ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel off the air because of remarks. I barely watched him but he was a LOST fan and did some funny bits about the show.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/abc-pulls-jimmy-kimmel-off-the-air-indefinitely-over-his-charlie-kirk-comments-after-fcc-chairs-threats/ar-AA1MLMuk

The decision follows comments Kimmel made on Monday's show.
"We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them," Kimmel said.

The backlash intensified after Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr publicly condemned Kimmel's comments, calling them "the sickest conduct possible." In an interview with YouTuber Benny Johnson, Carr also warned that affiliate licenses could come under review, and that broadcasters are required to operate "in the public interest."

WTF?  Jimmy Kimmel said nothing wrong there at all.

Oh, I see this is the FCC Chair now...

Good grief.

The amount of people in all walks of life who have been fired in the past week... for making comments about Charlie Kirk that didn't praise him.

Wow weren't they against cancel culture and against being "woke".

Interesting how when it's the things they care about... Then the rules are different.

it is really important for news outlets to be clear (unlike the nyt here) that Kimmel was suspended not because of some grassroots backlash but because ABC caved to threats from the head of the FCC

This leaves The Tonight Show.

Back when Johnny Carson was host he would make fun of Presidents, Jay Leno had the dancing Judge Ito's from OJ's trial. The networks didn't cancel. I remember David Letterman and Jay Leno weren't going to make jokes about OJ but they changed their minds because the media was making a circus out of it.

I assume these are the remarks that got Kimmel canceled. He knew exactly what he was doing with this and bless him for it. The biggest weapon we have against MAGA right now is the truth.

I agree.

I love these two. They pull no punches when it comes to Trump and his cronies. But, most importantly, near the end of the video Jennifer Welch clarifies why comedians are a prime target of authoritarian regimes, and I think this is really something worth thinking about for those who might say: it's just a low-rated comedy show... No, it's the first step towards silencing all critical voices.
