The whole gradually getting people to accept families being locked up like animals sounds like something Jeff Sessions would have come up with. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the plan all along (maybe one Trump wasn't fully let in on). The good thing (if there is anything good in this) is now that attention has been focused on this issue, hopefully many of the people who are angry will remain angry over the policies and the issue won't leave the spotlight.

I'm sorry, but please, no.

There was never any plan. There is never any plan with Trump. There is just impulsive, vile behavior and rash mania that he reverses and enacts on whims. It's happened countless times and it will happen again and again and again until he is removed.

What is happening is awful, and the 'fix' is awful, no one disputes that. But it is a cave, and it is a start at making him cave further. Suggesting otherwise is not only inaccurate, but it is defeatism and it's factually wrong. It also enables Trump and his people - imbuing them with incredible powers of omniscience and foresight which they simply have never had.

And I'm not saying this about you but about other people I see this suggestion from online - I think for some folks it is a kind of strange coping mechanism. They'd rather believe the man has a master plan and is unbeatable, because the reality - that he is a lunatic with no impulse control - is too much to bear.

I get what you're saying, and on many Trump matters (especially trade) I agree, but the money that can be made off of these centers and Sessions' deep ties to the big bucks made from private prisons really makes me feel like something else was going on with this choice.

From reading that thread it sounds like it was Peter Fonda. I didn't really even know he was still around to be honest.

It was him, yes. He was very angry but went too far.

Most likely, Trump's latest EO - which I think is illegal - gets struck down, and he then plays 'don't blame me' to his base by blaming the courts. It's his typical move when he loses.

It's about time, Florida but I'll truly be impressed when Rubio gets tossed out for someone with a heart, conscience and a spine.

There should be a picture of Nielsen in the dictionary by the definition of oblivious.  Who goes to a Mexican restaurant after trying to 'sell' the notion of forced separation of families only to send children from Central American countries to internment camps?

If she had gone to a Mexican-American owned restaurant, surely they would've spit in her food.

    • I like that there are a lot of local performers on this soap and I'm glad they've resisted so far on hiring too many soap performers.   Cady has been awkward on the show thus far and Jon seems to have polarizing as well. I say focus on the local talent and giving those people a job and exposure.. and leave the P & G soap opera performers in the past.
    • Who do you think would be good for the show among the ATWT/GL cast?

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.
