And they wonder why I'm so pessimistic.

It's clowns like those two that make me believe in climate change.  I mean, anything that results in the world burning to a crisp and the human race becoming extinct.

It was clear to me dear. I know you're not a supporter of his. You have every right to speak whatever opinions you hold. never let anyone tell you different.

this is already the most scandal ridden admin......and the prick hasn't even taken office yet.

This article (warning: lengthy-so read when you have the time) serves as an interesting follow up to a lively conversation I had a month or so ago with another member on this board about the MS-13 gang and their suspected connection to the tragic deaths of some teenagers (all of Color) in a section of Long Island.

It confirms some history that I already knew and mentioned- that in essence, they are an American-made gang that was exported to El Salvador through deportations of criminals released from Los Angeles prisons.  Also that those fleeing El Salvador's violence from the gangs (of which MS-13 is one of the most prominent, others were started in the wake of M-13) comprise the ranks of those unaccompanied children as well as women and children fleeing to the U.S. via the Mexican-U.S. border in recent history.

One thing I didn't know is how poor these gangs actually are and that extortion, not drugs are their main source of income. They are feared, of course by their local communities as they make good on their threats to "Pay or Die" but internationally they don't compare to the Mexicans, the Russians, the Japanese or even the Italian mafia in terms of financial heft.

Also the small number of MS-13 that exist in the U.S. are a self-autonomous collective.

Here's the article to anyone interested in reading. One teenage gang member, who could neither read nor write, offering an interview for his anonymity and breakfast (which he shared with his siblings) strikes me as almost pitiable.

Killers on a Shoestring: Inside the Gangs of El Salvador

ETA: I do not condone what these people are doing in any way. These gangs are destroying their communities with their brutality and lack of regard for human life.

I do think that if the government itself were less corrupt and if education and the training of people to acquire self supporting skills were a serious option, the ranks of these gangs would be thinned by a large margin.

Wall Street at record highs as techs, energy stocks rally

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-stocks-idUSKBN13G198

While all the three major indexes have rallied since the U.S. election, technology stocks had held back the S&P and Nasdaq as investors poured money into sectors such as financials, industrials and energy, which are seen benefiting from President-elect Donald Trump's policies.

Is this supposed to be some longterm good news? Of course the energy and financials stocks have soared. De-regulating the financial industry and basically dismantling every policy the EPA has enacted is a dream come true for these businesses.  I'll remember this when the financial industry crashes like it did in 1929, 1987, and 2008.

What a nightmare, thinking of what this clown is going to do to the environment.  It's sickening.  You would think of all places, Michigan voters would have rejected Trump on that issue alone.

It's scary to think just how fucked up Mother Earth will be once Republicans get going.  There's nothing to stop them, at least for the next couple years.

When did science become a partisan issue? 99.9% of the scientists around the world say it's real, the Pentagon has said it's the biggest threat to out national security but somehow it's partisan. If anything you would think that the more intelligent member of the party would give a damn about their children and grandchildren and not the almighty dollar,

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
