LMAO! The only one I know is that they had a rotating Emmy in its close for a while way back in the day. Speaking of which, kinda sorta, ATWT and GL had such majestic closing credits in the 90s. I loved how GL's always ended with Roger's picture. And also, the sassy announcer who did all of the promos for CBS soaps. LOVED him, with all of his "Girl..." and "What is you gon' do."

I don't remember Roger's pic at the end. Can you post? I do remember that sassy announcer. He was also the one who did the Emmy promo, "Who gets the gold, who gets the gold!" Remember that? (Look at me, tying it all in again! )

Now I remember. Wow, Guiding Light had a rock star writing staff. Nancy Curlee, Wisner Washam! They also had a rock star cast back then.

All 4 CBS soaps had different announcers, so it could be a little confusing at times. LOL!

But I think the guy who did the annoucing in the GL end credits I posted was the main CBS Daytime announcer, who did them all in the end credits for each soap.

Oh man...thanks so much for finding that. CBS Daytime was such an event to behold back then...everything was sleek and sophisticated. And that full version of Hold on to Love...so beautiful, so grand! Perfect for the world's longest running show in broadcast history!

My fave, too. I'll never forgive them for replacing this with the ridiculous non-opening. They claimed that the non-opening was gonna be similar to Hold on to Love, but it was definitely not. The 02 version was much, much more like Hold on to Love.

1. Days. Its classic and never needs to be updated. But its not outdated.

2. Y&R. I almost placed it lower however because of the lack of updates.

3. ATWT. I like the one without the cast in it.

4. AMC. Its very modern but keeps that older feel to it. They do pretty good with updates. It also has a nice flow.

5. GH. Chatoic and messy? Sure. openings should show what the show is like tho.

6. OLTL. I just dont like it.

7. GL... need i explain?

8. B&B - its just TOO much!

GL has the best -- changes every day, outdoor images, shows different cast in constantly different images depending on who is on that day, great song with a good message.

Days has the second-best -- classic.

GH, AMC, OLTL are all the same -- cookie-cutter ABC and blah.

Y&R and B&B I don't even know what they look like.

ATWT has the worst -- it doesn't exist.

OLTL's opening is so generic that a fan could make a better version.

Also, I love reading DavidEvanSmith's opinions on openings; we definately share the passion.

I think GL should have stuck with the OLTL/Port Charles (v1) ripoff opening they had, it was visually stunning and the theme tune was great. It's still a favourite of mine to this day, and if they'd even done it without the blue hue to fit with this new format it would be 100x better than the Movie Maker crap they have right now. I also hate the theme song; I wish they'd stuck with the old one.

ATWT's "current" theme song is lovely. So lovely I stole it for the opening of Heart and Soul (graphics by DavidEvanSmith, thanks!)

I also dont get why they use the black screen with the toilet flusher sound rather than the closing bars of the theme (in piano) with the gold title graphics...

1)AMC. It's choppier than it was when it first debuted and they need to update alot of the shots (Tad/Annie/Adam/Krystal/Ryan/Kendall/Zach) But, the music is awesome. I've loved that theme music since they first used it in '90 and I think this is the best version of it.

2)Y&R..Needs updates bad. But, it's a classic too. And, much better than the "porn" opening before it.

3)Days

4)B&B. I liked the old one better though.

5)ATWT.

6)GL

7)OLTL. It's just so bad!

8)GH. It's even worse. It could give you a seizure.

I wish GH would go back to the Faces of The Heart Opening. But seeing as the show no longer has a heart, what would be the point?
