*Although I do wonder whether the Democratic candidate for governor of Mississippi could have won (or at least gotten close) had he not been so avowedly anti-abortion and run on a similar pro-choice platform as other winners in the Democratic party.

He might have, although the heavy voter suppression was probably the deciding factor.

Yes, Mississippi, like many Southern states such as Louisiana, Texas and Georgia have a well known history of voter suppression. Still, Presley didn’t seem to be a very magnetic candidate and bragging about his anti-abortion credentials on the campaign trails was never going to do much to distinguish himself from the opposition candidate.

Another example of how lawless and dangerous many Republican legislatures are in ways that even elections no longer counter.

A republican will most likely win the Manchin senate seat, right?  For all of Manchin's issues, at least his seat helped the Dems control the senate.

Correct.  That's why it's CRUCIAL for Democrats to show up at the polls next election, as there are several swing states in contention.  It won't be a cakewalk, but I think we can do it.

Someone on SM alluded to a connection between the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike and actors going back to work and Tim Scott revealing that he had a girlfriend.

Well here you go. This article confirms what we’ve known all along:  there is an orchestrated effort by Republicans to get third parties like No Labels and independent candidates to run for President in order to dilute the votes of Joe Biden and put Trump back in the White House.  Sen. Steve Daines, the head of the RSCC spend months trying to persuade Trump to endorse the governor of West Virginia in a Senate bid agains Joe Manchin.  Here’s the quote:
“Daines argued to Trump that endorsing Justice could knock Manchin out of the race — and make the Democrat more likely to run for president, siphoning votes from Biden.”
Come on @JoeManchinWV, don’t take the bait!

^ So much depends on an 81 year old man living another year. The saying "there are no atheists in foxholes" always annoyed me. Even when my son was crashing during birth I didn't pray, but you know what? I have started praying for Joe Biden. This poor man should be hanging out on Rohobeth Beach with his grandchildren. Meanwhile, he is stuck in an incredibly stressful job trying to save the free world from Trump. I cannot even imagine what four more years of Trump would do to this nation or the world. I want to believe that people are not this stupid, but I don't. I'm not sure they make an antidepressant strong enough to get me through another four years of that madman.
