Members marceline
Good for them. Leverage new media and make the most of a global audience plus they get stats they can give back to advertisers to augment the Nielsen numbers.
Members Adam
More soaps should undertake this type of model. Its where the future of serialized drama is, the internet.

Members Y&RWorldTurner
B&B would be the second soap legally streamed on YouTube, after Y&R, which is screened via the CBS video channel. It looks like B&B will have a channel of its own though.
Members reallyhateskateonlost
ABC as usual is behind the times. All of the soaps, whats left them, should be on seen on youtube.

Members MarkH
It sounds like they're going to limit content to US audiences. If an international partner wants to pay for streaming rights, then they'll drop the IP filters for that country. It still sounds fine...it means they get the content up there, and available. It is essentially building an e-library of shows that they'll be able to repurpose forever. CBS holds the streaming rights for Y&R in the US, and all the non CBS streams (including Youtube) still carry the CBS logo and ads. It sounds like B&B won't do it like that...will be interesting to see. This sounds virtually identical to the Agnes Nixon/AMC international streaming thing I linked a week or two ago. Soaps are going on the net. It seems the WGA writers were right to fight for a share of streaming rights after all.

Members bellcurve
They saw that jend2004 or whoever the hell was uploading illegal current B&B content to the web was getting thousands of hits with streaming the show, so they wanted to get in on the fun. Who can blame them? It's their stuff. Just don't take down the classic content, dudes!

Members JackPeyton
so AMC & OLTL are the only soaps not legally online? What a shame. I have to say i really do not watch any soaps on tv anymore. I watch Y&R on youtube. Days on iTunes. and those are the only two current soaps im watching now (full time), i also watch Another World on Hulu. I really do think this is the future, if there is one.
