Is 25% really seen as good?

I think the chances are much higher - I'd say 50% at least. Weird lowballing there.

Matt Yglesias has been crashingly negative in recent months. I think 25%-40% is closer. The fact that the GOP and WH, internally, are expecting a bloodbath says a lot.

Perhaps he should have said "real" chance.  Still, in this type of high stakes scenario I'm not sure "good" is the wrong word.  If someone said I had a 25% chance of winning the lotto tomorrow I would think that's a damn good chance.  If it's really true that there is a 25% chance the cover up works, I find that pretty damn terrifying.

Sorry, what I meant was that I think it's about a 50% chance the GOP will hold the House and the Senate. If not higher. I was surprised he only felt it was 25%. The Senate is looking good for them, which means more money to pour into the House. The media loves Republicans and will break their backs to help them win. Add in voter apathy and voter suppression, and it's all in place.

BernieBro press wants Dems to fail and they REALLY want the Mueller investigation to go away.

I never got the impression Yglesias was a BernieBro, but maybe I've missed something as I've paid less attn to him in the last 6-9 months.

Meanwhile, more bad news for Trump:

The Manafort/Cohen guilt finally seems to have popped the bubble. What's worse is that these numbers came before his shameful behavior around McCain's passing.

But numbers always have a way of trending upward again.

(Unless we're talking about soap opera ratings, of course.  They're the Weebles that DO fall down.)

What gets me is that many said the whole FBI issue some of his allies are involved in would make it impossible for him to win. Yet the main focus is blatant racist attacks. I guess they know what their base craves.

Yes.  These terrible people feel entirely too comfortable launching these kinds of racists attacks.  At this point it's impossible to be surprised.  I'm sure he's getting death threats like that woman in Vermont.
