history to write good soap. Instead, he turned it into a joke and a farce. I've heard some people says DAYS is now "too talky." Miss me with that stupid analysis.
