(Sarcasm) But I thought Biden being white (unlike Obama) was going help get things done with Mitch?

I didn't realize that conservatives had another outlet that has its own tv show. How will it take for this one to be included in the cable network channel package.

The Rising tends to get lots of love from the dead-end left because they hate the Democratic Party and have many segments talking about how terrible it is. Krystal Ball is an alleged grifter (just ask the people who donated to her PAC a few years ago) and changes political allegiances with the wind, but a lot of people love to ignore this because she says the right buzzwords.

I'm also not sure why she keeps trying to do those thumbnail poses that look so awkward. She looks like someone asked Beth Hart to "do sexy."

Biden being white was never going to help with whether the opposition party opposed him or not. Biden being white helps with white liberals in his own party, who were skittish about backing Obama up with things such as the 2009 stimulus bill ( which is why the amount of stimulus was so anemic) and the ACA, which ended up being less than what originally intended, (i.e. no public option).

Not sure who goes around thinking that McConnell is anything but craven or would actually clear a path for Biden to accomplish his agenda, but those persons would be sadly mistaken.

Loathsome media darling and newfound Trump chanteuse Elise Stefanik, who has all the charisma of a tree stump and presents herself like Sarah Huckabee Sanders' very very slightly less awkward sister, had a meltdown over Nancy Pelosi shading her. It was the usual performative outrage, designed to raise more money from dumbasses, but you can tell from just how feverish the language is that deep down Nancy got her and it's going to leave a mark. Nancy is expert at stuff like that. This will be the first and last time I enjoy anything involving that sack of potatoes from NY-21.

Biden being white wasn't going to help him deal with Republicans but it sure as hell helped him get elected.

Anyway speaking of whiteness, this live thread of an insurrectionist's court hearing is comedy gold.

Today and tomorrow are election results for Scotland's parliament. The SNP have the most seats, but not enough of a majority to push for another independence referendum. People are waiting to see if they will hit that number.

Here's Nicola Sturgeon, SNP leader, saying it plainly:

You can follow results here:

The talking points are already all over the place - unemployment benefits are to blame, people are lazy and worthless and don't want to break a sweat, and more and more states are getting cookies and cuddles from the media for shutting them down in order to force people to return to work. Raising wages or having more fair compensation is still seen as radical and never able to happen.

I know people who have been out of work for going on months and haven't even been able to get in touch with unemployment, let alone draw any, but of course they are just lazy bums, ruining the economy.

One of those days where you really hate what your country has become...or was all along.

    • I still see Alfonso Ribeiro as Carlton when Martin gets angry.
    • Not that I want to defend Y&R's writers, but it's not as absurd as you'd think and I believe they plucked it from reality (and then bungled it). The Estee Lauder Companies purchased Tom Ford's brand several years ago and I am willing to bet that's how Jabot came to buy Marchetti.
    • Loved the episode today. looking forward to the fallout. Nubian-Sheila looked fantastic, but I wish the writers would cut back on her overuse of figurative language. I loved the "fix yo mind ministries" line though. The background music during her fantasy confrontation with Nicole was epic.
    • Nothing makes sense on this show. I wish there was a garbage can emoji. That sums up 90% of the show right now.

Jane Wyman return episode was head-to-head w/ Cheers season 8 finale. Falcon Crest broadcast syndication began Fall 1986, which overlapped w/ Oprah going national. AFAIK cable broadcasts were Lifetime and Soapnet. I have no memory of cable broadcasts on TBS, TNT, TNN, E!, FX.
    • After today’s rushed and abrupt exit for Summer I immediately realized that Josh & Co. were very blindsided by AL’s decision to leave.  Not the first time this has happened to JG either; see MM & HK’s exits in 2021, MM’s exit in 2022, and of course TSJ’s exit last year. Obviously JG and our executive in charge of nothing Steve Kent don’t have a good handle on casting disruptions. And Mariah having an offscreen affair is [!@#$%^&*] ridiculous!! Meanwhile Tessa’s blonde hair is overkill with the number of blondes on the show already. I said the same thing 3 years ago…of course it was utterly ridiculous everyone was mad at Sally for getting Summer he dream job (don’t ask lol) but there was so much the show could have done without bringing on the Marchetti angle.
    • Does the ball on GL where Philip revealed that he had forced Alan out of Spaulding count or was that not Philip's idea?  There was a ball on AMC where Adam revealed that he had bankrupted Palmer, I think (or was it the other way around?), but I can't remember who threw that.
    • Thanks for honoring Ruth Buzzi. She was a treasure. I'm glad DAYS let her have some fun. I remember Imogene Coca complaining about ATWT just giving her a drab guest part.
    • It's such a delicious set of circumstances that I'm actually a little surprised that I can't think of ones that exactly match. I've just got a couple of close but no cigars (the reveal wasn't public, like when Alexis told Dominique at her and Garrett's engagement party that Garrett lied about being married; or the revealer didn't come up with the idea of the party). Maybe I need to think some more about it.
