I really would advise starting making exit plans as soon as possible because this is only going to get much worse from here and I truly believe that we're seeing our democracy fading and withering away in real time. If you guys still want to vote, that's fine  by me, but personally I really don't think it's going to make that much of a difference at this point.

Even if Kamala Harris somehow wins the election, and that's a very big IF, there is no guarantee that Donald Trump doesn't have some kind of back-up plan that's going to allow him to steal the presidency from right underneath her nose. One way or another, he's getting back in the White House and everyone needs to start preparing themselves.

With all due respect, lady, I've seen your terrible skills at predicting imaginary fanfic soap opera storylines for characters you despise and I'll pass. Thanks for stopping by the Politics Thread.

That's why there's no time to lose. Stop any semblance of infighting, choose someone as quick as possible, close ranks behind them and concentrate everything on beating Trump in November. I'm not kidding when I say that I feel this election could be one of the most important ones in history.

This is the only answer. Maybe the possibility of having a black woman president will motivate people to come out and vote. Kamala beating Trump would be so satisfying.

As one who voted for Biden in the primary (and let's stop the lie that he was unopposed. He wasn't. The options of Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson sucked, but they were there, unlike all the unicorn savior names being thrown about now!), I am beyond pissed that my vote is being invalidated for the billionaires.

If my vote carries so little weight, I am sorely tempted to vote down ballot and leave the top blank. I hate Judas traitors.

And yes, I know that means a vote for Trump. But since everyone already has him anointed, what's the effing difference?

The way all this happened was awful.  I assume you're just venting.

But... I refuse to give up.  Every vote matters.

How can it be this difficult to beat a 78-year-old convicted rapist for president?

He's not a convicted rapist. He has a civil judgement against him for rape. He should be a convicted rapist and pedophile as far as I'm concerned.

It soo would!!

In a dream world he would get beaten by a ticket of Harris and Buttigieg. Can you imagine Trump's face when he realizes he's been beaten by a woman of colour and a gay man?!

Every and anyone who has followed my posts about MVP Harris since her days as Senator knows how I feel about her but her being given such a condensed timeline is making me feel some kind of way. Of course I support her but this tight timeline isn’t fair, just as much pressuring President Biden out wasn’t fair.

Sometimes you just have to grab the chance you get. We have no idea if she would have been the nominee in 2028. If Trump beat Biden we don't even know if there would be an election in 2028 for her to run in.
