If the GOP is truly about "turning the page", then they'll vote to convict and move on. It's unlikely that most want to yoke their careers to a sinking ship. Trump, in all likelihood will try to loom large over the GOP for as long as possible. Most won't want that baggage, especially if it loses them corporate backing.  It'll be interesting to see how many try to wash the stench of Trumpism off themselves. It is unlikely that most rank and file GOP relish the prospect of another Trump run in 3.5 years (Personally, I think he'll be tied up in litigation but he needs to be stamped out from any possibility of another run for office). The GOP will seek to 'rebrand', which may not be successful with all those Trumpists still out there.

The ones who backed overturning the election results ought to be expelled. Impeachment is really good only half the necessary work.

Also on-board the Impeachment '21 train: Geraldo Rivera.  Probably b/c, watching the riots unfold stirred up some painful memories:

there is one thing I will always hold against her. she gave out police evidence in the Night Stalker case, which allowed the killer to walk onto the Golden Gate Bridge and throw that evidence into the Frisco bay. she graduated with Moses so why does she think she should have another term? she is part and parcel of why there should be term limits.

You would be correct. I lost a lot of respect for that radio station after they brought him on in summer 2018. Now, I really only listen to it for baseball (which, of course, is in its off season). Even during the games, the commercial breaks are filled with his promos - like the one of him saying. "I am Geraldo. I am invested in this town. I'm here to stay."

Besides, Geraldo is the last one who should to tell someone they have to go. After what he said and did in Iraq, HE should have been shunned from broadcasting entirely.

    • Millette Alexander got the short end of the stick once they killed off Joe. The Justin thing was a non-starter. Then she was briefly married to Alan's corrupt lawyer and HE was killed off. She was paired briefly with Adam and that ended because she believed Holly over Roger about the rape. Definitely, Marland had zero interest in her except as the therapist for the many, many of his female characters who needed therapy. It's not odd she left the show. One of the rare 1978 episodes on YT shows Alan going to Cedars for a physical check-up. He ends up with Sarah as his doctor. In between making mysoginistic comments about women doctors, he also openly flirts with her. It's very obvious they were chem testing Sarah and Alan. It's a really good scene. Bernau is both obnoxious and charming and Millette is amazing, trying to be pleasant and profesional without rolling her eyes at him, but at the same time maybe a LITTLE bit attracted to him. An interesting what-might-have-been. So it appears the Dobsons were actively looking for someone to pair her with, they just never found the right one for a long-term story.

    • First, let me say I love reading all of your takes and thoughts. They always provide a different point of view... a breath of fresh air... in this sometimes stuffy topic.

You've inspired me to add my 2 cents about this product placement debacle.  I absolutely HATE the way they are doing product placement in BTG. I really hope this doesn't catch on or evolve into more and more of these moments. It's incredibly off-putting to place them in a highly dramatic moment where we are still on the emotional journey with the character. What is next - Dani spraying the house while having a nervous breakdown? It makes me not want to buy the product they're selling. LOL. That's just me.
    • I always get the vibe that Martin/Smitty have an emotional abusive relationship set up... but I doubt the show will really go there with that element given that Martin is a Dupree (and we can't have the Duprees be portrayed in a negative light), and because it's a gay male relationship.   Even though abuse in the physical or emotional sense is a huge thing in a lot of gay and lesbian relationships. The Ashley/Naomi scene reads off to me for one reason....  Ashley was talking about the new scandal without any sort of mention and/or subtext.. considering she knew both Silk Press Sheila and Eva.  I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten, if Jen Jacobs isn't able to play subtext, or what.   It's just apparent the writers do not know how to write a young white millennial couple.. and perhaps they need to get a younger white script writer to be on staff... or let the actors play around with the lines to make them more natural/realistic.
    • This is as good a time as any to point out that the 90 minute show was, what I like to call  "cockamamie idea" of Fred Silverman, head of NBC Daytime Programming. He did so well at ABC & CBS but not so NBC. We learned this from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay, 2006, can be found on YouTube, audio only. Now, to be clear, Rauch was completely behind it. Only Lemay fought against it & eventually quit over it.
    • She was so wonderful. Glad your handle has been a tribute to her.
    • Hopefully Alan has learned to not interrupt or interject with pointless information while someone is in the middle of telling a story. I almost think it would be better if Alan was a producer behind the scenes.. and he just had the actors on screen talking and asking one another questions.  Those interviews tend to work better.
    • It was only recently announced that Denise Alexander passed away on March 5, 2025. She was my all time favorite actress and role model. She will be dearly missed.  Denise Alexander, ‘General Hospital' and ‘Days of Our Lives' Actress, Dies at 85
