I don't really believe it's just two, but I'm mostly surprised Biden called them out (if this is accurate). That's a risk. I wonder if he knows they aren't going to be supporting anything he wants to do so this is a Hail Mary.

I don't believe there are enough Dem Senators who will block key legislation if pushed. Some may be grateful for the cloak of Manchin, but if pressed they'll fold. I think Biden and Schumer are both pressurizing these two knowing that if they break - which 1/6 may have done - the others follow.

Josh Hawley loves to make money and get media headlines off "cancel culture," as does the deeply destructive Federalist Society that belched him out. They do not seem to care as much about "cancel culture" or "free speech" when it comes to criticism of themselves.

Did anyone try to tune in to the NYC Democratic Primary debate for mayor? All I could do was laugh, what a clusterf*CK! 20 second soundbytes for critical questions. I wonder if people will notice that Andrew Yang only seems to be speaking in platitudes, nothing specific, very little that speaks to a personal investment in the city he wants to run. At the very least the majority of the candidates on the stage seem to have a stake (or at least express that they do) in the city.

I was actually interested in watching it but I got the time mixed up(time zones) because I figured it was going to be a clown car. I flipped on Morning Joe for the first time in I think 2 years because I read Kathryn Garcia was going to be on and I hadn't really seen much of her. My niece who lives in NYC is a bit higher on her because she has experience. She works for the city health dept and I think the people there have had enough of no nothing mayor DeBlasio who pushed the prior health commission out because she dared to challenge the administration on the schools. And replaced her with a yes man. My niece has nothing against Adams other than the fact that she said a burrough president is basically a figuredhead and doesn't really run anything.

When I mentioned laughing at some point, one of the moments that caused unintentional laughter was when one of the moderators asked Garcia why she quit in the middle of the pandemic and the look on Garcia's face. She collected herself to answer but she was so taken aback by the line of questioning and I have to say, the bluntness of the question caught me off-guard.

Eric Adams was also a police officer, which may or may not be a liability in NYC. He did start talking about police brutality over 20 years ago, which didn't endear him to the PBA back then, so he founded an organization with other Black police officers that focused on community relations and anti-brutality/violence and now that NYC has had an uptick in some violent acts, he seems to be getting more attention recently. Ray McGuire seemed surprisingly unflappable and unrushed in his delivery of answers.

Maya Wiley was often chided for going over her allotted time, but she did mostly get out there, what she wanted to say. It was kind of weird how  Scott Stringer was answering other candidate"s questions, he really wanted to get his ideas out there, whether he had been asked or not.

    • In the current environment, while it's small, there is a crumb of good news: Apparently, San Antonio voted for a DEMOCRATIC mayor, Gina Ortiz, beating the "right-hand man" of Gov. Greg Abbott, former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5337199-gina-ortiz-jones-wins-san-antonio/
    • Love this! You are both adorable. Wow
    • I have not gone back to watch much of 1987, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't feel like the writers or producers had any sort of plan. The show feels as if it's constantly in flux.  I will give it credit for this. It's watchable for the most part minus Lisa/Jamie which I find nearly unwatchable now.   I don't find Cheryl mousy. I think she has a lot of quiet strength, but she was saddled with the Scott romance which the writers did not invest in. She had a good friendship with Julie (also criminally underused), and her interactions with Ada were enjoyable as well. I also like Layman, but Spencer was extremely talented and when Cass returns, Schnetzer and Spencer have some wonderful scenes. Spencer also fits in with Alexander, Hogan, and Marie.  I'd forgotten just how much I missed seeing Wallingford. IT was so good to see him again. Even when they didn't have a major plot, Felicia/Cass/Wallingford/Mitch always brings a smile to my face.
    •   Dani’s cute ass party planner. He gave me some tea but I was so drunk I don’t remember it.
    • NBC must have been grateful to have LHOTP, it's only hit and still strong after several seasons. Their next established show was Rockford Files at 45th. They didn't develop any comedies and relied on movies and mini series  which didnt establish viewer loyalty and habits. Their only new hit was mid season's Project UFO which debuted Feb up against Rhoda/On Our Own on CBS and How the West Was Won on ABC. It opened with a strong 36 share beating CBS and close to ABC as HTWWW had a 36 share over 3 hours. The next week UFO saw a respectable 32 share, then a 31 so it was slipping. A 28 share followed but a few weeks later it jumped back up to a 34. So no blockbuster but compared to what else they had, there was potential, So next season NBC sent it to Thursday up against Mork and The Waltons and it bombed.  They were smart to see potential in Chips, which took off on Saturdaysnext season. ABC was on a roll with Love Boat, 3's Company, Taxi, Eight is Enough adding to their hits. Their only real flops were Redd Foxx and San Pedro Beach Bums, an Aaron Spelling misfire. Like Redd Foxx, Harvey Korman was lured to ABC but his series was a filler that did well but was considered a time slot hit. Nancy Walker and Rob Reiner were also given series on the philosophy that not only were they popular names, their absence from popular shows like Sanford, Rhoda and All in the Family might weaken those shows. CBS were relying on old favorites. Betty White was strong the first few weeks then faded. Incredible Hulk was their strongest newbie. It was lucky for CBS that NBC was doing so badly or else some of their weaker shows would have really suffered.
    • That outfit looks like something Martin would wear lol.
    • Omg not we both ran into people from the show this weekend!
    • I guess he was let out the gates, because he's outside.
    • Yup.  You can hate John all you want, but like seriously he was the cornerstone of the show for years.  So he should get a long ass funeral and burial and all the things because Drake and John deserve that.
