I wonder if any of the amazing quality of the week-long Frank/Natalia non-wedding last week on Guiding Light, and Olivia and Natalia revealing their love for each other, will even be reflected in the ratings. My heart says please yes, and my brain says probably not.

Same here, ATWT_GL_fan!

I think OLTL's time slot will keep it safe. If ABC canceled it, there would be a gaping hole between AMC and GH, and both shows would be negatively impacted. For once the neglected "middle child" may actually benefit from its time slot.

ZF, I totally agree with you. It's AMC dropping to a 1.7 and getting cancelled before OLTL. Look at AMC's recent recast of the legend Liza Colby Chandler. Pratt/Frons hired some porn actress to recast Liza who they think will save the day for them. How much lower can AMC go? The 1.7 is on it's way. AMC has become cheap and disgusting. I know some on this board think I want AMC to get cancelled or fail, but that 's not the case it's the writing and these stunts, no character storylines and recasts like the porn actress for Liza Colby Chandler that's killing AMC. What the hell has happened to this once classy show?

AMC, until last week, has kept its momentum of the 100,000 viewers or so it has gained. Its viewership numbers are becoming more and more consistent as the #1 ABC soap.

OLTL's audience has always been more "volatile" and in my opinion less loyal- rightly/wrongly/whatever

I stand by the fact that despite OLTL making more money, it will still be the first show to go. All that money saved would allow them to get AMC into financial shape. Losing any one of the three shows is gonna save a huge amount of money.

Me too. I could take months to dig outta last weeks hole. -260,000 viewers or something sounds like pissed off or bored audience members.

I kinda like Stacey so that's just me. The show's balance seems strange.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
    • Thanks for finding that. I may have been thinking of this blog entry.
