But as his boss, isn't it up to MAB to make sure he doesn't drop stories? He's a co-head writer, not the head writer, like at ATWT and Days. So he's not necessarily writing his own stuff, but writing somebody else's stories that he has input on.

Maria just isn't a real storyteller. I just can't grasp how one part of the show can be really good, while the other part (which she clearly gives no attention to) is appalling. Y&R might be better than the other soaps on right now, but is that saying much?

Of course, I realize things take time. But really, I've given her time to sort out some of her problems, but the Winter's and Tyrant aren't getting any better, Gloria and Jeffrey's purpose on this show is still lost on me, certain characters have been ignored for months and that doesn't look like it's about to change, and her pacing is all over the place in some storylines.

As I said before, I think it's wise for Maria to keep her EP title, and hand over the HW reigns to a real "storyteller." Hogan and certainly Scott Hamner should be phased out when their contracts are up.

Anyway, I still stand by convincing Patrick Mulcahey to HW the show, along with help from Natalie Minardi Slater. Pat is a storyteller, and Nat loves Y&R and has worked in every writing position on a soap opera writing staff, I think she deserves the chance to at least Co-HW by now.

Y&R's has a lot of vestigial characters these days, like the Baldwin-Fisher's, Amber, Chole, and even Phyllis that appear direction-less and one-note, in a sense. I'd love to see Mulcahey attempt to try to put some dept and give these characters a clear-cut purpose, like he helped to do with the Cooper's on GL, or Carly and many of the other vestigial characters on GH. Not to mention, I trust that he'd honour the core families of the show and respect its unique attributes.
