I agree, that Bianca is an idiot. A sanctimonious, self righteous idiot. IMO, she's been this way for quite some time now. She needs to ride her high horse back to Paris.

I enjoyed the rest of the show for the most part, minus Bianca. I thought that Randi, Petey and Natalia dancing together was kind of funny. I loved what David said to Tad "isn't this the part where you punch me and tell me to leave your family alone again". I loved that Tad was speechless after David said that. Tad another self righteous, santicmonious hypocritical character loves to constantly physically attack David and then warn David to stay away from his family. Even though Tad's wife can't seem to stay away from David and is now constantly fantasizing about him. That comment that David made was spot on.

I don't like Annie, but I do think that her storyline with Ryan is one of the most interesting storylines on the show right now. I wonder what would have happened with her and Ryan if Greenlee hadn't came to the penthouse. I think that Ryan probably intended to get Annie help.

I think that Aidan might have been lying to Greenlee about his real reasons for going along with Emma's kidnapping. I think that he might have been trying to cover his own backside, in case Annie had spilled the beans first about him being involved in Emma's kidnapping.

I thought that Debbie Morgan did a really good job today. She keeps racking up good scenes that she could possibly submit for her emmy reel.

I enjoy David and Jake as adversaries, and would definitely like to see more interaction between the two of them.

HAHAH whatever you think if JR pushed Bianca or not--from Bianca's perspective it makes sense that she'd think that. It's called writing for character, people. Sheesh.

I liek JR but I think they have shown that he's *slightly* homophobic. Adam always has been pretty much in his way. Again, it's their character.

Really good episode. Interesting that Pratt has brought back the old technique of repeating most of the final scenes of the day before in the prologue.

I thought it was another really good episode.

I loved how MCE took Annie's instability to another level! She finally realized that her plan didn't work and just went for broke and imo became even more entertaining. I just wish she'd spent more time recounting Greenlee's batshit crazy moments in the past.

Debbi Morgan is a shoo-in for an Emmy nomination at least. Wow, was she amazing once again!

I'm glad David intervened to operate on Aiden. Jake's a general surgeon, not a cardiologist! I also love Krystal's fantasies about him.

I didn't mind Bianca's ranting at JR because of the feelings stirred up from her rape, but she was way out of line claiming her threw her off the balcony. As the clip clearly shows, he shoved her off him and she went back much further than would normally be expected and then broke through the railing. He didn't throw her off at all!

In the past he's repeatedly shown more conservative and less open mindedness to Bianca's sexualy, the whoel Zarf/Zoe thing, etc. Like I said I think it's just slight--more like unthinking homophobia and I think it makes sense for his character. By now though I agree Bianca's sexuality doesn't play much of a role in what he thinks of Bianca.

Steve, Bianca did say her rape memories etc kicked into overdrive and she overeacted--I mean Binks basically forgave JR for all that happened to them so I think she was just overeacting.

I totally agree with what you say.

I like JR too, but I love to hate him and love his character because he is flawed. It is what makes his character and what makes him unique. As you said Eric - it is all about character.

It has gotten so old over the years for people to make excuses for the characters they like and to excuse the bad things they do. It is what has led to the bad writing that we have come too.

I remember back when JR was trying to kill Babe and the times he almost killed Kendall. I mean it was out and out attempted murder but so many on the boards made excuses for him. They overlooked it.

Or even with Todd Manning for the bad things he has done - they ahve made excuses.

No wonder we never see characters pay for the things they do anymore. No wonder we never get true payoffs anymore. The writers don't have to write them because for the most part fans just don't care.

People wonder why Guza continues with the Sonny and Jason mob story on GH and lets them kill over and over again without ever any repercussions - because their fans excuse them and let it go. They don't have to make them pay.

I think that JR is slightly homophobic too. It doesn't make me dislike him anymore. It doesn't make me think any worse of him. He is still one of my favorite characters but I like him more when he owns up to who his is and just goes with it. It is all part of his character and I enjoy that. But I do not think that the things he does should ever be overlooked.

I long for the days (if soaps last long enough) that this new form of writing will go away and once again the writing will turn again and folks will pay for the crimes they do again. There is good story in that as well. Some of the best stories of the past came out of the wrong things that Erica Kane did, her getting caught, and having to pay for it. Same with Rachel on Another World or even Roger Thorpe on Guiding Light or the old version of Alan Spaulding on Guidng Light and so on. Villians of the past were loved just as much but we all realized that eventually they got their comeuppance. We didn't make excuses for them and we reveled in the day they go caught and couldn't wait to see them pay or how they worked to get out of it.

I'm all for characters paying for their crimes. There was a long period where I didn't like JR at all, including the time frame from fall 2005-late spring 2006 where he was committing a whole lot of crimes and was getting away with all of them. He was one of my least favorite characters on the show during that time and I wanted him to pay for the stuff that he was doing. And I have never liked how he is so quick to turn on Adam in favor of Tad, and other people who have hurt him more than Adam has or how he harshly he judges Adam, and gives free passes to those that have hurt him a lot worse (Tad, Krystal and Babe when she was alive.) But I'm starting to kind of like him, and I like that he is trying to turn his life around.

I think that he is going to end up being a lot better off without Babe. And I hope that he does find love again, with someone who is nothing like Babe. He has done a lot of bad stuff, but I do like that he is attempting to try and turn his life around for his son.

And while he did push Bianca, I don't think that he threw her off the balcony, and I don't believe that he intended for her to fall the way that she did and end up in a coma. And I loathe and despise Bianca, and think that she is a self righteous, santicmonious, and hypocritical idiot, and would have thought that even if she hadn't said what she said to JR yesterday. I have felt like Bianca has been this way for a while, and while I do think that she was being santicmonious with JR yesterday, I would still detest her character even if she hadn't said anything to him.

xtr,

I am not saying this about you. This is just a general statement in regards to Bianca and how she is treated now on many boards.

Bianca has always been a well loved AMC character in very much the same mode as Dixie was. Yes there were some haters but not anything like she gets now or like Dixie got the last go around.

I said when I read the spoilers that Bianca was going to be pregnant by Zach that it wouldn't be long before the hate posts started. And it didn't.

What is being said about Bianca here is very mild to some of the things I have read about her.

What is strange is that Bianca's character has not changed - just like Dixie's didn't. but because both ladies moved into the realm of interloper or almost interloper into a beloved couple - now they are hated.

And I still hold that it was because of the hate mail and posts that Dixie got that the powers that be felt Dixie was expendable. What they don't realize is that to appease one fan base they angered another fan base and alienated that fan base in a way that can never be waxed over. They lost a portion of viewers that they will never be able to gain back.

I am just impressed so far with Pratt and I just hope to goodness that he does not give in to the hate and sacrifice Bianca in the same way that the former writers sacrificed Dixie. If it happens this go around AMC will lose me as a viewer forever.

I love the character of Bianca. She is one of the last true heroines that the soap opera genre has. I love now that she is flawed and has done somethign that makes her more real. And I can't wait for the fallout. But Bianca's character has not changed. What made her loved by so many before is still there - the only thing different now is that she is threatening Zach and Kendall.

The sad thing is that Bianca is getting all the hate in this when it took 2 to make Gabrielle. Where is the hate for Zach. he betrayed the great love that he and Kendall are supposed to have. If that love is so great why would he lie to Kendall in the first place and keep this from her. If anyone deserves the hate in this it is the sanctimonious Zach Slater.

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.
