THIRTEENTH vote for Speaker of the House

More than 50% must agree for a Speaker to be chosen.

In the THIRTEENTH round, 2 persons did NOT vote:
Republican Ken Buck of Colorado
and Republican Wesley Hunt of Texas.

This means that 432 of the 434 members voted.
No nominee received more than half the votes cast, so nobody elected.

People formally nominated for this 13th vote:
Republican Kevin McCarthy
Democrat Hakeem Jeffries

Nobody else was formally nominated in the 13th round.
(Jordan received votes but was not nominated)

Results of thirteenth vote:

214 votes - Republican Kevin McCarthy

212 votes - Democrat Hakeem Jeffries

6 votes for Jim Jordan (Republican from Ohio)
. **** (but Jordan voted for McCarthy)

-Those who vited for Jordan:
-Andy Biggs (AZ)
-Lauren Boebert (CO)
-Eli Crane (AZ)
-Matt Gaetz (FL)
-Bob Good (VA)
-Matt Rosendale (Montana)

Zero votes as "present"

2 persons did NOT vote:
 - - Republican Ken Buck of Colorado
 - - and Republican Wesley Hunt of Texas.

432 voted
2 did not vote.
_______________
434 total members-elect

Bob Good is a disgusting massive homophobic Liberty University bred whack job that to me is scarier than some of the usual crackpots in the House.

These ultra-creepy racist homophobic people are holding the House hostage and demanding that Kevin McCarthy give them concessions in exchange for their vote.

The House (or should I say "the unofficial House" since nobody is sworn in) ...
.... is adjourned until 10pm Eastern today Friday.
McCarthy thinks he can do more wheeling and dealing with the horrible people in the meantime.

I suspect we are going to hear the term "Discharge petition" a lot over the next 2 years. Will be just about the only way anything will pass in the House.

No idea if this is true will come to pass, but hilarious if the "moderate Rs" do end up watering down some of these promises McCarthy made.

They're full of [!@#$%^&*]. They will be too scared to do anything out of turn. They will just shrug and say it's Biden's fault. They also know, as we see here, Republican enablers like Jake Tapper will support them all the way.

I think we feel that way, but so many on the left and right are eating up the points that this was such an incredible deal, why didn't the Squad do the same, look at how much they get done on the right because they are unafraid and unbought.

I don't think there's any evidence of a majority of people buying that beyond pockets of random Twitter people. You can find pockets of suckers anywhere.

Kevin hasn't even got the speakership yet and one "moderate" Republican has already come out against the rules package, which includes a lot of the promises he just made to the crazies to get their speakership vote.

Brian Fitzpatrick, another so-called "moderate" who runs the worthless "Problem Solvers" caucus (AKA get me on TV caucus) with Josh Gotthmeier, has already said he's voting for it and that it's going to pass. I wouldn't be surprised if the above is just another of their tricks to hide that they all support the same death of this country.

Wow McCarthy goes after Gaetz. How embarrassing! That looks really bad for McCarthy even though he's already a loser.

Matt Gaetz is about as scummy as you can get, but seeing him continue to publicly humiliate McCarthy before inevitably caving in amuses me, even if it shouldn't. One of the reasons is because I was reading Jake Sherman's feed, and Sherman was gossiping and giggling over every second of this vote. You could tell he was in absolute heaven, going on and on about the genius of McCarthy's special friend Pat McHenry and what a wonderful team they are. Then as soon as Gaetz voted present, the purple prose stopped immediately.

As I said a day or two, that's what I enjoy about Sherman's feed. He clearly thinks it's so great and exciting to watch bc he is another sports-obsessed 'savvy' Beltway guy and ingests it on that level, but he also knows how bad this is for the GOP at large so it's a double-edged sword. It's a far cry from the godlike figures he reveres like Boehner or Mitch and it's a comedown whether he fully processes it or not. He keeps eagerly hoping that on the next vote they will get it right. It's as much an embarrassment for him as for his favored party. It's anti-savvy.
