I'm still trying to process the fact that people were idiotic enough to vote for someone who would call into CSPAN and various media organizations using a fake name and doesn't even have the ability to disguise his whiny voice. At least come up with better aliases. 🙄What a lazy guy.

The thing is, if Trump wants those tariffs so badly, then why doesn't he just put forth his (shoddy af) case before Congress, which his party controls, instead of invoking executive orders that can be (and have been) reversed upon appeal?

For once, I'm with Gorsuch: Congress just needs to do its' [!@#$%^&*] job, lol.

At the State of the Union speech, just before it started:
Representative Al Green from Texas, held up this sign.
They had him ejected.

I'm not watching the speech, but I started following ATRupar's clips/narration on bsky,
One of the very first things Tr*ump said in his speech was
"We ended DEI in America!" and the Republicans stood up and clapped.

Okay, I'm out, cannot even bear to follow Rupar's excellent feed.

(Saturday Feb. 28, 2026)
Afraid of losing and wanting to assert their authoritarian powers,
Trump and Netanyahu began bombing the f* out of Iran this morning.

Trump sent some stupid message in English to the Iranian people to tell them to rise up and overthrow their government, forgetting that he had already disbanded VOA "Voice of America" radio in the Farsi language.

Iran is retaliating by bombing these targets:

  • Israel,

  • U.S. warships in the Middle East,

  • U.S. military bases all over the Middle East

  • Random Middle Eastern countries that have been known to be U.S. allies.

  • Videos have shown a hotel in Dubai being bombed.

Israel was prepared for retaliation and Tel Aviv had already moved all their hospital patients to underground shelters, etc.

Reuters seems to have the most nonpartisan coverage of what's really happening.

According to Reuters: The stupid U.S. war cabinet is monitoring this from Mar-a-Lago.
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/top-us-general-hegseth-monitoring-iran-strikes-trump-resort-person-familiar-says-2026-02-28/

According to Reuters: The CIA assessment in advance was that if Khamenei were killed, an even more hardline ruler would be put in place; but of course nobody listened.
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/prior-iran-attacks-cia-assessed-khamenei-would-be-replaced-by-hardline-irgc-2026-02-28/

Phil D. Stewart of Reuters is tweeting updates. He's using all caps, probably because in a hurry, or because it's all awful

Marcy Wheeler aka "emptywheel" has an excellent analysis
https://emptywheel.net/trumps-illegal-war/
She points out that Tr*mp acted now before Congress could stop him.
There was a bipartisan resolution soon to be voted on:
the "Khanna-Massie War Powers resolution"

February 26, 2026 statement from U.S. house of representatives Democrats
https://jeffries.house.gov/2026/02/26/democratic-leadership-ranking-members-announce-iran-war-powers-resolution-vote-next-week/
“As soon as Congress reconvenes next week, we will compel a vote of the full House of Representatives on the bipartisan Khanna-Massie War Powers resolution. This legislation would require the President to come to Congress to make the case for using military force against Iran. The Iranian regime is brutal and destabilizing, seen most recently in the killing of thousands of protestors. However, undertaking a war of choice in the Middle East, without a full understanding of all the attendant risks to our servicemembers and to escalation, is reckless. We maintain that any such action would be unconstitutional without consultation with and authorization from Congress. Next week, every Member will have the opportunity to go on the record as to whether they support military action against Iran absent Congressional approval.”

Reminder to double-check, triple-check, and quadruple-check everything you see about this.

Way back during the Arab Spring in 2011, most of the social media posts from the resistance in the locations were true, but there were always a few faked ones or old ones given new dates.

Same is true for ICE stuff in Minnesota. Almost all of what's coming from the people on the ground is true, but there are always random people posting incorrect pictures or old pictures, or mislabeled pictures from unrelated events.

Nowadays with A.I., there is so much possibility for fake pics and fake reports.

This 2026 war will have all of this scrambled, with state medias from all countries making it even worse.
Check and verify everything five times.

In emergency situations like this, even the best reporters might get one thing wrong, but the best reporters will also acknowledge when they mess up, and post corrections.
