ABC Daytime crown jewel General Hospital is starting to look a little more like Cubic Zirconia these days. Early ratings reports for Monday didn't look good for the soap. Insiders are predicting GH could once again be the least watched ABC soap in total households for the week, which doesn't make the network's top brass very happy.

"More money is spent to produce and promote General Hospital than the other two soap operas combined, yet AMC and OLTL are starting to consistently beat GH is the ratings," says a source. "People are paying attention."

Reportedly, ABC's long-time stepchild One Life to Live is the most "cost-effective" soap opera on ABC's daytime lineup, and currently the only Mouse House sudser operating under budget. Wow,and to think they've managed this without benefit of CGI!

"One Life to Live operating so effeciently it makes up for All My Children's overages," the source continues. "No one knows what the heck is going on with GH. For the amount of money the network shells out on this show, the numbers aren't good."

My source has said the same thing OLTL last year for 2008 came in not over budget or on budget but UNDER BUDGET. GH is a financial disaster with a budget that you can take OLTL/AMC put it combined. A bloodbath will begin on GH. Frank Valentini/Ron Carlivati really are producing a great looking show and unlike GL you cannot tell it is doing it so cost effective. It is ABC's most profitable soap right now. Once the red headed step child of ABC daytime could be ABC's last soap. AMC is having to borrow from OLTL's budget to stop their bleeding. GH is becoming the least watched ABC soap. You have to give it to Frank Valentini/RC they are producing a soap on a shoestring budget but not losing the quality(like GL did).

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Charlie Murphy!!

In all seriousness, who can't tell GH is a money hole? "Let's hire Sarah Brown and not let her play Carly. She'll be this whore who shoots a child in the brains. It can't fail to work out!"

AMC had to take massive paycuts in November to stay on the air. Their vets are very costly. OLTL does not have expensive vets. Only Slezak commands an expensive salary while the other vets have all taken paycuts. Frank Valentini is also producing the soap at a very fast pace. They were so ahead by the time March came in, they had already taped almost till the beginning of May that the show went dark for 3 weeks. OLTL has alot of buzz as well. AMC is a dead crashing bore and no buzz and GH is a financial disaster. OLTL once the red headed stepchild could be ABC's last soap LMAO. Frons is very very happy with Valentini/Carlivati, he almost has to do nothing with OLTL. The soap is coming in UNDER BUDGET.

Frons will not get fired because the View is having it's highest ratings ever and Soapnet is reaching big highs and plus OLTL is turning good profit. His three reasons he stays employed. The View though is a huge reason.

Also Valentini has been with OLTL since 1985, he was Paul Rauch's assistant aka his bitch LOL. Valentini knows all these vets so well, he can get them to return at reasonable rates not high rates. The soap has not lost it's production quality unlike GL. The shows budget is nowhere near as high as GH and it is getting higher viewers LMAO.

Stacy is very Frons but she is the most talked about character on the net. She is hated, despised, liked, loved, abhorred and all these fans have a big reaction about her. She is a train wreck you cannot stop talking about. November though was OLTL's big month, the rapemance reveal brought it's highest ratings all year and turning in exciting TV for fans. November changed everything.

GH is very boring. I can barely get through writing the spoilers, and it's not because it's bad as much as it's boring. You know what they could use: Pratt, lol /cleverly tries to get rid of current AMC headwriter.

Well hopefully with GH falling and the issues that come with GL's cancellation (and where that leaves his line-up) Frons runs into some long overdue trouble.

    • I have not gone back to watch much of 1987, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't feel like the writers or producers had any sort of plan. The show feels as if it's constantly in flux.  I will give it credit for this. It's watchable for the most part minus Lisa/Jamie which I find nearly unwatchable now.   I don't find Cheryl mousy. I think she has a lot of quiet strength, but she was saddled with the Scott romance which the writers did not invest in. She had a good friendship with Julie (also criminally underused), and her interactions with Ada were enjoyable as well. I also like Layman, but Spencer was extremely talented and when Cass returns, Schnetzer and Spencer have some wonderful scenes. Spencer also fits in with Alexander, Hogan, and Marie.  I'd forgotten just how much I missed seeing Wallingford. IT was so good to see him again. Even when they didn't have a major plot, Felicia/Cass/Wallingford/Mitch always brings a smile to my face.
    •   Dani’s cute ass party planner. He gave me some tea but I was so drunk I don’t remember it.
    • NBC must have been grateful to have LHOTP, it's only hit and still strong after several seasons. Their next established show was Rockford Files at 45th. They didn't develop any comedies and relied on movies and mini series  which didnt establish viewer loyalty and habits. Their only new hit was mid season's Project UFO which debuted Feb up against Rhoda/On Our Own on CBS and How the West Was Won on ABC. It opened with a strong 36 share beating CBS and close to ABC as HTWWW had a 36 share over 3 hours. The next week UFO saw a respectable 32 share, then a 31 so it was slipping. A 28 share followed but a few weeks later it jumped back up to a 34. So no blockbuster but compared to what else they had, there was potential, So next season NBC sent it to Thursday up against Mork and The Waltons and it bombed.  They were smart to see potential in Chips, which took off on Saturdaysnext season. ABC was on a roll with Love Boat, 3's Company, Taxi, Eight is Enough adding to their hits. Their only real flops were Redd Foxx and San Pedro Beach Bums, an Aaron Spelling misfire. Like Redd Foxx, Harvey Korman was lured to ABC but his series was a filler that did well but was considered a time slot hit. Nancy Walker and Rob Reiner were also given series on the philosophy that not only were they popular names, their absence from popular shows like Sanford, Rhoda and All in the Family might weaken those shows. CBS were relying on old favorites. Betty White was strong the first few weeks then faded. Incredible Hulk was their strongest newbie. It was lucky for CBS that NBC was doing so badly or else some of their weaker shows would have really suffered.
    • That outfit looks like something Martin would wear lol.
    • Omg not we both ran into people from the show this weekend!
    • I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
    • Yup.  You can hate John all you want, but like seriously he was the cornerstone of the show for years.  So he should get a long ass funeral and burial and all the things because Drake and John deserve that.
