I went!

Tyler Christopher finally showed up and boy were fans happy.

Brandon Barash and Darnell Williams had the biggest crowds. Barash was super popular.

Greg Vaughan was a popular returnee to the weekend.

Most everyone had good crowds around them. No one really any less popular than the other, although the "major" stars had larger crowds (Bradford Anderson, Vaughan, Kelly Monaco, Thorsten Kaye, Alicia Minshew, Cameron Mathison). Greg and Kelly got major crowd response.

I watched all of the motorcades on Saturday and am uploading videos to YouTube! I saw most of the conversations at the hat. The dynamics between all the stars are great. During a GH talk, Tyler Christopher was talking about having to learn to milk a cow for an upcoming scene and Kelly Monaco randomly spitted out that he could milk her if she wasn't his cousin! Fans really love Spinelli and Maxie together.

Susan Haskell, Kassie DePaiva and Michael Easton had a great rapport between them. It was sweet to see how much Brittany Underwood and Jason Tam were enjoying the weekend. Kristen Alderson had been telling them about it forever and it's clear she too loves the weekend.

Farah Fath had a shocking new haircut but it looks better than the pictures make it seem. She looked rail thin, much smaller and skinnier than I expected. Farah was very happy to be on OLTL and doesn't miss DAYS. Farah seemed kind of bitchy the first day but I think she was just ovewhelmed. On Sunday, she was much more personal and seemed the be enjoying it more. Same for Jason Cook. He looked overwhelmed at first and he also dissed DAYS when asked about it. He's glad he's on a more "real" soap and in all honesty, I love DAYS but I can't blame him for it.

The Street Jam was great. Bob Guiney sang three songs. Ricky Paull Goldin sang. Brandon Barash sang. Bradford Anderson sang twice, one song was "Mellow Yellow" and it was fantastic. During a break in the lyrics, he just randomly started frolicing on stage to the music. Kassie DePaiva and Bobbie Eakes sang together. Kassie sang a song on her own and then sang a touching duet with Kristen Alderson, who sang a song from her very first SSW when she was 12. Brittany Underwood sang and then had a duet with Jason Tam, who then sang his own song "Walking in Memphis" and it was GOOD. Brittany, Jason and Kristen sang together the song "Lean on Me". Bobbie Eakes sang "Mercy" in a sixties go-go outfit with great backup dancers. She also sang with Melissa Claire Egan and they did a high tempo 20s type swing. Hard to describe. Hope people put videos up because I was just too tired to videotape it all. Susan Lucci danced the Paso Doble with Tony Dovolani and it ended with Bob Guiney singing "Time of Your Life" as they had a montage of the past 13 years. Susan even started choking up about it ending. Kassie DePaiva encouraged fans to try and save the weekend. NONE of the stars wanted this weekend to be cancelled.

I got pictures of everyone. I'll post them in a bit.

Oh, on Sunday I was able to stand at the barricades and get quick autographs from Bobbie Eakes, Julie Marie Berman, Kristen Alderson, Cameron Mathison, Jason Tam and Greg Vaughan. Despite the crowd, Vaughan was the best about trying to see EVERYONE and sign everything. THe others did try but I felt Vaughan and even Cameron were the best about it.

Why not move the event to Disneyland in Aneheim. I know they had one in the past but it was canceled due to low attendance. I think that was a result of there being 2 Super Soaps, and not that it was in Aneheim. The old soap tours were always really well attended.

This would reduce costs as: A) flying stars NY-LA is def cheaper than NY-FL B) For the GH'ers all you'll need is a limo picking them up at studio on Friday after work C) You have the whole ABCD staff on call to help with the event as they are based in LA. They can prbly get more things done, faster, and cheaper. Turnaround for plan implementation with greatly reduce.

I agree, there has been a lot of negative backlash from the SSW cancellation. I didn't think it was loosing money as the park is filled to the brim on these days.

No one was happy about it being the last SSW. The parks were packed, more than before. Disney cannot be happy about this at all. It brings in a LOT of money and attendance. Think of the rooms they fill, tickets they sell, merchandise they sell, food they sell ... it adds up, and I'm sure it adds up to a LOT.

There was hope about it not being the last, even Kassie refused to say it's really the last and kept saying they're just going away for a while, which is what we all hope.

No one knows for sure.

I have a feeling it will return. I really don't know why but I have a lot of hope.

And no, Eden Riegel did not perform. Only those who I listed performed.

Events like SSW cost a lot more money than people think. Travel, security, event planning, staging, staffing, etc... and it's not like they close the park for SSW only. (Do they? I've never been.) So those crowds may be big but all those people are paying money to the park, not ABC.

And thanks for the pics KMan101. Very nice!

    •  Yeah, he is still dressed like Martin. He looks great, though.  Cute picture. Sober up, cause we need the tea.
    • Well, Claire did rig Rick's test results, but it was to flunk. They actually managed to get his correct results back after they were thrown into Cedar's furnace...I think? Everyone knew Claire changed them and Rick passed so that rewrite never made sense.   I agree. Pratt always seems "edgy" on screen (and her Locker Room interview prooved that it came from her personality.) I liked Claire causeing trouble and love Meta ringing her beads. Its just too bad that Abby left and they kinda just forgot Claire existed.
    • Oh so they did sleep together. The retcon was just the medical boards? That makes sense. I think Susan Pratt, while a good actress, was just an unlikeable presence onscreen and soaps wrote to that most of the time. There was some potential for more with her when she returned in that stint, as Pratt was at least interesting to watch and caused some conflict for the stifled Bauers. Instead of pairing her with Alan and then disappearing I might have had her hook up with Danny. I think there was a lot of flirtation with Bolger's Philip, but they never crossed the line.
    • I haven't seen Melchior in the role, but it would be astounding if she's worse than Linn. Her rivalry with Stephanie was sidelined IMO because Linn was one of the few actors who didn't have chemistry with, nor raise her game, when paired with Susan Flannery. To be fair, she did show some signs of life in scenes opposite Darlene Connelly, but way too little too late. It feels like Bell finally woke up after the Thorne switchover and sidelined the Kristin character with Mick to 1 or 2 appearances a week. As a result, the show improved by leaps and bounds after she was inexplicably at the center of the show for most of 1989. Margo is so much more enjoyable when not tied to that albatross. Even Clarke is watchable with less Kristin interaction. She can't exit stage left soon enough. As for the new Thorne, I agree that Norcross feels like a Forrester a lot more than Thrachta, even if the latter is a better actor.
    • The cast said that scenes were filmed over a few weeks, with a preplanned hiatus in the middle, and it was all out of order.  I would *guess* that they used Chandler when they could get him? They also had to work around Leo Howard getting married around the time these episodes were filmed, but I guess they worked it out since Tate appeared.
    • Maybe there was a scheduling conflict or something. He still has the full time 9-5 in Atlanta, right? Julie was there. Idk if Maggie’s gonna be a part of it though
    • At this point, the best nonpaywall coverage of Los Angeles (and anything political)  is in...the Tennessee Holler https://bsky.app/profile/thetnholler.bsky.social And as always, emptywheel continues to be consistent https://bsky.app/profile/emptywheel.bsky.social
    • Today Monday was the start of people arriving at the funeral, but the service hasn't started yet.  I know this is the nonspoiler thread but I think it's okay to say (in nonspecific terms) that the funeral episodes span a few days.  I won't detail it more here. Just sayin' keep watching.
    • Why am I only now hearing about what happened in L.A., lol?
    • While I agree that Reeves is Jennifer, I honestly do prefer Cady McClain in the role, as I feel she had/has a wider range of acting capabilities than I feel Reeves has. It's the strength of an actor, ultimately, for me, regardless of how I feel about Reeves' political/social views (which I widely disagree with). Plus, not to mention, they costumed Reeves like an old-fashioned frumpy farm/Moron wife, while McClain had some fashion-forward moments.
