January 25, 200916 yr Author Member He looks like Renato Balestra or Valentino Garavani. Minus those fake, terrible tans. That's nasty of you! If you'd said Dr Frederic Brandt looks like Renato Balestra then we could talk, but Dr Ryan?! Blasphemy! And Valentino's tan is the real deal. Edited January 25, 200916 yr by DaytimeFan
January 25, 200916 yr Member Lynda Carter is going to be 58, fabulous. Jaclyn Smith is going to be 64, fabulous. Sophia Loren is going to be 75, fabulous. Jeanne Cooper is going to be 81, fabulous. Each of these women look terrific for their age. They look as great as they possibly can and they are age appropriate. They're all the epitome of looking good for their respective ages. My point, which nobody seems to get, is that aging is an individual thing. If you feel great about yourself and how you're looking I think that's just terrific. Nobody should be trying to live up to the standard of anyone else. All they should focus on is being the best them they can possibly be. Jeanne Cooper's been a smoker, an alcoholic and a sun worshiper. She is the best Jeanne Cooper she can be and I applaud that. She's who she wants to be! All of the other ladies, plus the likes of Joan Collins, Meryl Streep, Suzanne Somers, Cheryl Ladd, Cybill Shepherd, Christine Baranski, Marie Masters and scores of others, are all taking care of themselves and being the best they can. That's what I mean. You've gotta be you so why not be the best YOU you can be? Fair enough, but I think as far as looking good for one's age, and at that age range, nobody but nobody aged better than Maureen O'Hara.

Blasphemy!

And Valentino's tan is the real deal. Sorry, DaytimeFan, I won't touch your idol anymore!!! And yup, perhaps instead of fake I should have said cheap, terrible, frightening tan.
January 25, 200916 yr Author Member Fair enough, but I think as far as looking good for one's age, and at that age range, nobody but nobody aged better than Maureen O'Hara. Maureen O'Hara is a beautiful woman, indeed she looks beautiful. But again, it's about looking good for you. Elizabeth Taylor was a beautiful woman and look what time and poor health has done to her. Sorry, DaytimeFan, I won't touch your idol anymore!!! And yup, perhaps instead of fake I should have said cheap, terrible, frightening tan. Dr Ryan and I appreciate it. I don't know the man well at all, but comparing him to THAT...oh no, oh no no no no no. Regarding Valentino's tan: it's kitsch, it's very 'him'...he is allegedly a very nice guy.

Too bad he sold his company, it was a difficult moment for him.

So, BTW, while you're mentioning Dr. Brandt... Does he occupy a high place in your constellation of dermatology/plastic surgery stars? Edited January 25, 200916 yr by Sylph

Does he occupy a high place in your constellation of dermatology/plastic surgery stars? Valentino sold at the right time, he left on top, as hard as it is...his legacy will never tarnish. Plus, he's young enough to still enjoy all that his hard work has afforded him. I respect Dr Brandt's pioneering work with Botox and the Botox brow lift...but otherwise, no. I don't like that he's made a line of really expensive skincare (I have nothing against skincare, but marketing products as if they are in any way comparable to prescription products simply based on the fact that he's a doctor is insulting to me)...Dr Brandt has done Madonna's work. I don't like how she looks...too hard...but I respect his work with Botox. My favorite 'star' dermatologist is Dr Pat Wexler of NYC. LOVE her.
January 25, 200916 yr Member Getting a little off topic here, but the mention of Maureen O'Hara makes me think of Barbara Stanwyck,Loretta Young and Claudette Colbert, all of whom looked great as they aged.
January 26, 200916 yr Member In terms of aging beautifully and naturally(I guess!) Frances Reid. In her 70's and 80's always looked fabulous on Days. The white hair, classy clothes etc.
January 26, 200916 yr Member I feel like if you have the money to get plastic surgery then its your prerogative, but I feel the plastic surgeon's aren't doing their job in turning away people that get plastic surgery like they are drinking water, aka joan van ark and michael jackson.
January 26, 200916 yr Member Daytime Fan, what do you think that Finola Hughes has had done? I think that she looks fabulous, but different from when she was younger.
January 26, 200916 yr Author Member In terms of aging beautifully and naturally(I guess!) Frances Reid. In her 70's and 80's always looked fabulous on Days. The white hair, classy clothes etc. She has always been a trim, classy, elegant lady. Her face shape is one that simply ages pretty well and she took good care of her skin. Daytime Fan, what do you think that Finola Hughes has had done? I think that she looks fabulous, but different from when she was younger. Finola is a great looking woman. She's kept herself updated with Botox in her forehead and between her eyebrows. That's it as far as Botox goes, she still has crows feet which keep her looking natural. That's all I think she does and she's only been hitting the Botox since the early 2000s...her forehead is markedly smoother. Finola had quite a full face when she was younger. As she's aged her face has thinned a bit, I think that's the difference you're noticing.
January 26, 200916 yr Member Daytimefan, you familiar with Dr. Denenberg in Omaha (of all places)? I've seen his name pop up in forums, he has a cool website.

Never heard of him, I'm not a plastic surgeon, but that's a very informative site he's got there...those face lift pictures would scare Joan Rivers.
January 26, 200916 yr Member It'll bite her because it already has become sun damage. UVA damage to be exact since UVA rays are responsible for tanning. It is reparable to a degree, but the contrast between her skin and someone who has never tanned will be markedly different, the elastin and collagen in her skin has already been damaged. but what if its a spray tan she gets done twice a week?... not claiming to know anything, just wondering.... lol.
