Biden's annual State of the Union speech. Tues March 1st at 6pm Eastern.
On cspan.  Just the speech.  No commentary.

Cspan set it up to be automatically followed by the Republican response to his speech (which I'd rather not watch.)
I'll try later on to find a clip with just Biden's speech.

I hope he survives too, but it seems unlikely. Let's just hope that Europe and the States can get enough aid there in time to really help. Why we didn't do it sooner I don't know.

For people who want to help I would look to donating to some of the refugee charities that are already on the ground. Maybe pressure our leaders to increase the number of refuges let in by a couple hundred thousand. That could help a lot of war torn people around the globe..

I think they were paralyzed with doubt and fear - that they would escalate the conflict, and also that they would get the blame (which many are still doing). I also think that the world opinion of the US is now so low that many did not believe it when Biden told people what was going to happen.

With roads blocked off it just feels like we are slowly watching people die without being able to do anything, until it's  over and the press starts spinning about how Putin was awesome and had a secret plan all along that we were too stupid to get, and most of those who are currently paying lip service about not doing business with them go back to basics, like what happened with 1/6.

That makes a lot of sense.

As to the second part, I urge anyone with mental health struggles not to watch the video. It is not normal to be a spectator of war. Helplessness in the face of atrocity is a recipe for depression.  Keeping up with what's going on is one thing, watching people murdered with your own eyes is another.

Something else caused in large part by Putin. And something else, like Ukraine, denied and enabled by many American, Canadian, European stooges for that regime.  If there is a hell, the "independent journalists" on Putin's payroll will be burning there.

Unfortunately, between the cancel talking points (revved up because of the yacht seizures), Putin's latest lunatic speech,  the whataboutism and claims that if you care about the Ukraine you are racist, and the bot farms that are all over Twitter today, I do think many will fall into line over here. But I suppose in the end it doesn't matter anyway - what matters are the moneymen who are pretending to care for about another week until they start lining their pockets again. And we can do nothing about them.

The food story explains the images of soldiers looting markets in Kherson.

There's some irony in the dead-end leftists who kept taunting, "LOL YES, YOU  WANT TO FIGHT RUSSIA IN WINTER?!?!!?!" being unsure of how to reply to such terrible decisions (supposedly tanks are now getting stuck in the mud) from a man they worship as a god, and the Russian military ads they get horny over not comparing to the reality of young, scared men.

Julia Ioffe's tweets about Moscow are very informative, but they make me wonder if she ever cared about the many people in Moscow who never got to experience her world, and have been persecuted for many years. Given her politics, I doubt it.

I saw one foreigner in Russia who was worried their money would be seized. I'm not sure why anyone who moves over there would expect differently.

I saw that Moldova is trying to get into the EU as they know they are next.

    • Definitely.  The Lois I loved in the 90's would have a fulfilling life.  Her entire existence on this show is keeping Gio's paternity a secret and that is a waste of an amazing character.

I do, too. In truth, I feel like every regime post-strike hasn't had a single clue how to handle Lois, and it's disappointing, because Rena's return to GH was such a blessed event I did not think I'd live to see happen in modern times.

This is a post you made, and quickly deleted, that referenced the alleged (by you) death of an actress on General Hospital. Again, you are trying to break news, whether it's true or not. That is nothing but immoral, disgusting and outrageous.
    • My hope is that Lois leaves town for a few months after the Gio secret blows up and then returns with her own story and a love interest.
    • Max Brady is still in a relationship or marriage with his niece Chelsea Brady.  They live in London.  This was confirmed by Chelsea at Victor's funeral. I think she was pregnant then?  They now have a son named Isaac.
    • This is an email I received from the PM you sent to Toups and me, just two days before Drake died. That's not something one says when they didn't know his medical condition wasn't already public. You may have quickly deleted the PM after I called you out on having the audacity to think it was appropriate to share at all, but an email lives on. You clearly intended to break the news because you have no clue about what is appropriate and what is not. If you want to become a gossip columnist, as I've told you before, create your own site. I'm sick of the drama you manifest here.
    • Feelings after a week's worth of episodes (and excuse me if I get character names wrong but I'm not googling so as not to spoil anything) Kim Hunter (Nora) is excellent. This is Emmy caliber work. I have no idea if she got nominated, but she would have tapes from this week if she did. She has scenes with Eliot and I'm curious if this is going anywhere because soaps rarely if ever put characters together unless they have a storyline planned for them. I hope so because that was a good scene. I'm still confused about Paige's past storyline with the terrorists. There's a spoiler surprise this week. The spoiler surprise was connected to Nora's scenes and it worked well. I hope to see the spoiler surprise with Nora. Are Paige and her bodyguard supposed to be in a romance? Or did she romance her stepbrother? (I think it's her stepbrother as he is Nora's son, and she's Owen's daughter, right?) April/Draper: Can't say I care all that much about the house issue. The mother gave part of the payment, so what?!? Draper is getting on my nerves with his macho nonsense although the posts here leave me to think he has a right to be upset. I like Margo so much so I don't care.  Sharon Gabet had a fun entrance in this week's episodes for me. She comes in and makes out with Eliot. She has a fight with a character named Sara who she then slaps. She comes home to a baby and her mother-in-law. Fantastic scene. I think this is Lois Kibbee based on looks, but I don't know the character's name. Kibbee and Gabet are amazing in this scene. I don't quite get the background (Raven was married before and cheated on Kibbee's son?) and I don't remember the new husband's name. I'm curious where this is going.  I'm enjoying EON. My only quibble is that I don't like the show's logo. Looks very cheap.
    • I feel like the fallout is going to be bad for Lois and I don't want her to leave town.  I wish the show could find a place for her that worked better.
    • The lies.

    • If that is the case then it truly was a waste of time as I have not ever, even once, deleted or removed such a post.  The only thing I have ever done even remotely close to that was if I inadvertently posted in the wrong thread & marked it in the wrong spot with that phrase & then posted the content where it was meant to be.
