So it looks like he's going to say something stupid about North Korea tonight, and he also isn't going to re-nominate someone for South Korea ambassador who dared to question his attempts to push a trade war with South Korea and have bombing on North Korea. And of course it's all about driving headlines. I'm so tired of this [!@#$%^&*].

So, Joe Kennedy III. What say you?

I thought he was stiff starting out. But once he got warmed up, he seemed passionate. Inclusive! (Lots of "we" and "our" versus "I" and "me"...)

I can't say as I was born 4 years after his assassination, but I've seen some say he sounded a lot like his grandfather, RFK.

But is he the hope for 2020? Not sure. Still, Dems can do much worse. See the current occupant of the White House.

I hope they don't throw around the words "Democrats' next hope" TOO much.  Otherwise, the GOP will sniff around, looking for something in that kid's past to nail him with.

In other off topic news, I'm so disappointed that the only person I saw who managed the "McCabe and Mrs. Clinton" joke (which was the first thing I thought of when all this mess started) was Ben Shapiro, as it just reminded me yet again that I probably have more in common with him than I may wish...

I can't get excited about a member of a political dynasty. It reeks of oligarchy and we need to be getting away from that if we can. It may be too late.

If I were to forget his name is Kennedy,  I would say I'd like to see him become more seasoned first.  Obviously, if he's the candidate I would vote for him, but I'd rather see Harris, Biden or Booker get the nomination.

    • One of the dumbest situations (Lando) ever. What audience member is going to invest in a storyline with a recast they don't like and a triangle where one character is short-term? It bombed as it should have done. So much of JFP's tenure just reeks of desperation. I don't get how someone could produce SB (which did have flaws but was often brilliant) but make so many terrible mistakes at GL.   I still think JFP would have worked better as a director and music supervisor. Her music work at SB was top notch.

Article (not that you'd want to read it, just proof that it unfortunately exists) https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/01/style/trump-style-100-days.html non-paywall copy: https://archive.is/ICe7U
    • We see the same with GH, where Mark Teschner, the casting director, reportedly has less say since Frank Valentini took over. Some producers want to take over every aspect of their shows.  I think Lando may have been a CBS push.
    • No idea but she won Emmys & she was the Casting Director at the same time for both ATWT & GL. She hired Lisa Brown with no job for her. Then Marland made Brown his muse so he created both Iva & Nola for her. But, I think we know that Jill does what Jill wants.
    • I did notice a decline in the quality of the performers being cast once Betty R vacated/retired from her position. We would have been spared from the nightmares of some of the castings that dominated the show in the last decade or so of the soap. JFP was an example of someone, no matter the gender, who had no business being in the position they were in.
    • If Betty Rea was the casting director, why was so much of GL during JFP's reign cast by her? Walker, Deas, Crampton, Lando, etc. JFP takes credit for Dusay as well. What is the point of having a casting director, if you don't let her do her job? What happened when Rea left?
    • So much on here slips my mind but this is the first I remember hearing of Peterson's passing. Very sad. Nell was a thankless role, clearly set up for a cheating storyline with Frank, but Peterson did her best.  Betty Rea Rea was the casting director for the soap opera “Guiding Light” from 1970 to 1996 and simultaneously the casting director for “As the World Turns” from 1979 to 1983.
    • Sorry, just one more post on the Thorntons. How did Ruth and Edna feel about each other prior to Tad dating Dotty?
    • I can't remember exactly but I think it may be 1995 as Jake was trying to hide from a loan shark.
